Hello everyone! Nicole here with a layout that includes three different patterned papers that is easy on the eyes! I LOVE playing with patterned papers, but sometimes, it’s hard for me to play with big and bold patterns. Today, I’m going to share how I use multiple patterns in a simple way! For this layout, I’m using Pinkfresh studio’s Making the Best of It Collection. The color scheme of this collection is beautiful and the patterns…oh so lovely! I searched through all the patterns to decide on the patterns I wanted to use. It was hard to just choose three patterns because they are all beautiful, but the floral print patterned paper absolutely caught my eye. I LOVE IT. And because the designs are large on this paper, I looked for a smaller patterned paper that would complement the paper. The heart paper is perfect! I looked at the floral print paper to see if there was a color that caught my eye and really liked the blush patterned paper, so I grabbed that as an accent paper. I cut all the papers to measure 8 ½ x11. I used the heart patterned paper as the base of the layout and tour the floral print paper and the blush so that I could layer them together. The torn paper will add lots of texture for the layout, which I love. I tucked a few tags and envelopes behind the photo using colors that would pop. I used glue and foam squares to glue the die cuts and puffy stickers down. Aren’t they beautiful? Initially, I tried to add journaling to a tag, but it didn’t look right so I just used a ruler and black pen to journal below the sticker. I love the paper clip banner stickers, but I wasn’t happy with the direction of the paper clip so I cut it so that I could remove the paper clip and faced it the other way. I added the “You & Me” sticker using foam squares to make the banner pop a little! I tucked a variety of die cuts here and there and added the gorgeous butterflies and enamel dots to fill in the white space. Are you a fan of patterned paper? I hope you’ve found my tips on how to pair up patterns, so they blend well together without making the layout too busy. Thanks so much for visiting today! Nicole
I'm really impressed with how Basic Grey continues to innovate and bring new must have products each show. Their "capture" line continues to grow. I am really wanting to look more into it but I'm

Hello friends! It’s Mik here from Papermiks on the blog today. Today I’ll show you a new flipbook inspiration using the beautiful SV Weathered Garden SV Weathered Garden talks about the beauty of life. It talks about celebrating each day with a lot of joy and love, and to make this special album I chose the 6x8 flipbook vintage garden. For the cover, I used a beautiful frame to make my background. Then, I backed the “You fill my heart” card behind the frame and décor it with floral bits & pieces, foam stickers, and layered stickers. The dimension they give is wonderful and brings a very special touch to the project. I also mixed die cuts and brads to finish it. To allow the pocket page to interact with the paper page I removed two pockets from the page. I added a clipboard “moments” on the pocket page and now we have an interaction between the two. Add journaling, it’s always a good idea too. Instead of adding stickers on the photos, you can add them outside of the pocket page. So, you can change a photo without having to remove the sticker. I had a lot of fun creating this album. The SV Weathered Garden is a darling collection. I’m sure that will help you to document your moments in a happy and lovely way. I hope you’ve got some inspiration from this idea and enjoyed it! If you have any questions or would like to talk some more about flipbooks leave a comment below. Thanks for stopping by and have a creative day!
I decided to go with a brand new 2016 planner for this week's Something New theme over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge Blog. And after much planner-analyzing, I chose the Simple Stories Carpe Diem planner, which I love! Since my days are pretty much the same in terms of schedule, I wanted to turn this planner into a place to record inspirational ideas, family moments and memories, study notes and insights-- more like a journal rather than a calendar/schedule-keeper. The great thing about the Simple Stories Carpe Diem planner is that it's the A5 size and that means the fabulous planner dividers from Webster's Pages also fit in it. Yes! Two awesome brands that are compatible! So I included the Webster's Pages Positive Thoughts divider set (A5 size-- not to be confused with the identical A2 size) at the beginning of the monthly Carpe Diem dividers. And I decorated the page opposite the divider with one of my favorite Ben Franklin quotes and images that represent my two loves: crafting and writing. Thanks again to my friend Mimi for the awesome library ephemera! Here's another section-- again with the Webster's Pages divider, then my collage opposite of it. I chose this quote to help me remember to be kind and to do all I can to bring happiness into the lives of those around me. This is the page that I made for the beginning of the January section itself. I've repeated the typewriter theme, which I adore. The cards all came from the Project Life Odds and Ends kit. I used the Tim Holtz bird die and the "Good Vibes Only" sentiment comes from Bo Bunny's Calendar Girl paper pack, which is a new favorite of mine. This planner is a work in progress, but I'm enjoying the journey and look forward to filling this journal/inspiration notebook with lots of good things in 2016!
