Here's my card for today's featured stamper challenge on SCS. I was drawn to the embossed vellum panel on this card, so I used it for my challenge card. I liked the clean, simple look of the original card, so I kept the look and layout in my version. I replaced the butterfly image in the original with one of the smaller butterfly images from the 3 Step Butterfly set from Kitchen Sink Stamps. I stamped the butterfly on a piece of shimmery white cardstock, then layered it on a brown scalloped circle. I embossed a piece of white vellum using the Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers folder and layered that on the cardfront. The adhesive is hidden under the pink satin ribbon. I'll be back tomorrow with more from the Kitchen . . . Materials Used: 3 Step Butterfly stamp set (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, and Close to Cocoa Classic inks, Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Chocolate Chip, and Shimmery White cardstock, white vellum, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); Stylized Flowers embossing folder (Cuttlebug); pink satin ribbon (Michaels); circle and petite scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); white cardstock (Georgia Pacific)
I'm popping in today to share a card that I made for the Mama Elephant Photo Inspiration Challenge: I was inspired by the soft colours, the curved edges of the bottles and the liquids in the bottles to make my card. I started with a soft stone card stock base. Then, I trimmed some card stock (PTI's white, aqua mist, tropical teal, spring moss & hawaiian shores) by hand, adhered it to a thin sheet of card stock and ran it through my die cutting machine with Mama Elephant's Femme Frames scalloped die. I ran some vellum through with the stitched rectangle die from the same set. On this, I stamped part of the sentiment (from Mama Elephant's Smitten stamp set), using some washi tape to mask out the "you" & heat embossed it in white. I die cut the "you" (from PTI's Wonderful Words) three times (twice in tropical teal and once in white) and stacked them together before adhering them to my card. A few 4mm sparkling clear sequins & 6mm aquamarine sequins from Pretty Pink Posh finish it off. I'm also linking this cards up to this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Keep It Clean & Simple. Thanks for looking!
Good morning! Thought I would drop by quickly this morning to share a couple cards using the brand new STAMPtember release from Simon Says Stamp! First up, a simple card using the brand new Tattered Poppy Wafer Die: I layered it all up, then added some Glossy Accents to the center and sprinkled with Tim Holtz distress glitter. Used some Crate Paper pattern paper, some torn edge vellum, a sentiment from another SSS stamp set - Inside and Out Sayings, and finished off with some jute twine and a few flicks of white Mister Huey's Mist. Next up - a super fun shaker card using Congratulations Circle Wafer Dies! For this one, I used some SSS cardstock, and die cut the circle out of the center of the white, then again with the green and inlaid that in the white negative space. I cut the house and layered it underneath with some torn vellum strips to ground it, along with a sparkly assortment of Pretty Pink Posh sequins and seed beads. Finished off with some jute twine! Pattern paper is also Crate Paper. Look at all the fun sparkly goodness! Gold, Clear, and Lime Sequins in varying sizes, and a few white seed beads! Have fun checking out all the new SSS goodies! I'm linking this second card up with the current Work it Wednesday Challenge - Fall/Autumn theme (the colors on this make me think of fall and the changing leaves!): Also linking these up with this weeks Anything Goes Challenge on the Wednesday Challenge Blog: Thanks for dropping by this morning! Have a wonderful day!
Isn't it lovely when you see something and you have a light bulb moment and think 'I could do something like that'!! That is what happened when I saw a card over on Susan's blog which had been inspired by something she saw on Pinterest. The original is using Alexander Renke paper which as those who live here in the UK know is a little bit like trying to source Rocking Horse Poo for your rose bushes (with a price tag to match) - so I decided to stamp my botanical images background instead! I used a variety of leaves and foliage stamps, inking them in Bundled Sage DI and some Versafine pale blues and greens. Vellum laid over and a die cut sentiment with a couple of enamel dots and finished. This was quite a quick card to make and I am really pleased with the outcome. Hope you like it too! We finally got to see my Ma-In Law recently for the first time since lockdown and even though her broken back has healed reasonably well she is struggling now with the steps outside her door. So she has made the decision she needs to move to ground floor sheltered accommodation. Which sounds fine - except we are now faced with the mammoth task of clearing out her current place before we can put it on the market. She has been to say the least a hoarder! This week I have brought home 2 massive cardboard boxes full of unused unopened sewing thread (last week it was SIX cupboards full of material!!) I am placing the threads on a craft site to see if any of my friends want them - so if you are looking for sewing thread going cheap here in the UK, send me a message and I will send you some details! Have a lovely day whatever you're doing and thanks for any comments you leave! x

When I started to design this card, I had planned to follow a challenge sketch. I’d chosen the paper, die cut the butterflies, and cut a card base to size. However, once I’d attached th…
Vellum Paper is a popular material for card making and wedding invitations. Here are some tips and techniques for working with this translucent material for your paper crafts and projects. Vellum has a very polished
Sometimes when I emboss vellum, it cracks. You can hide the cracks by mounting it on a white panel. What about when you don't want white on white? So I started thinking about how to hide the cracks. One of my favorite techniques is to rub a ink pad on an embossing folder. I thought maybe using white pigment ink would hide the cracks. So I rubbed my favorite white pigment ink, Hero Arts Unicorn on the embossing folder. Remember that if you rub the pad onto the RAISED areas of the embossing folder, it will push the ink into the RECESSED areas of the embossed panel. If I rubbed the ink on the top side of the folder, where I usually do, it would push the ink into the backround, not what I wanted. I want the ink to hit the leaves and branches, the raised areas of the panel after embossing. I usually do this by embossing the paper first, then taking an ink pad and carefully rubbing it over the raised areas. But when the image doesn't fully cover the panel, sometimes ink gets where I don't want it to by, namely the background, and I end up with a messy panel. Several people told me it's difficult for them to rub the ink pad over the panel. If when you rub the ink pad over the embossing folder, wipe the ink off any places you don't want ink to end up. Here is my YouTube video of how I applied the ink, sometimes seeing is easier than reading. How to attach vellum to a panel without seeing glue? Cut the vellum longer than the panel and fold over the excess. Put the adhesive on the fold and attach to the back of the panel. If you look under the video in the description, the products are linked. I don't have an affiliate link to Simon Says Stamp but I have links for the other products where available. The vellum I used is 65 lb Darice brand, this is a very old pack, I'm not even sure Darice is still in business. Also I should mention that the Scalloped Frame I used for one card is by Lawn Fawn, also very old. Note that the colors of the inked panels behind the vellum are very bright, the vellum softens the colors quite a bit. You can see that in the video. My links are in the description under the YouTube video, everytime I try linking products here, they kick my video off because they think it's spam. So here is a link to Scrapbookcom and Spellbinders, where I buy most of my products. Using my links, at no additional cost to you, lets me and these companies know you find my content useful. I do get to see which tutorials are helpful and which are not. So thank you to the people who have used my links! I post several times a week on Instagram @Susanbcards. Thanks for looking, Susan
I love these flowers stamped and embossed on our Vellum! It's such a soft and pretty look. This is one of the cards we made at my Card Clubs this month! Aren't they gorgeous! We inked the flower stamps from Secret Garden in Versamark ink and stamped them on our Vellum card stock. Love this paper!! We then heat embossed them in White embossing powder. Next we sponged the back side of these flowers with Calypso Coral, Baja Breeze and...
Vellum is so versatile, very affordable and probably in every crafters stash. There is a super easy way to glam it up that you have to try!
This card was created for a friend who recently lost her sister to cancer. It is a white layer on white card. The window was cut out from the top layer with a die and the big shot. The layers of card stock and vellum were attached behind the opening after embossing them with embossing folders. I enjoyed trying this technique, which was a new one for me. My inspiration for this card came from a creative stamper, Birgit Her lovely thank you card really caught my eye! Thank you for visiting today! Come back again soon.
It has been a long time since I’ve felt this inspired, I had forgotten how much I loved the Hero Arts Flickr Group. What a talented bunch of women – I was inspired by Heather Maria to c…
Hi everyone, the weekend is coming to a close here. I've had a good day though, did a bit of everything, baking, housework and crafting! A couple of colleagues at work are leaving, so this is one of the cards I've made. I stamped and fussy cut the butterflies and coloured them with inktense pencils. Darnell at DJKardkreations is hosting her 4th NBUS challenge, so unearth your never before used schtuff, (that you just had to have) and play along! My NBUS is the sentiment stamp from Mama Elephant. I got a few sets for my birthday but have not used them yet! The green silk embroidery thread on this tag was a scrap that a friend from work gave me, It's a snippet so I'm visiting the snippets playground at Pixie's Crafty Workshop. Supplies: Hero Arts butterfly stamp: Mama Elephant Every day Greetings stamp; versafine & clear ep; MFT tag die; vellum; inktense pencils; bling; Darice embossing folder. Thanks for visiting, Cathy x
