You can see their ankles! Scandalous. Modestly covered from head to toe 364 days a year, women began to dress in revealing costumes for Halloween as early as the 1820s, as a one day rebellion.
With the internet on a crazy faze to look into our pasts I want to take this time to look back at the fashion of a certain era. Today is Victorian. According to Wikipedia; βThe Victorian eraβ¦
Wonderful dress inspired by Victorian age fashion plates of the second half of 1870-s. It consists of a jacket and a skirt. The jacket is decorated with thin soft lace and with the "macrame" lace. The strict romance of this dress is achieved by artificial flowers that have been made by hand especially for this model of dress. The jacket has comfortable and functional lacing along its back which provides a perfect fit and comfortable wearing. The skirt has inserted lacing to regulate its pleats while creating a classic Victorian silhouette. The model of this dress has an open neckline but additionally, you can order a detachable chemisette - traditional detail of the 19th-century costume. In the fashion of the Victorian age, one and the same dress could be worn as for walks, with strictly covered top of it, so as a costume for the evening dinner, when it was acceptable to be with an open neckline. The model on the photo is wearing a petticoat and a bustle cage to achieve the visual volume effect of the Victorian skirt. Petticoat, chemisette and the bustle cage aren't included in the price of the costume but you can order them here: This costume can be tailored using blue colored taffeta for those who like cold colors. The costume is perfect for photoshoots, theme weddings, Victorian age styled parties, and victorian picnics. Details: Jacket and skirt are performed by cotton velvet and taffeta (it is possible to recreate this costume with natural silk in custom order). Buttons are velvet and hand made. The skirt is made of taffeta. Completed with basque from the same material as the jacket. Decorated with different kinds of laces and hand-made voluminous flowers and beads. The costume is made to order. ___________________________________________________________ β₯Bustle cage: https://etsy.me/2QifgKC β₯Petticoat: https://etsy.me/34Vha7G β₯Chemisette: https://etsy.me/2O89PLm β₯See all Victorian dresses: https://etsy.me/3bG5GJN ___________________________________________________________ =SHIPPING= We provide Standart airmail shipping by default, but another option is express shipping via UPS, please, contact us for details. =CUSTOM ORDERS= It is possible to recreate this costume with other materials and coloring (text us for a pay details). This is my last one.... and since Burda no longer distributed retail in the USA, now impossible to find anymore! A dress in the late Victorian style! Suitable for Steampunk Cosplay! This pattern is Uni-Sized - with measurements from US Size 10 to Plus Sized 22! Some sewing patterns can be difficult to find... then there are Burda patterns - almost impossible to buy here in the USA (at least at a reasonable price!). My local store only puts them on sale once a year and stocks just one of each pattern. Slowly obtained as surplus from our own costume pattern collection, here are some historical 19th century and Steampunk worthy patterns for both men and women. All Burda patterns come in just one size option (USA Size ranges listed below). As I can find more (rarely) I'll add them here to this sale. You can see the front and backs of each pattern in decent high-definition images up at the top under Pattern Size Most of the Burda US pattern sizes range from Size 10 to at least Size 22 for Misses - several of the patterns offer extended Plus Sizes up to Size 26, most of the Men's sizes are about 36-50, with minor variations. If you have any questions about any of the patterns - ask me. ***************** Reminder: You are buying a sewing pattern β NOT a completed garment! All sewing patterns are NEW or As-New, unopened and unused, complete with instructions... but can (especially OOP patterns) have normal minor cosmetic imperfections to the envelope, such as folds, wrinkles & tears or signs of age. As originally purchased from manufacturer. Stored with care in a smoke-free household Photos and scanned images are illustrative to provide the buyer with the most detail and creative ideas possible for this pattern β in some instances some, most, or all pictures were not taken by me. If I have used a copyrighted image in error, let me know and I'll either provide appropriate credit or remove it. ~ ~ ~ Check our other auctions and our new eBay store to see all of our other Victorian/Edwardian, Fantasy, Cosplay, Gothic and Steampunk and other Costume sewing patterns! Overseas buyers welcome! Please check our Etsy or eBay Store to see all of the sewing patterns and other items available this week. We don't cross-post every item we sell also on eBay UK but we will be happy to internationally ship any pattern that we sell! USPS has recently raised its domestic and overseas mail shipping rates again, and significantly β My Overseas package mailing cost for mailing a pattern to Europe just increased by about an additional $4 as of January 18, 2016. Iβm not happy about this either, but I have discounted combined shipping for multiple purchases! Also for some reason using online postage it costs me almost as much to mail to Canada as anywhere else in the world! ~ ~ ~ Rules of the Road: β’ Weβve been buying and selling online for twenty years (since 1998) but this is a hobby, we are not professionals. If there is a problem β LET US KNOW ASAP and we will try to resolve the situation to everyoneβs satisfaction. β’ We try to take multiple detail photos of items to improve the buyerβs appraisal of the item and describe items to the best of our ability. Email us if you have any questions before you bid! β’ Yes, we will happily do combined shipping of multiple purchased items for significant savings - upon request. eBay and Etsy should automatically calculate a combined shipping discount, but contact us if it doesnβt β’ In order to reduce as much as possible the shipping costs to the buyer, our items are normally shipped out for US buyers via online eBay/USPS First Class Mail and without insurance, unless the buyer requests otherwise. International buyers can track shipment via their Customs online tracking number, but remember a delay in customs of up to a FULL MONTH is possible - and entirely and completely beyond my control! β’ Returns cheerfully accepted within two weeks of receipt only if we have made a serious mistake with the description (pattern noted as being uncut was actually cut - or instructions missing). Refund amount to only include the original purchase + shipping cost, not return postage. β’ Buyerβs remorse is not an acceptable reason to request a refund! My current usual mailing day for patterns is Monday or Tuesday. I also can only check eBay & Etsy email a couple of times a week, at best. Send me a separate email via Contact Seller if you require expedited shipping!

Oh where to begin? Fabulous lush textured velvet and shimmering taffeta made up with beautiful attention to detail in the Victorian style. A rich patterned textured velvet makes up the polonaise bodice. The fitted bodice has a high neckline and sleeves with a gentle pouf at the shoulders. The sleeves are caught just above the elbow, and then continue with a ruffle of the same lush velvet fabric. The hemline of the bodice "cuts away" from the center front to form deep points on either side, and a deeply pleated long peplum that has the look of an trained overskirt at the back. The entire hemline has a deep flounce of the same velvet fabric as the bodice. Taffeta covered buttons close the front. The full taffeta skirt features a deep band of ruching over an equally deep flounce at the hemline. The skirt is made in copper taffeta to coordinate with the mocha brown velvet; and made in black taffeta to coordinate with the mulberry velvet. 63% Acetate/37% Rayon Velvet and poly Taffeta skirt - please dry clean only. The model is also wearing a hat, earrings, gloves, extra full crinoline, and boots - all are available priced separately. Recollections clothing is made in America.
