In urban areas, storm water picks up pollution mainly from impervious surfaces and conveys it through pipes either directly to recipients or to a wastewater treatment plant. An alternative to this approach is ecological storm water management, where polluted storm water is treated and volumes are reduced through a variety of techniques that include infiltration, retention/detention, bio filters, and structural controls. The process of planning, developing, distributing and managing the optimum use of water resources is called Water Resource Management. Save water save life!
Waste Water Treatment and Water Management is an extension of the efforts to compile the treatment and management process of water along with its existing policies into one book. The author believes that the policymakers must rethink on 'Polluter pays principle' and if possible, need to redesign this concept as it somewhere gives freedom to damage the environment if one has enough money to pay.

This is third in the ongoing series of blogs on Urban India Going Underwater. Read the first and second blogs here. In the last few years many Indian cities have started working on interventions aimed at flood-proofing and stormwater management at various scales. Bhopal’s green-blue smart city plan, Delhi’s Masterplan 2041, Chennai’s water as leverage initiative, all address at an urban policy and development guidelines scale. Other cities are experimenting with landscape design led solutions to tackle the flood fury such as Chennai and Bengaluru with recharge wells.
This book is a comprehensive study of modern and traditional water supply systems. A water supply system is an interrelated compilation of sources, pipes, and hydraulic control elements delivering set water quantities at preferred pressures and water qualities. This book incorporates chosen topics on theory, review and realistic function models for water supply systems study, including, strategy for temporary analysis, sustainable management of local water supply systems, infrastructure asset administration, optimal pump preparation, demand improbability, errors in water meter measuring and indicators for water mains treatment.
