New House? New Sign! Create a striking focal point to your home and be the envy of your neighbours with our contemporary, low maintenance steel signs cut from Corten steel (304 grade). Also known as Weathering steel, this is often referred to by the trademark COR-TEN steel. This naturally rusts over time, providing a striking, on-trend finish. It doesn't corrode, so no maintenance needed! We start the rusting process for you and then we leave the rest to mother nature! Our standard thickness is 1.5mm thickness, Corten Steel. This listing is for a square shaped sign. If this shape does not suit then please see our other listings. We offer various sizes. Holes and fixings are provided with your sign screws are standard but we we also offer stand off fixings and for these we also enclose a helpful fitting template to help you position the sign correctly. Your chosen wording / design will be cut into the steel. Please write the wording along with your font choice (see last image for the font choices) for your sign with your order. Price includes 12 letters/symbols all of which need to be 30mm height minimum so please bear this in mind when ordering. IF more than 12 letters/symbols are required please do ask for a quote via a convo link and we can offer a quotation for you. Other fonts MAY be considered if we have then and if they are easily adaptable for the cut out - i.e. tabs will be required). Proofing - a proof will be created and emailed to check for errors. Once the proof is approved via email, the order will be sent into production. Colour - this sign is designed to rust from an initial light rust colour that we start for you (as shown in the images on the listing). Once you have positioned your sign outside the rust reaction will continue and the Corten sign will rust further. The colour will change and the patina will reach a rich dark umber colour (this takes 6 to 12 months depending on local weather conditions). Indeed we are one of a few companies that actually start the rust process as most other companies send out Corten in it's original unrusted state.

Corten Steel Outdoor Sculpture. This contemporary outdoor sculpture celebrates the magnificence of women and of their limitless reach. It’s part of the series “I Can Soar”. All the pieces in the series are named after bad-ass goddesses. Sol was the Norse goddess of the Sun. The work is constructed of slatted “self-weathering” steel. The Corten steel will form a natural orange/brown patina and then stop rusting protecting the steel from further rust for a lifetime. In the video you see pieces that have reached about half of their rusted patina. It will take about 9 months outdoors to reach the full patina. The work started as a 24” tall hand-sculpted wax model. The model was digitized and then manipulated digitally. The work is minimal – part of the challenge was to determine the minimum number of pieces needed to achieve the feel of the model and to retain structural integrity. The small base and tall nature of this piece means it will require bolting to a concrete or timber plinth. It should not be left unbolted. If you cannot bolt it for a day or three, you can use a weight on the front to prevent it from being blown over in a strong wind. I used a 50lb bag of plaster during installation in my sculpture garden over a long weekend before I could borrow the hammer drill to bolt it down.

Climate zone 4 marine near Seattle. I'm in the planning stage of a job to build a small craft studio, to be clad in part with "weathering steel" panels on the exterior. This stuff is fairly heavy and impermeable, compared to the cedar siding we usually install, so I'm trying to determine the best way to do it. The building will have a concrete slab floor, 2x6 walls with R21 batts, and an open rafter/car decking ceiling with 6" polyiso over it and metal roofing over the iso. The owner states that it will not be heated to normal indoor temperature much of the time.
