If you want to build a welding cart for MIG, TIG, or ARC welding then this tutorial and blueprints will guide you.
This is not the cart, brackets, or any physical thing in any of these pictures. It is just the plans/digital download. This was generated in Fusion 360, but the files generated should be able to be imported into any major CAD/CAM software. Standard issue welding carts start at $300 and just go up steeply from there. Especially if you have a multi-purpose rig like the ESAB 205ic that I have. There’s one bottle for CO2/Argon and one bottle for straight up 100% Argon. I also have a growing collection of TIG filler rod and needed a better, more moisture proof storage/access solution. Harbor Freight sells carts for $160 (after all the coupons) and with these brackets, you can convert them into welding carts. Some notable features: - I extended the wheelbase to make sure the heft of the tanks are inboard of the back wheels so it doesn't tip. - The curved edges are to be hammered into shape around the base of the bottles so there’s no chance of them slipping off. - The lid can be used for a light-use table with some of angle welding magnets to prop it up. - You can mount the brackets to either end of the cart. I'm left handed, so the welder sits to my left and the drawers face me. If you're right handed, you can mount them to the other end. What you will need to supply (aside from a welder and the tools to cut the parts out): - Appropriately thick enough steel to support the bottles - Tabs/loops for the straps to hold the bottles to the brackets - Straps to hold the bottles in I've had great success cutting these with my Langmuir Crossfire plasma table. A great DIY project for the budding welder! (If you don't have something to cut these with, message me)

*PDF plan only. No physical items will be shipped* This is a downloadable PDF file sent automatically by Esty after purchase. The pdf file is printer friendly and will fit on 8-½” x 11” paper. I recommend that you are able to weld or are in the process of learning to weld to make this. In my quest to gain more space in my personal shop, I started looking into off the shelf machine bases. I quickly found that most of these machine bases just weren’t up to my standard. They had small wheels, flimsy construction, and so on. They did not seem like products that were going to go the distance. I designed this mobile machine base to be a reliable and sturdy base for moving my machines. They feature 5” diameter wheels and an all welded steel frame. I have made three of these so far, custom to my different shop tools. I am pleased with there functionality and design. The plans include a dimensioned drawing of a mobile machine base that I made with dimensions that I used. The drawing includes callouts for all hardware and materials used. In the drawing, there are several detailed views to aid in the construction. Also, in the purchase package is a spreadsheet detailing materials and parts needed. Since it is custom you will need to measure the base of your machine and change certain dimensions to suit your machinery. All of my plans are designed and tested by myself from start to finish Here is a link to a YouTube video of myself assembling one of these for my table saw. The video doesn't cover every aspect of the build but should give you a good idea of what to expect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHyhIeYwl1k&t=19s ______________________________________________________________________________________ Costs: Hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, wheels… etc..) = $120 Metal (rectangle tube, flat bar… etc..) = $140 Plywood (the one I used was scrap) = Up to the user Plans... of course = $4.65 *Material cost will vary depending on the size of cart you build and outfitting of your mobile machine base. ______________________________________________________________________________________ Tools I Suggest You Have: - Horizontal bandsaw or a metal cutting chop saw capable of mitering. - Drill press or a battery operated drill - Press brake or a vise/hammer for bending the wheel brackets - Fireball tool squares. These are really awesome but magnetic squares will suffice - Welder ______________________________________________________________________________________ Please check out some of my other builds and subscribe to follow along!
