Vintage Marcel Breuer for Thonet B12 Bauhaus Console Side Table This console table, model B12, was designed by Marcel Breuer in 1928. It features two wooden ledges supported by a frame of continuous tubular steel. The concept for Breuer's tubular design was to make furniture that would not only fit modern architecture, but have functionality as well. This table is a prime example of this approach. Origin: produced by Thonet in the 1930s. Condition: in very good vintage shape. The wooden shelves have no marks or cracks, just some faint discolouration towards the sides for the top shelf and a couple of small scratches and dents along the edges of the bottom shelf. Overall the tubular frame is in excellent condition with minimal marks and no signs of rust. The entire structure is stable. If placing the console table over a radiator we recommend leaving at least a 10cm gap between the top of the radiator to the underneath of the console table due to the heat exposure. We have chosen a blend of natural waxes that finish the wood with a beautiful lustre, accentuating the natural knots, grains and character of the timber. Assembly: The console table and legs will arrive flat packed, the table will have pre-drilled holes and screws/fixings will be included - all you will need is a screwdriver to assemble. The console table is built to naturally lean into the wall however, we highly recommend fixing to the wall to provide extra sturdiness - we provide a wall fixing and screws for you to be able to do so. Care instructions: Easy to clean - wipe down with a damp cloth. Please do not use any harsh chemicals to clean for example, flash wipes, JIF, bleach etc. Please do not put any drinks/vases directly on the surface, please use a coaster or place mat to protect the wood. If you would like to polish, please leave it a few weeks and then use a wax polish. Due to the natural properties and variations of the wood the finished wax may differ slightly to some photos.
