Santa Fe eastbound #16 "Texas Chief" meets westbound freight #399, just south of the bridge that carries the lanes of Interstate 40 over the Santa Fe's tracks. The Rock Island's Memphis-Tucumcari route is practically below me. Once the "Texas Chief" gets past the I-40 overpass, the F-units will start by the platforms of the art-deco designed OKC station that was built when the Santa Fe's north-south mainline through here was elevated in the '30s. Needless to say, more changes have by now made the ATSF right of way just about the only thing that has stayed the same from 47 years ago, albeit renamed BNSF. That I-40 overpass is probably gone while the multiple lanes have been moved down alongside the former Rock, now the U.P.
