A French Rococo period painted commode from the 18th century. This antique chest from France has a faux-marbled and serpentine-fronted top, with case below continuing the design downward, and housing three dove-tailed, full-sized drawers. Drawer fronts are decorated with cartouche shaped panels and fitted with Rococo hardware. The apron is scalloped on three sides, and this piece is raised on petite cabriole legs. The finish is likely not original, but certainly old, with the hand-painted green faux marbling at top and the unusual and unique green coloring about the body. There is a lovely patina which is a reflection of the chest's centuries old age and use. This 18th century French Rococo commode is an attractive case-piece which could easily beautify just about any room of the house.

A Rustic 18th Century Italian Walnut Writing Cabinet or Bureau Cabinet on Stand. This lovely piece of Italian provincial furniture comprises a cabinet section above a bureau on four tapering square section legs. It is walnut throughout which has acquired a glorious bronze-like colour and a lovely patination with plenty of variation in colour and an untouched surface. The piece is of late 18th century date and includes nods to the neo-classicism popular at the time such as the Greek key carving of the pediment. The central raised dais provides a focal point for the piece but it is the panelled doors with their lovely colour that really attract the eye. Inside the cupboard doors are adjustable shelves and the bureau section below has three small drawers. A fine example of country furniture produced in Italy at the end of the 18th century and has great charm and decorative appeal with wonderful patination. less
