This pendant must be probably from the 1970's- her enamel period. It had been transformed into a pendant from an earrings. Elegant rectangular pendant with Art Deco style enameling. These vintage Shashi, Inc. 1970s cloisonné enamel pierced earrings are new old stock and feature Art Nouveau flora and fauna with double-sided puffy hoops adorned with birds, leaves and flowers. The colors are Amethyst, Light Rose, Light Azure, Turquoise and Sapphire. Enamels bake at various temperatures, many colors require multiple layers, and fired multiple times. For unknown reasons, pink and red colored enamels are extremely fragile. The back sides are also enameled, providing much needed support for the fragile glass. Vintage treasures with pink or red enamel and no enamel loss are rare and hard to find. The earrings measure approximately 1-1/4" in length by 1" in width, and are marked S925. They were handcrafted by Chinese artisans and sold as inventory number 0054. These were purchased as new old stock and each earring arrived with chipped pink enamel. Thank you for viewing my offerings! Below is helpful information from Laurel Burch's catalog on caring for similar treasures. TAKING CARE OF YOUR EARRINGS We offer the following suggestions for the care of vintage enamel earrings, which has been specifically taken from Laurel Burch's vintage catalog. The enamel itself is a thin layer of glass on the surface of the earring. It should be treated very gently and never bent as that could lead to its cracking or shattering. Fixed earwires and posts are soldered to the earring. The juncture itself must never be bent as this could cause the earwire to separate from the earring. If adjustment must be made, always be sure to support the top of the wire while bending the end portion. Those earwires which are an actual part of the earring design should be adjusted, if necessary, by moving the wire from side to side. They should never be moved up and down as this could loosen the solder. Earwires that are hinged are designed to allow enough movement for easy insertion into the ear. The hinge should never be forced. As silver is a relatively soft metal excessive manipulation and adjustment should be avoided. To clean the earrings (both silver and vermeil) we recommend using a silver cleaning solution, such as Tarn-x. The earring should be first quickly dipped in the solution. It should then be carefully washed in warm water and mild detergent to remove any residue of the dip. If a piece is badly tarnished this procedure should be repeated. Dry gently and your earring will be good as new. We do not recommend the use of rough cloths for cleaning vermeil.

100% handmade sterling silver earrings, covered with hot cloisonné enamel. Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metalwork objects with colored material held in place or separated by metal strips or wire, normally of gold or silver. This process is quite laborious, because all the details require hand processing. Georgian cloisonné enamel counts more than 1200 years of history. Our handmade pendants, earrings, brooches are vibrant with colour and compliment any outfit, prefered for daily wear or a special occasion. Materials: Sterling Silver, Fine Silver, Cloisonne enamel Weight – 6 gr (approx) Drop Lenght – 2.2 cm; 0.9 inches Lenght – 3.5 cm; 1.4 inches Width – 1.8 cm; 0.7 inches About it: Our jewelry pieces are created using a combination of enameling and metal clay techniques. The Cloisonné focal is comprised of multiple layers of enamel (finely ground glass), that are applied wet with a fine paintbrush to a prepared base of textured fine silver. We carefully bend fine silver Cloisonné wires into shapes using hand held jewelry tools including pliers, tweezers, and mandrels. We then transfer and fuse the wires to the fine silver base. Next, We begin to fill in the design with many thin layers of enamel. Between each application of enamel, the piece is fired in a kiln at 700-800 degrees Celsius, until the enamel flows. As we add layers, and build depth, we carefully blend our colors and add fine silver foil elements to add interest and movement to the design. Lastly, the piece of art is polished to a glossy surface that shines from every angle. Such subtle variations make each handmade piece unique. Packaging: All our jewelry comes beautifully and safely packed in a gift box. You are welcome to include a personal gift message (please contact me via message). Shipment Information: We ship worldwide from Georgia, Tbilisi and you will get a tracking number for every purchase. Standard shipping: 2-4 weeks (for FREE). Thank you for visiting our shop!
