Seven years ago, we made the long drive to Macon one night so our kids could experience a classic old Drive In Movie theater. We fell in love with this place - it was charming in every way. Built and run by a family - who lived right next door. If you bought something at the snack bar and had at least 50 cents change coming, you'd receive a Kennedy half dollar. Kind of a tradition with them, I guess. The kids thought that was cool and we still all have those half dollars! Planned to go back the next season, but a huge storm took down the old screen in May of 2004. There was talk of rebuilding, but it didn't happen. This past weekend was the first time we'd been back by there. So heartbreaking to see it abandoned and decaying. I imagine there are a lot of good memories of carefree summer nights floating around out in that field.
