55009 (D9009) "ALYCIDON" restarts an engine at the Doncaster Works 'Deltic Farewell open day' on Sunday 27th February 1982. 55009's final service train was the 1A40 21:00 Newcastle - King's Cross on the 30th December 1981, although it was also stand-by locomotive for the farewell railtour on the 2nd January 1982. 55009 was bought for preservation by the Deltic Preservation Society and departed Doncaster Works in August 1982.
