SPLIT - Originally know as Bonsai, was the fourth map we made for VALORANT. With Japan as the inspiration, this map went through many iterations, not only in IP/artistic direction, but also map design tweaks and balances. For Split I had the opportunity to lead the team on the beginnings of artistic exploration of the Beautiful Corner, the first attempt at hitting the artistic look/feel of an area on the map. Working closely with our Art Director, this Beautiful Corner was figured out by the maps team before any other content creation went into the rest of the map. Some of these early screen shots can bee seen in the "Attack Path B" image. Later in the development cycle of Split, I took a 1st pass at the Kingdom architecture towards the A side of the map. As you can see by the various designs and shape language in the "Attack Path A" image, this was an evolving process. The images shared here are of areas that I primarily modeled/UV/LM UV's/set-decorated, and wanted to showcase for the particular emphasis or creative work I contributed. However, all areas of the map get touched by other artists on the maps team, as we collaborate to create a final product. Checkout the rest of my Uncharted 4 levels! https://www.artstation.com/artist/autocon I served as Environment Artist for Madagascar on Uncharted 4 at Naughty Dog. I was in charge of developing the look of this level while working closely with my texture artist Genesis and game designer James Cooper. We created the different types of surfaces the player would drive the jeep across as well as most of the organic assets used throughout the level, including the abandoned pirate watchtowers used for combat. We also worked with David Baldwin and Heather Cerlan who used the look we established to help build there own sections of the Madagascar level.
