About The Artwork I like paintings that move, that wont give in and fight back - hard! Restless and urgent it tempts the viewer with mixed emotions. For me these are the core elements of abstract paintings or drawings. As the painter of a complex abstract painting I (and probably most abstract artists) have to have courage to let something take over. Once this process starts you must go with it as much as you possibly can because if the phone rings and you answer it the state of recklessness will leave the room. ~ Thank you for visiting my shop and welcome to phatlizzardart, original abstract art by me, Liz Skelton. All artwork is original and hand-painted by me in my garage-studio :-) ~ This painting is part of a body of work called Abstract Distraction. It is 30x40 inches and is painted on stretched, gallery-wrapped canvas and is shipped ready to hang. ~ I love having loads of different blues and pinks together then contrasting with black, cream and orange. I mostly use brushes and mark-making tools and paint in layers to expose certain parts of the underlying layer. This series let's me be super adventurous when I mix color, there are no boundaries and I find real freedom when painting this body of work. ~ I only use premium acrylic paints & sometimes acrylic pens and ink on archival quality canvas that has a 1 and 1/2 inch profile. All artwork is protected with an archival-quality clear acrylic coating. The sides are painted black. ~ The signature appears on the back of the canvas. ~ Colors may vary slightly due to different computer monitors but I've done my best to ensure each image is a close as possible to the original item. ~ Copyright for all artwork is retained by the artist.

The art, fearfully esoteric and influenced by its creator’s séances and spiritualism, matches a present mood of restless searching, Peter Schjeldahl writes.

An abstract collection designed to be interpreted differently amongst each unique viewer. Gloria is inspired by self-discovery and exploration. While the works are both abstract and personal, each piece is also created to bring viewers in, and invite them to consider their space, their thoughts, and their own stories. Hollis Taggart Galleries is pleased to present an exhibition of the recent paintings of Bill Scott. The twenty paintings on view are imbued with a joie de vivre that has long been a hallmark of Scott's lushly colored, abstracted compositions. In addition to these works, this exhibition showcases paintings that introduce an important new compositional element—as the artist re-interprets iconic historical works of art in his own uniquely inventive idiom.
