Circassian rugs were really diverse and used for different purposes. These rugs were an integral attribute of Circassian culture. For example, a bride was required to prepare 3 mats for her wedding to showcase her skills and abilities. It was believed that borrowing a rug for a burial ceremony caused the spirit of the deceased to suffer. Rugs also adorned homes, often hung on walls with traditional musical instruments displayed on them. The rugs were also placed on the floor. Children were thought to sleep on wooden beds covered with rugs, to get a good posture. There was special Puable that was used when cooking. Old Circassian women knew/know the secrets of weaving.
