Today I made a card using the Adorable Elephants stamp set. I made a birthday card. I wanted to use two elephants and the heart shaped balloon. I stamped them onto some white cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. Here are the colors I used. Elephants: W0 – W2 – W5 Ears: RV02 – RV21 – W0 Balloon: R14 – R17 – R59 I die cut the images with my Cuttlebug and went over to my background. I used one of the pattern papers from Let’s Polka in the Meadow, from Lawn Fawn, as my sky. I die cut some clouds with the Puffy Cloud Borders from Lawn Fawn and grass with the Grassy Border, also from Lawn Fawn. I adhered the clouds and grass to the pattern paper. For both I adhered the front layer with foam tape for some extra dimension. The elephants and ballon I also taped down with foam tape. I stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. This sentiment is from the Oh Happy Day stamp set by Avery Elle. As a finishing touch I added some Wink of Stella clear glitter to the balloon and covered it with Glossy Accents from Ranger. This way it looks like an actual balloon. I’m going to send it to my friend Irene, who celebrates her birthday May 12th. Thanks for visiting my blog. All of the yummy pastels make for a darling handmade greeting to welcome baby! Birka Reinitz Birka's dreamy design in shades of purple and blue expertly conveys the magic of our Magical Unicorns stamp set. I love how she created the delightful sky with a cloud mask and inking. Julene VanKleeck Julene, you had me a blue polka-dotted mountains! What an adorable background for the characters from our Warm & Fuzzy Friends stamp set! Challenge and inspiration for card makers, stamping, and die cutting.
I used the Adorable Elephants stamps set from My Favorite Things again for today’s card. I started with the background. I wanted to do some water coloring again. I took some water color cardstock from Tim Holtz and first covered it with water. Then I started adding Distress Inks to it with a paint brush. I used Spun Sugar, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. I kept working it until all the colors blended. When the water colored background was completely dry, I sprinkled some water on it and dabbed the drops off with a paper towel. This adds some great detail to the card. I put the background aside so it could dry properly and I went ahead and stamped the images. I used one of the elephants and the three butterflies. I stamped them with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and colored them with Copic Markers. Here are the colors I used: Elephant: W0 – W2 – W5/ R22/ RV02 Butterflies: Y02 – Y08 – Y38 I die cut the images with my Cuttlebug. I took my background and stamped the sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black Ink. Then I placed my images, without adhering them, so I could see where to stamp the swirly lines. When I did that, I adhered all the images with foam tape. I added a little grey under the elephant, so he has some ground to stand on. I added some white dots to the butterflies and the elephant’s cheeks, with a Uni-ball white gel pen and also some Wink of Stella to the butterflies. I glued some sequins down and also added some dots of Glossy Accents to the panel. The whole front panel was adhered to a soft pink card base. It could be a Valentine’s Day card or a thank you card. You've made our nice list for stopping by today! We hope you enjoy sketch 259 and all of the inspiration it has to offer! Below you'll find Sketch 259. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Amber Kemp-Gerstel is with us again at the MFT Challenge and Inspiration blog as our December Guest Designer! Amber touts her blog Damask Love as a crafting blog committed to sharing inspiration and instruction with DIY gals worldwide, no matter their level of experience. She's an avid DIY-er, but she found herself intimidated by tutorials around the web. Her goal is to make DIY doable for anyone. You might think that Amber has a glorious spread of a craft space, but earlier this year she transformed her guest room/craft space into a nursery/craft space. You can check out her small but mighty space HERE. It's all about cute and useful storage that keeps this space in check! Let's see how Amber interpreted this week's sketch: Amber keeps her interpretation simple with focus on the three horizontal strips of the sketch. The first two are colored flags and then BAM with the sentiment from the Encouraging Words stamp set on a larger flag. Brilliant! The Challenge Team is at it again with inspiring creations. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 259! Alice does something pretty nifty with the giraffe from the Sweet Safari stamp set. The giraffe's head serves as a replacement for the three horizontal lines on the top right of the sketch. And can I say that I am continually blown away with her no-line coloring? I attempted it for the first time last weekend, and it is NOT easy! Erin Lee's interpretation of the sketch is straightforward and STUNNING. With a little bit of Electric Red dye ink, she creates a gorgeous and sumptuous card using the Roses All Over background stamp as the star of the show on the main panel. The Label Maker Sentiments finish off the design perfectly. Jill admittedly veers from the sketch, but I see the correlation. Do you? The three branches from the Leafy Greenery Die-namics serve as the three horizontal lines, and the Circle Burst stencil give the design the suggestion of the dots in the sketch. And what a fun color combination for the holidays! Totally unexpected. Miriam follows the sketch closely with the stacked sentiment and gets the chance to feature one super COOL bear from the Cool Day stamp set. The snow flurries and enamel dots add fabulous movement to her design. Vera hearkens to the three horizontal lines with a balloon and two butterflies from the Adorable Elephants stamp set and Die-namics (so cute!). The Stitched Mini Scallop Rectangle STAX Die-namics makes for a super sweet frame for her delightful scene. Veronica's version of the sketch made me gasp when I first saw it (I'm not gonna lie!)! The delicious gold leaves, dots, and sequins, the textured panel paired with lovely font from the Hand Lettered Holiday stamp set and the lush ribbon make for an absolutely magnificent new year greeting! Congratulations, Mary-Anne V! You are the randomly selected winner of last week’s sketch challenge. You can view all the entries for last week’s challenge HERE. Hello lovely people, It's weekend time again so I hope you are having fun! I had something else lined up to blog today but decided that since it was World Elephant Day yesterday that the pair of birthday cards I made for some lovely blog buddies were more appropriate... I have coloured the elephants with Copics but I do want to try colouring these cuties with Inktense pencils as well...I'm pretty sure they will look gorgeous either way! The buttons are clear buttons that I customised by adding washi tape across the back and trimming down. The pattern shows through but in a lovely subtle way. This worked out so well that I now need to get my hands on some more clear buttons because I only had a couple! Looking at the photo above reminds me...does anyone else trim twine because it's too fluffy?! Yes, I know it's supposed to be rustic and fluffy but my neat freak brain just can't cope with long strands all over the place, especially on the bow, so I always find myself tidying it up a little - lol! Thanks for visiting and I really appreciate any comments that you leave, Card recipe; Image & sentiment: Adorable elephants - My Favourite Things DP: My Girl - American Crafts Twine: Ivory button twine - The Ribbon Girl Button: from stash Copic colours; Elephant: T0/1/2/3/4 Elephant ears: R000/00/01/30 (R00/0120/21 on darker one) Aqua balloon: BG10/11/13 Pink balloon: R30/32/35 Ground: E40/41/42
Hi everyone! Happy Friday! It’s time to begin the countdown to the FABULOUS new MFT Release! All of the new products will be available on Tuesday, December 8th at 10PM right HERE in the MFT Boutique! I cannot wait for you to see this amazing release! Today I have a card to share with you using the PRECIOUS new BB Adorable Elephants! Oh.My.Word. I LOVE this set and the coordinating BB Adorable Elephant Die-namics! I have a “thing” for elephants, and recently even got an elephant tattoo! I just love them! These elephants are SO sweet! I cut this little guy, and his balloon, from X-Press It Blending Card and stamped him with Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I colored him with Copic Markers and added some highlights with a white gel pen. I popped them both up onto a panel of Sweet Tooth Card Stock, cut with Blueprints 13 Die-namics, and watercolored with Zig Clean Color Markers. I added a mat cut with Blueprints 20 Die-namics, and stamped “THANK YOU for Making Such a Huge Effort” using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I finished off the card with a sequin and two rhinestones. For today’s card I used the Adorable Elephants stamp set from My Favorite Things. I started by stamping the butterflies. I wanted to try something different. I first stamped with the back of the butterfly stamps, so you see a solid butterfly image. I used three different ink pads: Carrot Ink and Lobster Ink from Lawn Fawn and Sour Apple Ink from My Favorite Things. I stamped them in a strip that I masked off. When I finished stamping the solid butterflies, I turned the stamp to the right side and stamped the butterfly images on top of the solid colors, with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. I removed the mask. I stamped one of the elephants and the thee butterflies on some white cardstock and colored them with Copic Markers. Here are the colors I used: Elephant: W0 – W2 – W5 Green butterfly: YG03 – YG11- G14 Orange butterfly: Y17 – YR08 – YR15 Red butterfly: R22 – R35 – R59 I stamped the sentiment with Carrot Ink from Lawn Fawn and then adhered the elephant and butterflies with foam tape. I added some Wink of Stella clear glitter to all the butterflies. I adhered the panel flat to a red cardbase, that is slightly bigger. I wanted a red strip on one side. I rounded off the bottom two corners with my We R memory Keepers Corner Chomper, and my card is done. It’s always fun to use a new technique. You can see that you can create some fun solid images with the back of your stamps. Thanks for visiting my blog. Please leave a comment and follow/ subscribe to my blog!
I received my order from My Favorite Things on Friday. I could not wait to ink up this new set from Birdie Brown. I am a little obsessed with her stamp line and each month I have to have her new stamps. It is always the first thing that I ink up. I decided to watercolor the images and background with Distress inks. I used the new MFT watercolor stripes background and inked it up with Cracked Pistachio ink and spritzed it with water. I used watercolor paper and got two backgrounds completed. I used one for my card today and I will show you another card this week with this same set. I have been super busy and have a stack of new products to use. I am looking forward to a break from work around Christmas and hoping that I am able to get lots of crafty time in. There have been so many great releases. I just need some time to get it all done :-). All products My Favorite Things unless I note otherwise. Stamps: Adorable elephants, Watercolor striped background, Somebunny, Swiss dot background Inks: Hybrid Black Licorice, Hybrid Steel Grey, Distress inks: Pumice Stone, Spun Sugar, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, Broken China Paper: Canson Watercolor, Steel Grey, Limeade, Recollections white Tools: Stitched mini scalloped circle, Blueprints 1 & 2, Stitched horizontal rectangles, Circle stax 1, Somebunny dies, Pretty Pink Posh 6 mm and 4 mm Sparkling clear sequins, Wink of Stella clear MFTWSC258 Thanks for stopping by!
Welcome to My Favorite Things December Release Countdown! Birdie Brown starts off Day 5 with Adorable Elephants--a set of pachyderms that have matching dies, sold separately. I couldn't resist making two cards with this oh-so-cute stamp set, and I know that I'll be making more. I was trying to channel my MFT teammie, Kay, who creates fabulous watercolored backgrounds. I brushed the surface of the watercolor card stock with water, then added some splotches of Distress inks. After the panel was dry, I spattered some white paint over the surface. The little ellie was stamped and colored with Zig brush markers. I stamped the butterfly and flowers and added the elephant with dimensional tape. The card was finished off with a strip of patterned paper and the sentiment that was white embossed and trimmed into a banner. I used the same watercolor technique on the background for the second card, and just changed up the colors. Both card bases are the new Cement Gray card stock which is fast becoming one of my favorite neutral card colors. Plus, it's the perfect "elephant shade", no? Be sure to stop by today's post at MFT for links to other designers participating in the countdown and leave a comment there for a chance to win prizes! Thanks for stopping by, and hope to see you tomorrow! InLinkz.com
Christmas is so close, I can taste it! You might not have time to sit RIGHT down and create, but be sure to pin these ideas and give yourself permission to create sometime very soon! Below you'll find Sketch 260. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week's sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher worth up to $20. Amber Kemp-Gerstel is a jolly gal, and we're so glad she's spending Christmas week with us at the MFT Challenge and Inspiration blog as our December Guest Designer! There's basically not one social media channel Amber hasn't embraced. If you want to continue seeing pictures of her colorful creative life live from Miami, be sure to follow Amber on Instagram. This girl is bold and vibrant and an absolute joy to watch! And if you like babies, her Markus is one little cutie-patootie, that's for darn sure! Let's see how Amber interpreted this week's sketch: Amber has a knack with simplicity, and this card is no exception. She substitutes stars for the circles of the sketch and anchors her sentiment on a colorful banner. Perfection! The Challenge Team is at it again with inspiring creations. Let's see how they interpreted Sketch 260! Alice changes the circles to hexagons using the Stitched Hexagon STAX Die-namics where she features two adorable creatures from the Sweet Safari stamp set. The Leafy Greenery Die-namics is just the right finishing touch to this cute design! Like Amber, Erin Lee is seeing stars in this sketch! Add in bold colors with the Distressed Patterns stamp set and an eye-catching sentiment from the Amazing stamp set and BAM! Jill places colorful pinwheels in lieu of the circles. And it's pretty cool how she did it! The card stock triangles are the negative pieces from the Diagonal Quilt Square Cover-Up Die-namics. An inventive way to use your dies in different ways! Miriam minimizes the sketch to only the lower half of the card giving the design plenty of white space. The tiny butterflies from the Adorable Elephant stamp set mimic the circles of the sketch on a much smaller scale. Vera also uses the elephants from the Adorable Elephants stamp set, but her two floating cuties take the main stage in her design. I love how the balloon rises above the top fold of the card. Tip: Use a larger envelope when your card has parts that stick out on the top or sides. Veronica's version of the sketch tilts to the left which led her to switch up the positioning of her stunning butterflies. The Brick Wall Cover-Up Die-namics and the Roses All Over background add delicious layers to her feminine design, and the strong sentiment fits the size of the butterflies for an excellent sense of balance. Congratulations, Lin Brandyberry! You are the randomly selected winner of last week’s sketch challenge. You can view all the entries for last week’s challenge HERE. Download previous sketches in handy PDF format on our Printable Resource Page HERE. You have until Tuesday, December 29th, at noon EST to add your link and be eligible for the prize of up to $20 in MFT Cash to be spent in the MFT boutique. The weekly prize is a $15 Gift Voucher to My Favorite Things, but if you use MFT stamps and/or dies in your project, you’ll receive an extra $5. Watch for shout outs on the blog every Tuesday, too!
