Currently the island is referred to as the Diemer Vijfhoek. In 2000 it was decided to undertake research into the populations of grass snakes present in the Diemervijfhoek, under the smoke of Amsterdam. As a part of the planning for the new neighbourhood, the area Diemervijfhoek was to be assigned a primarily recreational function. A connecting road for IJburg was built over the west side of the Diemervijfhoek. In addition a stream and hiking paths crisscross the area. These interventions would lead to the loss of habitat for the grass snake: the area will be cut up to a greater or lesser degree, and the pressures of the construction work and recreation have probably an adverse effect on this important snake population. For the sake of the research, 16 snakes had a transmitter surgically implanted. They were followed for a period of three months with the aid of a receiver. The purpose of this research was to obtain insight into the size and use of their habitat. Based on the information obtained, advice was given to the developers of IJburg. For this reason the Diemervijfhoek is partially closed to the public to preserve its ecological value. The western area can easily be explored on foot. I found these lovely fungis on a tree trunk. Coprinellus disseminatus is a species of mushroom in the Psathyrellaceae family. Unlike most other Coprinoid mushrooms, C. disseminatus does not dissolve into black ink (deliquesce) in maturity. The species was given its current name in 1939 by Jakob Emanuel Lange. The mushroom is edible but not worth eating. Too bad I didn't met any snake. De provincie heeft in samenwerking met de Dienst Landelijk gebied vlakbij IJburg Amsterdam een uniek stukje natuur ontwikkeld, de Diemer Vijfhoek. Dit schiereiland is ruim 30 jaar geleden door de bouw van de elektriciteitscentrale ontstaan. In de jaren negentig deed men uitgebreid onderzoek naar de ringslangen in en rond het IJmeer, het zuidwestelijke deel van het IJsselmeer. Omdat in het IJmeer de nieuwe woonwijk IJburg aangelegd zou worden, besloot men in 2000 in de Diemervijfhoek, onder de rook van Amsterdam, onderzoek te doen naar de aanwezige populaties ringslangen. Als onderdeel van de aanleg van de nieuwe wijk zou het onderzoeksgebied een voornamelijk recreatieve functie krijgen. Over de westzijde van de Diemervijfhoek is een ontsluitingsweg naar IJburg aangelegd. Daarnaast doorkruisen een kreek en wandelpaden het gebied. Deze ingrepen kunnen leiden tot habitatverlies voor de ringslang: het gebied zal in meer of mindere mate versnipperen en de drukte door werkzaamheden en recreatie heeft waarschijnlijk een negatief effect op deze belangrijke slangenpopulatie. Voor het onderzoek zijn zestien slangen chirurgisch voorzien van een zender. Ze zijn met behulp van een ontvanger gedurende drie maanden gevolgd. Het doel van dit onderzoek was inzicht te krijgen in de grootte en het gebruik van hun habitat. Met de verkregen informatie zijn adviezen aan de ontwikkelaars van IJburg gegeven. Daarom is nu het oostelijk deel is niet toegankelijk en biedt genoeg rust en ruimte voor de natuur. Het westelijk deel is toegankelijk gemaakt voor de natuurrecreant. Hier is een wandelpad aangelegd dat via een brug uitkomt bij het eiland van waaruit je een prachtig uitzicht hebt op het IJmeer. Het wandelpad komt langs moeraspoeltjes die speciaal zijn aangelegd voor de ringslang. Op een mooie dag ligt de ringslang te zonnen op de dijkjes. Helaas geen slangen gezien maar in het bos kwam ik wel deze mooie Zwerminktzwammetjes tegen. Deze zwammetjes groeien op hout, vooral op dode stronken, stobben en stammen van loofbomen, soms op de schors van levende bomen en op ondergronds hout, in loofbossen op vochtige, vruchtbare bodems. Hoed klokvormig, Ø 5-12 mm, gestreept-gevoord, crème tot muisgrijs met een okerkleurig centrum, jong met fijn harig-wollig, wit velum bedekt. Lamellen wittig tot bruinzwart. Steel 3-5 cm x 1 mm, breekbaar, doorschijnend wit, soms met een lichtgele voet. Vlees grijswit. Smaak mild. Geur geen.
