RAF Ibsley had a very short life, it was opened in 1941 and closed in 1947, during that time it was used by both the RAF and the United States Army Air Force. Today you will not find much left of the base apart from the control tower, a couple of shelters & some bits of concrete aircraft dispersal areas. Most of the airfield was destroyed when gravel extraction started in the 1970's. It is now just a mass of landscaped quarry lakes.
