Sometimes we all need a fairytale. But once you've stepped out of childhood and into the world of hangovers, STD tests, and tax season, sickly-sweet fantasy worlds can lose their charm a little. There's always a place for the Cinderellas and the…
Sleeve designs can be a little bit intimidating. Drafting them is kind of a science on its own, and it’s hard to imagine what shape you need to start with if
Thanks so much for all of your support of my new collection last week!! I’m thrilled with how well it’s been received :) And now i’m back to finishing my Christmas stuff – yay!! I doubt i’ll get through the remaining 9 posts i had planned before christmas, but i’ll try :) Sooo, Bunny’s school has a Christmas show every year. It’s a small private school and they are adding on a new grade each year – so that means that this year they were running seriously short on costumes. My inability to say no, meant I ended up making 20 shepherd and angel costumes. I have to admit it almost killed me. You all know how incredibly busy I am, so adding hours more work into my almost zero free time was hard. But […]

She doesn't just play a Disney Princess... she is one, too.
I suppose you’re wondering who Scarlett is. Well, I’ll tell you. She is the little sister of the main character in the first novel I published, titled The Seer. It’s a contemporary fiction novel with a sci-fi twist and some other cool stuff. And throughout the course of the novel, the main character, Sterling, is knitting a pair of gray gloves for Scarlett. One day I decided that I wanted to find out what the gloves would look like. So I grabbed yarn and needles and got to work. Before I knew it, I had a finished design. And since then, I’ve added other patterns to the line. This cardigan is a top-down raglan with a twist. Instead of the typical plain stitches between the raglan increases, I’ve put in braided cables. In fact, as you can see in the photos, those braids are all over this cardigan! And with the garter ridges as accents, I think it’s a pretty unique design. The instructions are written so that you can customize the fit of your cardigan as you go. Knit in bulky-weight yarn, the pattern is quick, fun, and quite rewarding. (If you knit this in a different weight, make sure you send me the link to your project page--I’d love to see!) SIZING NOTES Bust: 32 (36, 40)“ - S (M, L) Approximate Yarn Requirements: 5 (6, 7) skeins of Berroco Comfort Chunky { I say approximate because the sizing (bust, length, sleeve length) is fully customizable depending on every knitter’s preference regarding fit. } NOTE: larger sizes can easily be made since this pattern is a try-on-as-you-go design! I just did not have it tested, so I can’t give approximate yarn requirements. If you would like to test a larger size for me in exchange for a free copy of the pattern, feel free to reach out!
In lieu of a digital file, if you want a customized print, please contact me with the details. We then can set up a customized order. It makes sense to me that Cleopatra had a cat--probably had many of them since cats at the time were considered sacred. In fact, two feline goddesses were worshipped during Cleopatra's time--Mafdet, goddess of protection of dangerous animals and Bastet, the cat goddess of beauty, women and fertility. Pictured in this painting, "Cleopatra" by John William Waterhouse is Beketaten, the royal cat to Cleopatra. Okay, so I had a little digital art fun and added a cat to the painting. Note the dark expression on Cleopatra's face--very intriguing! This beautiful piece is a digital art composite of actual photographs of the family cats taken by the artist, Kathleen Horner. Nothing conjures memories of special times with family more than when I'm making a batch of Grandma's Homemade Kolaches. They take a little TLC, but they are so worth it. Make sure to let the dough double in size, once in a lightly oiled bowl, and then again once the pastries have been formed. Pastry perfection.
