Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens is a one-of-a-kind destination within Anacostia Park, and it is a hidden gem in Washington, DC. The summer lotus and lily blossoms are a “must-see” during their peak blooming period in July, not unlike viewing the cherry blossoms in the spring. The park is home to a wide variety of biota once native to the region before urban sprawl took the surrounding land. Amphibians, birds, fish, and insects congregate in the marshland in numbers, along with many kinds of plants, including wildflowers. According to a species count by the Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, there were 650 species of insects, 150 species of land plants, 76 species of birds, 18 species of fish, 9 species of mammals, and 8 species of reptiles along with other organisms such as algae, archaeans, bacteria, lichens, mushrooms, and worms. The Audubon Society also does an annual bird count around December, and the count in 2007 came up with 59 different species of birds. All in all, 257 different species of birds have been sighted for all four seasons, including herons, shorebirds, sparrows, and a host of less commonly seen birds. Mammals sighted in the park include beavers, muskrats, minks, deer, foxes, and coyotes. In addition, other wetland plants beside the lilies that thrive abundantly include wild rice and the all-season cattail. Unfortunately, many invasive species, such as snakeheads, have been found in the ponds and marshlands within the park. Production and Shipping Time: Glossy Photo Paper: 5 days for printing, 5 days for shipping. Ready-to-Hang Canvas: 5 days for printing, 5 days for shipping. SHIPPING AND FINISHING DETAILS Depending on the print you select. There are a variety of ways to print my images. 1) Premium Glossy Photo Paper is high quality, professional paper-prints. Sharp, Vivid, and rich colors set this apart from a casual photo print. You'll feel like you're there. Premium Glossy Photo Paper will last a long time. They are designed to be placed in a glass frame, which can be purchased separately (starting at a few dollars at your local Target or online). 2) Ready to Hang Canvas is ready to hang right out of the box with no assembly required. These prints are the ultimate in convenience. Gorgeous finished look. It comes out of the shipping box, finished, and ready to hang with a simple nail into the wall. Canvas Prints are a well-known, high-end way of displaying photographs. The canvas comes in 1.5-inch thick wooden stretcher bars, shaping it the same way an oil painting is traditionally assembled. No staples or ugly lines are visible on the sides (very important). The estimated delivery time for printing, assembling, packing, and shipping is around 10 days. 3) Ready to Hang Canvas (split into 3 panels) This is for larger pieces, and the photograph is split into 3 even panels, 3 separate canvas panels, which are put together to make a single large image. This gives a modern look and allows spectacularly large sizes on your wall! 4) Ready to hand prints on Aluminum. It all starts with your digital file and a specially coated aluminum sheet. Through dye-sublimation, your images and artwork are infused into the metal, taking on unparalleled rich color vibrancy, brilliant luminescence, and unparalleled durability. You will be amazed at the way these images jump off the aluminum. Framing not included - there are options for frames available at local stores or online, and in some cases, I can add framing at cost, depending on your desire. Please make sure to zoom into the art to see how it might appear when on the wall. I use example images in the thumbnail to provide you with an idea of how the image may look with respect to scale. My images are minimally enhanced, but I use intentional depth of field, texture, and very subtle effects to enhance my images. Photographs are original art by Gregory Johnson and may not be used for any other purpose than personal display. Please message me for any specific requirements or questions you might have.
