The Antelopes: Replica Panel Sizes: 24” x 24” | 32” x 32” | 48” x 48” This fresco found in Room Beta1 is adjacent to the Boxing Boys. This pair of animals, which covers the west wall, was preserved in relatively good condition and was successfully restored. Even though the animals are rendered in outline only, the artist revealed exceptional talent by giving them facial expression and depicting them in motion as is shown by the movements of the heads, of the lips, and the tails.

The Andean Condor, Vultur gryphus, is a vulture-like bird species found in the Andes mountains and adjacent Pacific coasts of western South America. It is the largest flying land bird in the Western Hemisphere and the heaviest member of the order Ciconiiformes. The condor is primarily a scavenger, feeding on carrion, and belongs to the New World vulture family Cathartidae. Although about 5 cm shorter (beak to tail) on average than the California Condor, the Andean Condor is undoubtedly larger in wingspan: 108-122 in (274-310 cm). It is also heavier: up to 24-33 lb (11-15 kg) for males and 16-24 lb (7.5-11 kg) for females. Overall length can range from 46 to 53 inches (117 to 135 cm). Measurements are usually taken from specimens reared in captivity.
The Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus) is a New World Vulture that lives in the Andes Mountains and the adjacent Pacific coasts of western South America. Like other vultures the dull red head and neck are nearly featherless and change color in response to emotional states. The Andean Condor has a wingspan in the range of 106.3”-130” (270-330 cm) and total weight of 17-33.1 lb (7.7-15 kg). The body of the Andean Condor has an overall length between 39.4”-52” (100-132 cm), body width of 11.4”-15” (29-38 cm), and standing height of roughly 25.4”-33.7” (64.5-85.5 cm). The typical lifespan of the Andean Condor is between 50-75 years.
