The Nothing Alternative is a method to combat procrastination, coined by crime-fiction novelist Raymond Chandler. Instead of forcing himself to write a predetermined word count each day, Chandler dedicated four hours every morning to either writing or doing nothing at all. He believed in the simplicity of this approach: if he didn't feel like writing, he would do nothing else productive either. Chandler's philosophy was clear: write or do nothing. This method worked for him, and he advises others struggling with procrastination to adopt the same approach.
