Since the ancient Greeks, realism has been aspired by Western art lovers, but during the late 1960s and '70s the popularity of highly-realistic drawings reached its peak. About The Artwork Cristina Troufa want to consolidate the idea of a self-portrait and/or self-representation but for other hand wants to reflect on a spiritual, emotional, and psychological inner self-portrait, that may be done conceptually. In her recent works, she uses her own image in autobiographical paintings that explore her life and spiritual beliefs. As a form of self-knowledge and self-questioning, her work explores an inner world in a symbolic way, which remains inaccessible to the voyeur that can only guess what each painting represents. A self-taught sculptor, Romain Langlois studied medical books and anatomical charts to understand the human body, building his first sculptures using only plaster and clay. Seeking a more permanent material, Langlois turned to bronze, a metal he now incorporates into works that are inspired by nature rather than man. His pieces visually pull apart the natural objects that surround us—building works that appear as bisected rocks, boulders, and tree trunks. These sculptures showcase glistening bronze protruding from their insides, unleashing the perceived inner energy of each object. More

Milan-based designer Andrea Minini (previously) recently completed a new series of animals illustrated with textured moiré patterns, creating an unusual intersection between natural forms and mathematics. It’s curious to see how the patterns give each illustration a great sense of motion, curving naturally with the shape of each animal. If you’re interested, many of these are available as prints here.
