Henri Lebasque (25 September 1865 - 7 August 1937) was a French post-impressionist painter. He was born at Champigné (Maine-et-Loire). His work is represented in French museums, notably Angers, Geneva (Petit Palais), Lille (Musée des Beaux-Arts), Nantes, and Paris (Musée d’Orsay). Lebasque died at Cannet, Alpes Maritimes in 1937.

Carl Larsson (1853-1919) Karin reading (1904) Karin is de tweede vrouw van Carl Larsson, een Zweedse schilder. Zijn eerste vrouw, Vilhelmina Holmgren, stierf in het kraambed bij de geboorte van hun tweede kind. Ook de twee kinderen uit dit eerste huwelijk stierven jong. Carl Larsson en Karin Larsson-Bergöö Karin Larsson, geboren Bergöö was kunstenares. Zij schilderde, weefde, ontwierp meubels en hield zich bezig met binnenhuisarchitectuur. Ze leerde Carl kennen in de kunstenaarskolonie in het Franse Grez-surLoing, net buiten Parijs. Uit die tijd een schilderij van Carl Larsson van een beeldenpark en één van de bouw van de Eiffeltoren die zojuist was begonnen. Van Karin heb ik één aquarel kunnen vinden. Karin Larsson-Bergöö, Boerin op het land Veel meer bekend zijn haar weef- en borduurproducten, zoals tafellakens, gordijnen, kussens, die ook terugkomen op de schilderijen van haar man. In 2009 verscheen over haar een biografie, Karin Larssons värld, geschreven door Lena Rydin. Samen kregen Karin en Carl, links een zelfportret, acht kinderen: Suzanne, Ulf, Pontus, Lisbeth, Brita, Matts, Kersti en Esbjörn. Door de kinderen kwam het kunstenaarschap van Karin op een laag pitje te staan. Wel bleef zij bezig met weven en de inrichting van hun eigen woonhuis. In Frankrijk had Larsson weinig succes, dus keerde het echtpaar terug naar Zweden. Larsson werd directeur van de kunstopleiding in Göteborg. Later verhuisde het gezin naar Lilla Hyttnäs (kleine hut) in Sundborn. Het huis was een geschenk van de de vader van Karin. Toen wat later op de dag – het was 28 mei – het lijkje door een wat onvoorzichtige behandeling aan het huilen werd gebracht, kreeg men er iets meer belangstelling voor, en in de loop der jaren is die nog toegenomen.” Geen vrolijke Frans, zo te horen. Misschien juist door zijn sombere inslag, genoot hij extra van zijn tweede vrouw en schare kinderen. Dat lees ik in ieder geval af uit onderstaand schilderij. Zelfportret met dochter Brita Carl Larsson was een veelschilder. Lezende figuren, meestal zijn vrouw en kinderen, kwamen op nogal wat aquarellen en schilderijen voor. Henri Lebasque (25 September 1865 - 7 August 1937) was a French post-impressionist painter. He was born at Champigné (Maine-et-Loire). His work is represented in French museums, notably Angers, Geneva (Petit Palais), Lille (Musée des Beaux-Arts), Nantes, and Paris (Musée d’Orsay). Lebasque died at Cannet, Alpes Maritimes in 1937.
