The fifth and final post in the series 'How to be inspired by other artists without copying them'. This week, composition. And a round up of the series.
About The Artwork I was born in 1973, and my parents were farmers. In 1999, I got enrolled into an art college with a dream of becoming an artist. I am currently a father, a husband, and a painter. The duality and struggle between a domestic life of being a parent and spouse with a working life became a subject matter to my work. My work expresses conflicts and emotions aroused from distinct social roles through figurative subjects that ranges from models and cartoon characters, to gods. For each piece, I start with a simple drawing on a canvas of a chosen figure/ image. Then, I go into a constant exploration of constructing and deconstructing the image with obsessive amount of acrylics or oils to ease out my emotions. I adapt myself and live out the society through such actions. About The Artwork When I am walking around in the nature, by investigating my path and my creativity, there is suddenly a spark that catches my eyes, that I can reflect to its shapes, texture, and colors. this starts a creative process in me. Then I will search for a female figure with a unique mysterious look, which can be best for me to draw and to paint, so all together can be reflect out of this process. After the digital process I start a process that is more traditional, by using acrylic, ink, graphite, color pencil, aerosol paints, and whatever that is necessary for the final result. Then put an over varnish laqa to protect as necessary. My art is integrating the beauties of the nature with a mysterious femininity that wraps it. About The Artwork Gebhardt Egos, competition, unsolicited opinions — two artists under one roof, is that even possible? It is, if those two artists are Angela and Kris Gebhardt. Decades of life lessons and experiences are visually rendered by husband and wife, large- format, mixed-media artists — peacefully. Gebhardt pieces don’t just hang on a wall, they dominate it. They make statements that stop people and start conversations. To achieve the power in their works, the Gebhardts don’t collaborate and rarely do they share opinions about projects in progress, or otherwise. While they both use a variety of the same materials to create their art, what they produce is distinctly different from each other, and their peers. Hers Only Angela knows what truly inspires her pieces. She expresses emotions in color and shapes that soothe, delight and excite. They are pretty and pleasing. Every letter, note or stroke of paint, is re-worked until perfect. Images, numbers and words are tattooed and layered in acrylic, charcoal, oil, chalk, graphite, paper and more — to form her “auto-paint- ographies”— telling a story that will remain forever hers. Angela’s intensely personal style resonates with patrons around the world and people connect with her work on another plane. Do they know her pain and sadness? Revel in her joy? Bask in her warmth? Like that which inspires Angela Gebhardt, we will never know. His By contrast, Kris’ works are gritty — both literally and figuratively — gray and layered, his subjects are centrally focused over a massaged background. Born out of necessity, he engineered what was available for a base. Practiced over time and throughout many paintings this strategy became his style — matching subject matter to canvas and frame. Used cardboard, worn and tattered tarps stapled to one-by-fours, boxes and dismantled furniture are just a few of the starting points for a Kris Gebhardt “paintumentary.” Each one tells a story about someone he has met, worked with and known — whether that is an actual person, the archetype of a being or himself. His inspiration comes from a variety of places like the Greatest Generation, friends, employers and his own non-artistic career. Gebhardt is proficient at portraying Every Man and his struggles. Never setting out to become an artist, Gebhardt wears many hats. He is a husband, father, entrepreneur, photographer, author, personal trainer and business man and draws his scenes from his many vocations. Theirs Whether you own an Angela Gebhardt, a Kris Gebhardt or one (or more) of each, undoubtedly, their unique individual styles have caught your eye. In this booklet, you will find more of her serene-scapes and his salty-characters. Heroes, villains, animals, influences and a list of prestigious international art shows where you are most likely to meet the artists and see their combined exhibit; along with some of their greatest hits are just beyond this page. Enjoy the art and appreciate learning a little more about the artists, the paintings and their backstory. About The Artwork A zebra crossing is the ultimate metaphor of our well-organized society with its rules and restrictions. It is a recurring element in many of my streetscape paintings. I love to watch people go by, especially when viewed from above. With the bright shade of blue I used for the shadows I want to evoke the vibrance of the city. About The Artwork Cristina Troufa want to consolidate the idea of a self-portrait and/or self-representation but for other hand wants to reflect on a spiritual, emotional, and psychological inner self-portrait, that may be done conceptually. In her recent works, she uses her own image in autobiographical paintings that explore her life and spiritual beliefs. As a form of self-knowledge and self-questioning, her work explores an inner world in a symbolic way, which remains inaccessible to the voyeur that can only guess what each painting represents. About The Artwork 2021 The series was created on the day when I walked past a forgotten advertising pillar. Scraps of old advertising posters hung down and were detached by the wind more and more. The many layers of posters glued over and over again for years was such an inspiring sight that I couldn't walk past it. The thought of transferring these old, multi-layered poster remnants into a new, creative life captivated me so much that a surprising art series and style emerged from it. An incredibly beautiful symbiosis of old and new! is included in the series: Perspective of the time oil on canvas context: Philosophical stance of science fiction with time travel, where the individual alters events from his past, thus modifying his own destiny, either consciously or unconsciously, through cause-and-effect actions, either having encounters with himself or canceling his own existence in a paradoxical way. Such possibilities can manifest themselves in events of a same time. About this artwork: Classification, Techniques & Styles Oil Paint consisting of pigments bound with linseed oil or carnations. The traditional technique consists of superimposing layers of paint increasingly rich in oil for a solid and durable hanger. Surrealism Founded in 1923 by the writer André Breton, it will unite many artists like Salvador Dali (1904-1989), Max Ernst, René Magritte (1898-1967), Victor Brauner (1903-1966). Influenced by psychoanalysis, they see psychic life as a new field for renewing the arts. They will develop new ways to create and use new materials. Technic Painting Painting is an art form of painting on a surface by aesthetically applying colored fluids. Painters represent a very personal expression on supports such as paper, rock, canvas, wood, bark, glass, concrete and many other substrates. Work of representation or invention, painting can be naturalistic and figurative, or abstract. It can have narrative, descriptive, symbolic, spiritual, or philosophical content.
