I seek through my art to represent the life and movement that makes up the entire universe. There is no surface or area of space that is not filled with energy and movement; quantum particles pop in and out of existence even in deepest space. It's the quantum foam of existence. So through my detailed marker drawings, I am representing this endless energy and the unity of animate and inanimate objects—at a subatomic level, it is all one. Matter is just one form of energy. I'm creating a sensation of life through inorganic abstract shapes. This is drawn on acid-free archival paper with a variety of markers. I take anywhere from 6 - 8 weeks on each piece, working with a magnifying glass to produce very fine lines. By request, select framing if you would like me to frame it--I use either black or white matte and frame with museum-quality glass to reduce reflection and prevent color change in light. Please note, if you request framed, it will take an extra two weeks to frame it. Unframed, I will be able to ship same week as ordered.
I always love to tell stories. Somehow this love finds its way into my photography work.

This season, to consider abstraction of form in my designs, I took a look at Wassily Kandinsky. Wassily Kandinsky was a Russian-born artist who lived in Germany during the 1920s where he taught with the Bauhaus school. Kandinsky is primarily famous for being one of the first 'purely' abstr

in my handdrawings I am not interested in depicting something that I`ve seen in the real world, my interest lies in transforming something that I`ve seen in the virtual world. mostly I try to figure out, how simulation and animation programs are trying to help us understand how complex processes happen. (but do they?) since mankind is interested in reality and understanding the world, he produces models of this world. He refer, describes, explains, creates drawings, writings, paintings in which he gives the ability to endure to what is true or or important for him. Through digital programmed realities, descriptions of the world have become in touch with probable possibilities. the virtual space becomes a stage for geometrical performances, whose cause and effect have no "real" source. However, I am transforming and archiveing these repetitive sequences to handmade analogue data, as if I had observed and traced reality. primary I am questioning the access, influence and valence between the physical-realworld and the synthetic-virtual world as well as the effect of the medium on the space. ---------------------------------------------------------- details: stb - series handdrawings, ink on paper, various sizes (c) copyright peter jellitsch 2012 peterjellitsch.com [email protected] ----------------------------------------------------------
Nearly every facet of our lives is governed by some strange notion that is far removed from everyday experience. Ideas matter. Those who deny science are, in fact, denying the modern world itself.

It is philosophers who have the task of exploring what matters to us most—what is freedom? What is it genuinely for us to be happy? What is worth valuing and why?—but it is psychoanalysis that teaches us how we regularly get in the way of our own freedom, systematically make ourselves unhappy and use values for covert and malign purposes. Philosophy cannot live up to its task unless it takes these psychoanalytic challenges seriously. — Jonathan Lear “The parts of Freud’s writings that suggest some level of causal determination in fact coexist with his explicit view that one of the chief goals of psychoanalysis is to increase the patient’s ‘freedom’ (Freiheit), ‘autonomy’ (Selbstandigkeit), and ‘initiative’ (Initiative). Thus the aim of psychoanalysis is to ‘free’ (befrein) the patient from intrapsychic ‘chains’ (die Fesseln), which normally increases the patient’s ‘self-control’ (Selbstbeherrschung) and gives ‘the patient’s ego freedom to decide one way or...

About The Artwork This picture was painted spontaneously. I sat for a long time in front of a black canvas and tried to see where my imagination would lead me and what images would manifest from my subconscious this time. On the first day, a space appeared on my canvas, the paints marked colored nebulae, stretching into boundless distance. The next day, I again looked at the picture for a long time, trying to understand what I would see in this already defined space. Suddenly, from the same matter of space two faces appeared, looking at each other. By their expressions it is clear that they have not seen each other for a long time and now they are closely looking at each other. It’s as if they are very close people who found each other, even if not in that incarnation as they wanted, but they recognized each other and would never separate them... “Resilience” By Ellie Falle In Oil on fully handmade stretcher In my monochromatic painting, I explore an offset composition, guiding the viewer's gaze towards the right side. Using a one-point perspective, the focal point is a solitary child holding a teddy bear whilst standing amidst an ambient space, with a secondary figure emerging in the background. The subject matter delves into the profound feeling of parental neglect, a theme deeply rooted in my personal experiences shaping my identity. Growing up, the concept of neglect was pivotal in shaping who I am today. Through this artwork, I endeavor to articulate the emotions associated with feeling abandoned, employing a nuanced interplay of light and value ranging from intense brightness to profound darkness. The intentional use of stark contrasts aims to evoke a sense of holding space, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the emotional narrative. During the conceptualization phase, I drew inspiration from stock photos while simultaneously envisioning the composition and desired values. Utilizing Procreate, I crafted a mockup that integrated references, blending elements to achieve the envisioned outcome. Although my intention was to include personal photos, the scarcity of images from my childhood led me to use alternative references. A crucial aspect of this piece is the presence of a teddy bear held by the little girl. In the absence of proper parental affection, children often seek comfort in inanimate objects, forming emotional attachments as a coping mechanism. The inclusion of the teddy bear serves as a poignant symbol of this adaptive response, highlighting the resilience of the young, who, despite being out of control in their circumstances, find ways to connect with the world around them. One of my key inspirations stems from Giant Haung's painting, "A Rainy Day in Chicago," crafted in 2015 using oil paint. Haung, an esteemed artist residing in Austin, Texas, doubles as an art instructor and boasts a commendable tenure as part of the Oil Painters of America, participating in numerous prestigious exhibitions. Haung's mesmerizing piece, characterized by its monochromatic palette, captivates a bustling cityscape. As an artist drawn to using color, I found profound inspiration in Haung's deliberate and bold brushwork, drawn to the sharp, definitive strokes that define the urban landscape with a singular color. Seeking to infuse my paintings with a similar sense of dynamism, I sought to incorporate Haung's intense, decisive markings into my own creative process. Embracing this influence, I aim to evoke the energy while infusing my unique perspective and use of color into my piece. This artwork also seeks to provide a visceral experience, inviting viewers to reflect on the profound impact of neglect on a child's emotional landscape. Through meticulous composition, symbolism, and personal reflection, I aim to convey the complexities of growing up in an environment influenced greatly by abandonment and simultaneously observing the resilient spirit that emerges in the face of adversity.
French artist Gaëtan de Seguin's (b. 1971, Montpellier, France) latest series "J+...." is a reaction to the terrorists attack on French Satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that took place in January 2015 and the March that took place later that month in Paris and cities around the world. De Sequin explains, "I immediately wanted my characters to gather and spread out of the canvas. Crowds. Be they dense or sparse, joyful, humble, silent or roaring, moving or obnoxious, etc. Their physical appearance does not matter. It is the combination of their convictions that tinctures the whole group." Each work titled “J+...", represents the number of days after the January 2015 events and when de Seguin began to work on the piece. Within this series, de Sequin employs two artistic methods, paint on canvas and Moucharabieh, a perforated wall composed mostly of geometrical, arabesque motifs, in the form of a screen, to animate his crowds. These anonymous characters, consisting of a multitude of silhouettes almost identical but remain singular, are represented by a unique pattern of markings further illustrates this “mosaic of a society, a patchwork of men”; each having their own fears, anxieties, but also their hopes and desires in a world that bears multiple aspects. These qualities within the painting and sculptural work show the individual as much as it offers him the possibility to melt into a much broader and abstract dimension. Within his sculptural pieces, which employ the principles of the moucharabieh, de Sequin continues to offer a different perspective. Questioning the individuals and his place into the grander scheme, he inserts negative space with the pieces to create an alternative focus for the viewer. As light moves through the sculptural works, casting a shadow of the crowd, de Sequin shows humankind constituted of individuals who interact as much as they ignore each other with a great humanism. After graduating from school and completing his military service, he studied art in Paris at ESAG Penninghen. Throughout his career, de Seguin’s works have evolved from abstraction towards figuration, which he continues to develop to this day.
