A white dress, veil, something borrowed, old, new and blue - these are all the pieces essential to a traditional western wedding gown. And as with every tradition, there's an explanation for every detail in the wedding ceremony. And though we are all used to see white tones on a wedding dress, you don't have to look very far for an entirely different approach to the bride's attire. And as the cultures and wedding ceremony traditions vary from country to country, so does the unique dresses. Some brides adorn themselves in colorful wedding dresses, others paint their hands and faces by local customs, and some hide their faces completely behind layers of jewelry or veils.
In ancient Nahua or "Aztec" culture, xochihua, owner of flowers, was the name given to queer people assigned male at birth. For this culture, flowers were a sign of femininity, sexuality and beauty. To be an "owner of flowers" marked you as a person linked to the feminine realm of culture and being, and marked you as a third gender, neither male nor female but both. To our eyes xochihua people might appear similar to a trans woman, or a gender fluid person, encompassing elements of both genders. In this painting, a xochihua person carries a large basket full of flowers. They wear a skirt, and because of the heat, have removed their huipil, or traditional blouse, and wear it covering their head. They exchange a kiss with their lover, a man. The phrase in the Nahuatl language, "Ye Ocuepon in Xochihua'', means "The Xochihua has Blossomed".
In the Mexica or Aztec culture, women we would today understand as "queer" were identified with the word Patlache, Owner of Patlachtli. Patlachtli is a species of wild cacao, used to prepare aphrodisiac beverages in ancient times. Sources on this topic are scarce and censored, and the concept can be precisely translated, but it seems that Patlache could mean "lesbian" and "trans man." In this painting, two different Patlache collect cacao in the wild. "Patlache Noyole" in Nahuatl language means "Patlache, Owner of My Heart", or "Owner of Wild Cacao, Owner of My Heart".

Filipino national costume is rather colorful, ornate and beautiful. Filipino people lived under the occupation of other countries for centuries. That's why their national attire was formed under the influence of different cultures and got some of their features. US, Spain and Japan had the biggest impact on the traditional clothing of the Philippines. But nevertheless Filipino folk dress is very unique, authentic and even tribal, if we can say so.

Cottagecore Aesthetic Painting -"Pomegranate" fruits and trees were popular symbols in ancient Asian and Mediterranean art. It is customary to have it on New Year's Eve or Thanksgiving tables, with the belief that it will bring abundance to the home. As a symbol in ancient art it is generally used to denote fertility and abundance, a meaning which holds true in traditions throughout the Orient. The connection that the pomegranate bears to fertility and abundance is derived from the fact that it has many sweet and beautiful seeds that are contained within the fruit itself. Aside from being a source of healthy sweet juice, the pomegranate was useful by textile & felt artists for color purposes. The dye makers would produce a red color dye from the pomegranate’s flowers and the tannin within its rind was used for tanning leather hides. Tannin is also a useful compound that is frequently used in natural medicine with a variety of applications. Needle felted merino wool, with nuno-felted silk inclusions, hand-dyed silk tops, sari silk waste, mohair tops, viscose tops, Harris tweed threads, curly locks, spun silk threads, and hand-dyed silk carrier rods. For all of these reasons, the pomegranate design and fruit itself is always highly prized. Predominantly for its aesthetic look, medicinal properties and practical uses (Schneider). When used as a symbol in art from these regions it can thus be interpreted as representing fertility, healthy and plentiful bounty.
