Known for his sculptural textiles, Faig Ahmed fuses contemporary glitches and distortions with traditional weaving techniques. A recent artwork, titled “Doubts,” is one of his larger pieces that while conventionally shaped and patterned on top, appears to ooze out into a massive puddle. A stunning piece, the ornate motif blurs into swirls of color and an amorphous shape on the floor. Christophe Charbonnel was born in Nantes in 1967. He has been working with sculpture for 17 years. In 2002, he decides to make a living from sculpture and quits his cartoonist job at the Walt Disney studios in Montreuil, to move with his family in the Yvelines. he dedicates himself full time to his practice. Quickly, he becomes aware that he belongs to a lineage of sculptors whose technique, learned in 1995 at the Duperré school in Philippe Seené's studio, consists of working with profiles.
