It's impressive how consistent practice over some period of time can improve our skills. This applies to various kinds of things, but today, we'd like to focus on artistic growth. The Reddit community ‘Art Progress Pics’ allows artists to show their work and prove how hard work pays back. The members share the photos of their works and compare how they looked when they were starting, and how they got better after they invested some time and persistently practiced to master their skills.

"Evening By The Pond" Giclee edition print - printed especially for you! The second photo from the top shows the print in the matte. The signature and title will be added per order, so that's not shown in the photo. I have also included a photo of what this might look like framed and hung in a room setting! image size: 11" x 14” matte size / frame size 16” x 20” A stock size frame should be easy to find, and you can just pop this print right in! Each print is signed and titled on the matte, and dated with the year the original painting was done on the reverse. Each print includes foamcore backing, mounted print, matte and is individually bagged in acetate. The mattes I use are all white – white reflects color from surrounding objects, so no matter where you hang this print or want to move it around your home, the matte will pick up reflected color from the room! Plus, it really makes the color in the prints pop. This print will be made specifically for you! Specifics: This print is reproduced from an original painting by me, Jan Schmuckal. It is printed in-house on lovely, Epson Watercolor paper. I experimented with many different papers before I settled on this one: It is archival, water-resistant, fade-resistant, and has a beautiful richness! My prints are made using Epson Pigment Inks, which are tested and guaranteed not to fade for at least 120+ years. COPYRIGHT: I retain all copyrights to my artwork. ALL MATTED PRINTS SHIP VIA USPS PRIORITY MAIL - you are paying actual shipping costs plus materials for shipping. Please be patient with shipping delays caused by circumstances beyond my control with postal processing facilities. EVERY package I ship goes thru the Chicago USPS hub. No refunds due to shipping delays will be issued. I'm working hard to ship weekly to avoid any extra delays beyond my normal processing time. A note: if you live in an apartment building, and you MAY live in a building with good neighbors, or a doorman, or in a splendid neighborhood....but I can't tell that....so I will require a signature on orders shipped to an apartment or suite.

Garlic cloves against a purple pink background. “Garlic Cloves” 5x7 original oil painting ready to hang Fill that bare spot on your wall with affordable fine art. The canvas is gallery wrapped; so it can be hung as is or easily framed. E X P E R I E N C E Color is important. We react emotionally to color, and those reactions are so intermingled with our visceral feelings, color virtually is emotion. Different colors elicit different feelings based on cultural significance and personal experience. Color has spiritual power; it’s beauty can heal and inspire the human spirit. “Mere color, unspoiled by meaning, and unallied with definite form, can speak to the soul in a thousand different ways.” - Oscar Wilde M E T H O D When I was a younger artist, I thought painting fruit and vegetables was boring. Now, I understand this subject matter isn't so much about ideas as it is about C O L O R. I set up this composition right in front of me and painted “Garlic Cloves” from life. An artist experiences more of their subject painting this way, and the results often have a vitality that paintings developed from photographs lack. P R E S E R V A T I O N & C A R E Painting’s will require an occasional dusting. Use a soft, clean micro fiber cloth or a very soft, clean brush set aside for this purpose. Dust the surface with a very careful, light touch to avoid scratching. Protect your painting from extreme temperatures, temperature changes, and moisture which can all cause the paint to crack. Do not hang a painting in direct sunlight or store it in extreme darkness. Avoid hanging your painting near air conditioning vents, doors and windows, fireplaces, and in bathrooms. Paintings need good clean air. Do not allow exposure from pollutants or smoke from any source including cigarettes, fireplaces, or candles. Do not allow the painted surface to be touched by fingers.

With the beginning of Covid, along with many others, I was looking for a job change. I decided to try my hand at going after my dream job of being a full-time artist! This journey has been so rewarding in the short time that I've been working for it. I was even fortunate enough to be interviewed on the radio for the first time!
For my part, I know nothing with any certainty, but the sight of the stars makes me want to dream.― Vincent van Gogh
In 2018 before and throughout the pandemic period, I commenced a series of paintings that pays homage to the guitar and accessories used in rock music. During a time when I personally felt constrained due to health problems and then as part of the community because of the stifling effect of pandemic lockdowns and mask-wearing, I turned to the noise of an electric guitar as a vehicle to be heard. I guess the electric guitar became a beacon of communication to me like the pot and pan-clanging percussion sessions in the cities across Italy during their pandemic lockdowns.
