Art by Shana Blakley Collection || Site || Instagram Tones: Warm White, Ochre About The Print: Inked geometric impression stamped from a hand-carved linoleum block From The Artist: As delightfully unassuming as Ochre I and Ochre II are to me, their existence intriguingly validates two supposed observations: the phenomenon of "beginner's luck" and the philosophy that "art imitates life." They are indeed the lucky results of my first experience with the linocut process, and as simulation has had it, they were created during a time when I was engrossed in building new processes around my art making. He seemed to have boundless energy and ideas. “My heid’s buzzin’,” he’d joke. He never refused to give of his time or … Continue reading "Walking Wounded: The Strange and Disturbing Artwork of Alex Eckman-Lawn"

Illustration tirée de mon projet "Où mes bonds me portent ". For the compulsive list makers like us in the crowd, you know the power of putting words on paper. Jotting that task down takes it out of our active brain space, freeing our gray matter up to focus on the work at hand. What this meant, according to Elizabeth Eisenstein, author of The Printing Press as an Agent of Change, is that things had to be known in a profound and accessible way. This need created a complex system of associating bits of knowledge with other pieces to aid retention and recall. And naturally, the accuracy of the information was only as good as the memory of the people...
