The "Bierpinsel" is a well-known yet enigmatic feature of Berlin's pop architecture of the 1970s. The nearly 50 meter high building in Berlin Steglitz was designed by architects Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte and opened in 1976. Since 2017 it has been listed as a monument. Context: Since 2012, the series "AbseitsBerlin" has been exploring unknown and well-known places in the city and illuminating them from new, unusual angles. At an exhibition at Artloft. Berlin in 2014, the motif "Bierpinsel" was presented to the public for the first time. Object: The print on translucent foil, framed in a metal frame, hanging freely in front of a light box is simply impressive. The characteristic colours of the motif are best supported by a neon tube bench behind a matte plexiglass pane in a light box, which is located about 15 centimetres behind the free-hanging slide frame on the wall. Despite the massive dimensions and the strict lines of the motif, the object as a whole fits comfortably and unobtrusively into the room, providing a pleasant and well-balanced warm basic light. It is therefore suitable for larger office spaces as well as private living rooms. Edition: 3 (available as a unique item - price on request) Artist: Kai Kniepkamp works as an editor for commercials and photographer. He started the series "AbseitsBerlin" in 2012. A selection of early works will be exhibited in October 2012 as part of the exhibition “Berlin - L’Insaisissable” at the German Embassy in Paris. The first solo exhibition at ArtLoft Berlin followed in March 2014.
