Adopting traditional decorative motifs found on Ming Dynasty ceramics, Chinese artist Lei Xue sculpted these humorous smashed aluminum cans that bridge the gap of some 600 years of art history. The pieces are part of an ongoing series titled Drinking Tea, and unlike the mechanical process of producing cans, each object is sculpted and painted by hand. This is the play bill and supper menu from the show called The Midnight Follies at the London Metropole hotel in 1927. The review included the famous American dancers Rosita and Ramone in their first London appearance. Supper was very expensive, and offered only the best champagne and foods. The menu cover shows an elegantly dressed lady being kissed by the moon as she leaves the hotel.
