Graphic designer Osheyi Adebayo’s output is impressive, to say the least. We last checked in with him around this time last year where his portfolio of school text book-inspired designs was already jam-packed. Since then, the London-based designer has been tirelessly producing posters on a daily basis, uploading them to his Instagram account.
Deep Throat Studio is a Prague-based graphic design studio founded by Jozef Ondrik and Zdenek Kvasnica. We’ve long admired the studio’s output across print and web design, creating a broad output for a range of clients from large firms to non-profit organisations since they started out five years ago. Despite the fact that Deep Throat Studio have several brilliant projects to highlight, the studio was actually borne out of a “total fail from start to finish” when the pair were first commissioned to design a visual identity for a fashion house in LA. Although the project deteriorated, Jozef and Zdenek explain how “funnily enough it made us stronger and brought us closer together and that’s how it all began.”
Despite the fact that Suzy Chan is still a student at UAL’s London College of Communication, she has already created an enviable body of work that many experienced graphic designers will be most impressed with. As a designer whose crafted her portfolio around social affairs with a strong impetus on critical thinking, Suzy’s work so far boasts a variety of skill, technical ability and artistry that seems far beyond her years.

After throwing caution to the wind and starting a business during lockdown in Paris, friends and long-time collaborators Anthony Vernerey and Hugo Dumont have built an abundance of beautiful work.
Prague’s graphic design scene, while ever-expanding, is also distinguished. It has a long history with the medium with schools like UMPRUM educating generation after generation of designers since its inception in 1885. But in recent years, the area’s style, which includes experimental letterings, bold uses of colour and elements like 3D rendering is ever prevalent. One designer with a firm stake in this scene is Jiri Mocek.
For Lyon-based graphic design studio Bureau Bertrand Clément the process of designing something has to be fun. This is an ethos the studio applies to a multitude of projects, from art directing record labels to building an identity for a shop or even designing clothes. The studio’s ability to create a cheerful design language is refreshing and an attribute founder Clément Bertrand admits may be because “we always make fun of ourselves and don’t take it too seriously,” he tells It’s Nice That.
As an industry, graphic design is extremely susceptive to trends. At It’s Nice That, we naturally evaluate the comings and goings of in vogue iconographies; recording the waves of progression across the industry as time goes by. Meanwhile, on the other side of the UK in Glasgow, Graphic Design Festival Scotland (GDFS) similarly sees the visual trends of the year through its annual international poster exhibition. The current edition, now showing at The Lighthouse until 6 January 2019, showcases some of the best contemporary poster design from around the world, and can also be seen in the "GDFS International Poster Book 2018.":https://graphicdesignfestivalscotland.com/2018/shop/
Taiwanese designer Wang Zhi-Hong creates elegant book designs, and through his work he hopes to convey the “importance of text in the role of Chinese graphic design”, using it as a decorative element as well as a way to communicate information. Wang hopes to put “Chinese in harmony with other languages, and share the results with non-Chinese regions” and as a result, his work is text and type-heavy often placing different scripts next to each other to create interesting dialogues. The designer is also influenced by the late Swiss graphic designer and teacher Josef Müller-Brockmann for his strict functional criteria for design, that was often offset by dynamic compositions.
“The projects I like to work on have to lead me down a new path, and have an idea behind them that’s rooted in some kind of emotion or narrative,” says Dennis.
Lovework Studio somehow manages to fuse the realms of B2B fintechs with looping visuals of mindfully meditative animation.
