This rare original first edition Audubon hand-colored imperial folio-sized lithograph entitled "Mud Minimus Aud and Bach, Little Harvest Mouse, Males and Females, Natural Size" was engraved and hand-colored by J. T. Bowen after a drawing and painting by John James Audubon and published in 1845 in Philadelphia, as plate 65 in Audubon's monumental publication 'The Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America'. There were approximately 300 sets of the imperial folio sized quadrupeds produced. This large hand-colored imperial folio-sized lithograph is printed on cream-colored wove paper. It is presented in a black antiqued wood frame and a cream-colored mat. It is lazed with UV conservation glass. All of the mounting materials are archival. The frame measures 34.5" high by 29.5" wide by 1.5" deep. There are a few tiny, faint spots, as well as short shallow wrinkles in the upper sheet, but the print is otherwise in very good condition. less

This is just a great original piece. I have been buying more and more audubon and john gould original prints lately as I am finding they are coming back into favor. I have been selling more to younger people lately then I ever did. This is one of four original audubon imperial folio prints I recently acquired. This is an incredible view of the large rat. Imperial folio size with the sheet measuring 21 3/4 x 27 3/4 inches. Strong original color and image. Some consistent toning to the sheet. Very minor spots within the margins and within the image. Print is archival double matted and framed in a complimentary wood frame. Frame measures 27 1/2 x 33 1/2 inches. less
