Reciprocal Teaching sometimes known as reciprocal reading is a fantastic way to extend your independent readers and to have groups self regulate and engage in rich discussion. To begin with, students are explicitly taught about each of the roles. The roles include: predicting, clarifying, questioning and summarising. Once students have learned how to conduct the roles, they take turns assuming the role of teacher in leading a discussion/dialogue about what has been read. I have separated this resource pack in three parts: Teacher guide Printable resources Teacher presentation PDF slide show The Teacher Guide will provide you with information on how to implement the Reciprocal Teaching in both a small group and whole class method. It will provide you with some background information about Reciprocal Teaching and why it is effective. The Printable Resource file contains a range of resources. It includes posters, book marks, role cards, recording worksheets etc. In the teacher guide, if I mention “in Printable Resource” it means the resource will be found in this file. This file contains over 30 pages of ready to print resources. The Teacher Presentation PDF Slide Show has been compiled so that all the information that you need to present to students is organised in one file. You can show this to students on the interactive whiteboard or on a laptop/tablet. The Teacher Guide will indicate what you need to do for each of the Teacher Presentation slides. This resource pack is available in US and Australian spelling. Feel free to ask any questions about this resource pack.
