Growing up in Bardstown, Ky., there was a statistic I heard time and again: 80 percent of the world’s bourbon came from within 15 miles. It was the sort of number — especially in the ’90s — that at best was tough to verify, and at worst a numerical stretch. (Especially tenuous if you count Jack Daniel’s as bourbon.) Accurate or not, it correctly identified bourbon as the region’s economic driver.

The Bardstown Square scene is iconic to locals and tourists alike. With a roundabout encircling the old courthouse (which is now home to our tourism department), the old buildings and shops are immaculately kept and full of history. I created this artwork using chalk pastels (think fancy sidewalk chalk) more than a decade ago when Bardstown was recognized as the Most Beautiful Small Town in America. The original art as been purchased and is housed with a local customer. However, prints purchased of this scene are carefully color matched so that it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between the original and the print (unless you touch it....chalk is mmmeesssssyyyy!). Prints of Downtown Bardstown purchased from my shop are high quality, fade resistant giclee prints (giclee prints are much higher quality than traditional art prints due to type and number of ink colors used). Each is reproduced using heavy weight, coated bond paper and Epson UltraChrome HD inks. When displayed out of direct sunlight, each print should resist fading for up to 200 years. Prints will have a 1/4”-1/2” border around the edges to allow for custom framing without cropping out any of the art. I am meticulous about color quality and check each print to make sure that the colors are identical to the original art. MATTED PRINTS: If you choose to purchase a matted print, the print will be carefully attached on all four corners to a WHITE matboard with removable tape. That way, if you decide not to use the matboard or want to change it later, you can do so without damaging the art. Prints will also have a white board backing that is unattached to add support during shipping. Prints will be sealed in a crystal clear envelope and will be shipped in a rigid mailer. This is a GREAT option if you are purchasing a gift, as the print will arrive matted and carefully sealed, so you can gift it "as is." All other prints purchased will ship rolled up and protected with bubble wrap in a white shipping tube. All prints are created using Archival quality paper and inks. Cheers! Rachel Turner, Artist
