Hello everyone, I hope your week is going well. Over the summer we have enjoyed touring around our beautiful Island and I usually take a few shots of things that catch my eye. I love old red barns. The sun was setting behind this red barn as we drove by so I had to stop and capture it! I don't think you could get more country then this ! Reminds me of Mathew in Anne of Green Gables. The famous Green Gables draws Anne fans from all over the world. A beautiful sunny day in Panmure Island. Evening light on a field of sheep. In the past couple of weeks the farmers started to harvest the grain. A lone sheep having a rest. A field of shorn sheep. Having grown up on a farm I enjoy seeing fields of cows. An antique car in Victoria by the sea. A mare and foal. A farmhouse by the sea. Love that they can watch sailboats go by in the summer. In the wild. Forgotten dreams. What would a drive in the country be without a summer or fall picnic. Well, our little country day tour is coming to a close but first let's enjoy the sun set over the bridge to the Island. I hope you enjoyed an Island Country Day Tour. If you enjoy country days you might enjoy a visit to my Country Days pin board here on pinterest.

I found this beauty a few years ago while traveling the backroads of South Georgia. I love traveling and finding these treasures of days gone by. You will see a common theme in my oil paintings that includes many different styles of old barns, trucks, and cars. I love thinking about the history attached to them and the stories they could tell, if they could talk. ©2020 by Victoria Kucera. All rights reserved. Loyd Heath’s interest in photography began in 1945 when he was a student at Riverside High School in Milwaukee, WI. He was struggling in his chemistry class and since his teacher was the faculty adviser to the “camera club,” he thought it might be a good strategic move to join the club. He did, and it worked out well; he passed chemistry and he gained a lifelong interest in photography. Loyd has taken many courses and workshops in photography since that time, he has participated in many photo shows and his photos have been widely published. His primary career however was in accounting. He was a Professor of Accounting and Associate Dean at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business in Seattle for 36 years. He currently holds the title of Professor Emeritus of Accounting. Since retiring from the University in 1998 Loyd has devoted full time to photography. He is best known for his University of Washington campus photos, his Alaskan totem pole photos, and his photos from Old World Wisconsin in Eagle, WI, and Genesee Country Village in Mumford, NY. Old World Wisconsin and Genesee Country Village are both outdoor living history museums that depict life in the 19th century. He travels to these museums several times each year and since 2002 he has been the judge of the annual Old World Wisconsin photo contest. Loyd has a BA degree from Tufts University, an MBA from Northwestern University, and a PhD from the University of California in Berkeley. Well, I'm driving down this windy road going from the coast to the boring interior of CA. It's just past dawn, and literally, I see this barn emerge from around the corner. Now here's the cool part. It's totally on private property. I park on the other side of the road and open my truck to get my tripod and camera ready. I look at the house, about 100 yards from where the barn is. I don't see lights on or movement. The gate is open to the barn. My camera ready, I get back in my car, put it in reverse, cross the road and reverse up the dirty path to the barn, open trunk, set up camera, and do four 9 exposure shots in a row, and then the horse walks over, which is good, but it won't stop moving. 4 of my shots have him blurred. So I picked up some hay, and held it up and shook it, hit my trigger, snapped off 9 exposures, and it came out clear. Put it all in the trunk and sped off, no more than 2 minutes total. No old man with shotgun. Can't really see the horse staring at me unless you view this photo large

"Can’t Hit the Side of a Bar”, a one of a kind painting. This series is based on old barns as they sit scattered across our vast country in fields. Antiquated barns are the orphans standing sentry on hills, each with unique stories to be told…if only you stop and listen. I love a backroads trip to places unknown. Barns call to me from their hillside perch. Asking me to be ready to stop and take a look. So my endless fascination with taking photos of barns evolved into painting them on paper and canvas. My photographs cover a swath of the country: Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, Kentucky, Iowa, and Minnesota to mention a few. My hope was to immortalize the beauty of their antiquated timbers that have such a limited time left in the field throughout the countryside. My paints and embellishments are of the highest archival quality to ensure the longevity of this work of art for years to come. This painting incorporates a blend of abstract with realism. The wildflower fields are a compilation of underlayers, marks, and embellishments using acrylic paints, acrylic markers, and detail pens. In contrast, is the detailed watercolor and pen barn which is collaged onto the field setting. Each creation that I present to the world is a labor of love with a unique story that evolved with many studio hours and underlayers of paint. Building it, shaping it, and embellishing it with a variety of mediums. It would truly be an honor to have this original creation become a part of your life. Photos are presented to provide a sense of color, details, and scale. Some images may not perfectly represent the painting due to lighting and shadows. The information is for general informational purposes only.

I love barns. I have drawn them and painted them. While driving down the road, barns have always caught my eyes. I loved the shape and color of this one and decided to paint it. My grandfather had a Allis Chalmers tractor. So, I "parked" one in the doorway of this one. This is a print of an original oil painting of a red barn. It is available on either archival paper or stretched canvas. This painting was accepted into the 2019 Annual Southeast Missouri Arts Councils Members exhibit. It also won first place in the 2019 Delta Fair Landscape Oil painting division. The sizes of the prints are 8"x 11", 11" x 14", and 16"x 20". The paper prints will be two inches larger, because they have a border all around the picture (10"x 13", 13" x 16". or 18" x 22") . This will allow you to frame without matting. The stretched canvas is gallery wrapped, so they will have printing on the edges, which means they do not have to be framed. They may be displayed as they are. The original acrylic painting, it is 18" x 24", framed (larger dimensions with the frame), and costs $950. The size and weight of item when shipped listed below is approximate. Missouri residents will have sales tax added (4.225%). If not satisfied with the product, see the return policy. Posters of the paintings are now available only in the size 11"x14" and are shipped in a tube. Shipping is free.

Silo, barn, and windmill all in one shot! What more could you ask for?
I love to drive along country roads and see the old barns. Many are still standing after a century or more. Old wood and paint makes them an artist's delight. In Washington there are many built by farmers settling in the valleys in the late 1800s. Modern farming with just the right touch of nostalgia. I'm pleased to offer this beautiful original Plein Air oil painting titled "Snohomish County Barn". It is painted on a stretched 25.5 x 19.5 inch archival canvas with 5/8 inch stretcher bars and archival paints in impressionist style. The canvas is gallery wrapped. It comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. The painting is sold FRAMED in a FLOATER FRAME which creates the illusion that your artwork is "floating" within the frame and emphasizes that this is an ORIGINAL Oil Painting on Canvas. The beautiful frame is approximately 26 x 20 inches. The framed painting is READY TO HANG.You can also purchase the piece UNFRAMED so you can select your own frame style. Pick your choice by clicking "Floating Frame Choices". The colors on your screen are accurate to the original but remember that they will vary from monitor to monitor and a photo does not capture the colors or intricacy of the actual painting. This painting will enhance your living room, den, office, bedroom, family room or vacation home. Join the many collectors across the country with an Original William Williams Oil Painting! To celebrate the arrival of autumn, we've compiled a virtual tour of some stunning country barns and fall leaves taken across New England.
beinglauren: I grew up on a dirt road. The one thing I love about the South is there is always room to run. Fields and Fields of just grass. Where you can actually see the stars at night. I miss...
Shorty always found the winters colder than most.
This is a different and humorous take on the regular barn arts I do. I though the men might like this one....and the ladies too of course. I have always loved this barn. It's located in Blountville near, what else, the airport. This farmer designed his loft around the tail end of a plane painted in the John Deere design. I just love ingenuous and artistic farmers.
