Few would argue if we said that pets are an endless source of joy and happiness in our lives. Therefore, there is no surprise people are trying to immortalize them in every way possible. This Aussie painter, Vanessa Stockard, found the best way to do that by sneaking her three adorable cats, Kevin The Kittin, his mom Fluff Ferstenberg and the head of the adorable fluff family, Satan, into her paintings. Stockard’s process includes pieces developed without visual reference but rather from memory. These narratives incorporate domestic pets such as cats and dogs, juxtaposing the anthropomorphic nature of these animals are given by society, she infuses the personification of virtue and vice into the everyday canine and feline status quo. Cats with their fluffy comical exteriors yet instinctual urge to kill and a tendency to be cruel to their prey, dogs with their providence of happiness and friendship flung back to Churchill’s metaphor for depression. Despite this not-so -cheerful description of her works, Stockard manages to make her art somehow quirky and very enjoyable!
Thirty years after creating the timeless gardens at Shute House in Dorset, landscape architect Sir Geoffrey Jellicoe was tempted out of retirement to revitalise them for its new owners, in what would transpire to be his final project.
The beautiful and mind-bending illusions in Canadian artist Robert Gonsalves' paintings have a fun way of twisting your perception and causing you to question what in his paintings, if anything, is real. Most have an unclear boundary between the multiple stories they tell, which forces the viewer to jump back and forth between them - like an optical illusion that changes every time you look at it.
The Artist's Way is one of the few books I've read that has given me a new perspective on creativity and how to harness it. Marketed as
Few have seen these happy little landscapes in person, and they're in Penticton all summer.
Optical illusions are always fun and fascinating as they trick our brains into perceiving things differently than they actually are. It may sound cliché, but illusion drawings are our reminder that the things we see are not always as they seem.

My name is Devin Elle Kurtz, and I am often known by the name TamberElla online. I am a concept artist, painter, and illustrator living in Burbank, California. When I was a toddler, my mom went to college for graphic design and purchased an early Wacom Tablet along with Photoshop. Instead of giving me coloring books to keep me busy, she would sit me down with Photoshop and let me draw and paint. Growing up, I learned to paint digitally alongside learning to read, write, and ride a bike. Painting for me is calming and comforting, and I try to give others that sense of peace when they look at my digital art.

Nowadays, it's pretty common tp give lots of attention for animals in art, but in the past it was different. The subjects of the famous paintings were almost always humans. There's nothing wrong with that, but the great painters of the past are long gone, and it makes us wonder what if animals were the subjects of the famous paintings that we've come to appreciate from art history. Even though this may not be the reality, some digital artists rose to Design Crowd's challenge to try their hand at giving their guess of what it probably would have looked like. Let us present to you some of the select pieces from the aforementioned challenge that we think did their job rather well. As with all art, check it out and judge it yourself!

Q: Apart from a bolder color palette, your recent work also appears to differ at times in execution, with drips of paint or distressed underpainting – are you experimenting with new approaches, or are you simply delving deeper into enhanced depictions of your traditional subjects? A: As it follows...
Paintings seemingly have infinite meanings, and the interpretation lies in the eye of the beholder. Some beholders' eyes are different than others, and what they see gives a completely new meaning. One of the people who have this special kind of eyes is Hassan Hassnaoui, who puts captions on various well-known paintings and expresses what he sees in them. It's as if these paintings were talking in modern times, through one of the most popular mediums in which contemporary couples communicate—messages. And it makes the paintings much more relatable, as sometimes it's very hard to connect to them in their original form. So much so, that his work is liked by more than 180k followers on Instagram and other social media.

I realised recently as I was trying to explain to someone how to paint something ( very vague I know) that I rarely just paint ( as you would when painting a wall for example) . I instead , like so many painters make marks and the more different types of marks I can make the more weapons I have in my painting armoury so here are some of the marks I make and I shall try to describe how I make them and what I use them for , but as you can probably guess the possibilities are endless..... 1. This is just 'normal' painting, used to lay down flat washes and a round brush. 2. I use this a lot . I make a puddle of water and drop paint into it the edges of the puddle act as a boundary to the paint. You can drop new colours in too and see what happens, leave it to dry naturally and the magic just happens. 3. I use the brush horizontally letting the bristles fan out to create irregular patterns. It is really good for foliage shapes here I turned my little doodle into a tree. It could be a bush or the edge of a wave. You get the idea.... 4. This is dry brushing, a dry-ish brush with some paint on, used horizontally again on dry paper. Used a lot when painting water , trying to get that sparkle or for fur...or what ever it looks like to you 5. Here I use the edge of my thumb to pull the colour out of the circle. i use this a lot when painting fur or bumble bees, you don't have to just use a brush, try whatever you have to hand 6. Splatters I love a splatter, I think they add movement especially to a foreground or to a living breathing animal. You have to practice though, they are not as easy as thy look. And use in moderation, less is probably more, I do tend to go overboard with them as I love them so much. Hold the bristles of the brush with one finger and then let go pointing the brush in the direction you want the splatter to go. 7. Here I have tried to show me tapping drops of waster into pain as wells drops around the paint. These again create movement, puddles of water, crashing waves or just interest in a background. 8. Finally for today scratching wet-ish paint with a pallet knife, to create grasses, or whatever you want really. This only works first time and thre paint has to be not too wet or too dry, experiment, have fun and create new dynamic marks with your watercolours.
Not many of us have the luxury of going to a top art school and learning how to draw and paint in person. If you are like me and do not have this luxury, then you have the added challenge of being a self-taught artist (as if learning art was not hard enough). There is
All my pieces are hand-painted in acrylic on miniature 4"x4" (10x10cm) canvas board. I recreate the simple beauty and nostalgia of moments in everyday life, particularly sunsets or sometimes dreamlike night skies, as well as trips across my local moorland, recreated from photos I have taken over the years. I like being able to find, capture, and create beauty in landscapes that wouldn't stereotypically be considered picturesque: driving along a motorway, the outskirts of a city, the street of a quiet neighborhood, the roof of a carpark, the headlights of traffic... we can find the beauty in anything if we choose to see it.
