Generally speaking, wind turbines are banished to uninhabited countryside, or even out to sea.A French entrepreneur says that sculpting them in the form of artificial trees could see them more widely adopted in urban centers, making use of weaker winds that circulate around buildings and streets.

How quickly time passes and it is more than a year since we visited La Chevrerie Resort. So before I blog about Nawa Wellness Resort, I will share our anniversary staycation first at La Chevrerie Resort & Spa. This is the fourth resort we have tried in Anilao, Batangas; the first three resorts are Vivere Azure, Lilom Resort, and Solana Resort. La Chevrerie Resort & Spa is a 5-star resort in Anilao, Batangas, offering 13 rooms only to ensure privacy and exclusivity. And as expected the rate is expensive even though we took advantage of their promo. Don't forget that the “Discount is only offered to direct bookings via email or phone with the resort.” The Deluxe Room is PHP12,000 per night for 2 persons and an additional person is PHP4,000. PHP10,800 - discounted rate PHP4,000 - additional person My husband booked our room, a week before our stay, and full payment is required to reserve. We paid PHP14,800 via bank transfer and this rate only includes the following. * Accommodation in an air-conditioned room. * Welcome drinks. * Complimentary Set Breakfast for 3 pax. * Use of resort facilities (pool, bar and restaurant). * Privilege of Happy Hour every day from 5-7PM (50% OFF on all Alcoholic Drinks except Wines) For me, based on the rate, the price is already expensive since it only includes room, welcome drinks, and a set of breakfasts so I was really surprised na may bayad pa ang kanilang life vest. Sa tagal na namin nagtratravel, this is the first time na naencounter namin na may bayad ang life vest. It is PHP150 per day/per vest and we rented 2 life vests. Staycation at La Chevrerie Resort & Spa Moving on, let me start reminiscing about our trip. Check-in time was 2PM so we had lunch before going to the resort but arrived before 1PM. You need to ring the doorbell because the gate is closed. After we parked our car, the staff was already there waiting for us and he helped us with our hand-carry luggage. Compared to the first 3 resorts that we have visited, hindi nakakapagod dito sa La Chevrerie Resort. You will reach the reception and your room in a few minutes, walang feeling na naghiking ka. Hehehe! At the reception, we filled out a form and the staff informed us where the restaurant and spa were and the happy hour, dinner, and breakfast schedule. 5-7PM - Happy Hour 7AM - start of breakfast 8:30PM - restaurant closing time It was not yet 2 PM so we stayed at the pool area while waiting for check-in time. The staff served our welcome drinks at the pool area which is calamansi juice. Deluxe Room Around 2PM, the staff gave us our key and we just went to our room. We booked a deluxe room which is 43sqm so it is spacious. The room has its own veranda and we have a pool view and a 270-degree sea view. The room smells fresh and looks clean. There was a complimentary coffee, tea, chocolate, and water but no teaspoon or stirrer so my husband went to the restaurant to ask for teaspoons. Bathroom Since the rate is expensive I was expecting na pang 5-star din ang mga toiletries but it was not. Although, they have a nice set of cleansing gel and shampoo but no lotion, toothbrush, and toothpaste na usually meron sa mga 5-star hotel or resort. No bidet too. Pool What you see on their website is what you get. This pool is just a few steps from our room. The disadvantage of staying near the pool is the noise. During our stay, ang ingay ng mga kids na nag-night swimming and inorasan ko talaga, 9:20PM na sila tumahimik. If the restaurant has a closing time, I hope maaga din sa pool. Also, 5-star resort but I don’t see any pool towels and I have no idea where to get one since there is no staff near the pool. I did not bother to ask for one, buti na lang malapit lang kami sa room. Since there are only a few guests during our stay, hindi mo mafifeel na crowded. Ewan ko na lang kapag fully booked. Beach Medyo malayo yung katabing resort ng La Chevrerie Resort so even at the beach, may privacy ang guests. Aside from the swimming pool and beach, La Chevrerie Resort & Spa has a gym room, playroom, and dive center. They also offer other activities like snorkeling & BBQ lunch on the beach, kayaking, fishing, mountain trekking, and spa. Food Trip at L’Atelier We only stayed for one night so we only had dinner and breakfast. This is our favorite spot at the restaurant because of the view. Dinner For our dinner, we ordered Tonkatsu PHP480, BBQ Chicken Satay PHP280, Clay Pot Seafood Yee Mee PHP480, Rice and Soda PHP80. We also ordered one round of alcoholic drinks, nakalimutan ko na kung ano inorder namin, basta one beer, and one cocktail by the glass. Uminom for our anniversary celebration. Hehehe! Breakfast The breakfast is already included in our package and there are 3 choices, L’Atelier Breakfast Set, Asian Breakfast Set, and Filipino Breakfast Set so we ordered all the sets. L’Atelier Breakfast Set: Homemade bread with butter, Nutella, honey, and strawberry jam + Mixed Cereals with full milk or skim milk Asian Breakfast Set: Chicken congee and fried egg noodles with pork and green chive Filipino Breakfast Set: Filipino Pork Tapa, Bangus, or Longganisa with Jasmine plain rice. Then each breakfast set includes the following: Assorted seasonal fruits A choice of crepe, egg waffle, Belgian waffle, or eggs (boiled, scrambled,d or sunny side up) with ham A choice of orange juice or apple juice Brewed coffee, tea, hot chocolate, or soya milk Overall, we still enjoyed our short staycation at the resort because it was not crowded. So if you want privacy, you can add this resort to your option. Watch the video here La Chévrerie Resort & Spa 052 Barangay Ligaya, Anilao, Mabini, Batangas, Philippines, 4202
John Maynard Keynes said, “The expected never happens; it is the unexpected always”. This is true because last Valentine’s Day, I already accepted that we wouldn’t have a Valentine’s Day celebration because all the restaurants we wanted to try were fully booked from February 13-16. So I told my husband na maggrocery na lang kami pero kumain muna kami bago maggrocery so we dropped by at Evia Lifestyle Center. We walked from the parking lot while contemplating where to eat. There are so many restaurants and we already tried some of them. We already ate at Teppanya, Italliani’s, and Mama Lou’s. Umabot na kami sa dulo and we decided na itry namin yung Tiger Leaf. In my mind, I would just order from the All Day Breakfast but the staff informed us about their “A Toast To Love” promo and I told him, sige, pag-isipan muna namin. I quickly scanned their menu to check the price range and after a few minutes, we told the staff that we would avail of the promo. While waiting, I observed the restaurant and this reminded me of Cafe Voi La and I discovered na group of restaurants pala sila; Cafe Voi La, Tiger Leaf, San Sebastian, Another Story, Dumbo Smoke, Rustika Asian Urban Kitchen, and The Cheesecake Fairy. So medyo, nawala yung worry ko na baka hindi okay yung steak kasi may Dumbo Smoke pala sila. Also if you compare their menu, may mga similarities. A Toast to Love Menu for PHP3595 + Service Charge Starters Fresh Spring Rolls Cream Corn Cob Soup Asian Salad Main Dish NY Striploin served with lyonnaise potatoes, buttered baby carrots, French Beans and finished with a rich port wine sauce. Dessert Creme Caramel Drink Red Sangria The restaurant was not crowded so we had a good table and the service was fast. They immediately served the Kropek and Red Sangria. When they served the food, we were really surprised because of the huge servings, kasi yung ibang restaurants na may set menu ang konti lang ng serving parang sampler size. But this one, hindi kami tinipid. The waiter informed us that their chef is from Chiang Mai Thailand. Since I’m not fond of vegetables, my husband ate 2 Fresh Spring Rolls and 2 Asian Salad, while I ate the 2 Cream Corn Cob Soup. When they served the main dish, the steak was not thick but I already knew that I could not finish my plate so take-out ko yung half nito so I have space for dessert. But my husband was able to finish his steak. We already asked for the bill when they served the dessert. Feeling namin nafood coma na kami sa dami ng kinain namin or nahihilo na sa Red Sangria. I’m not into alcohol drinks, tumitikim lang kaso sayang bayad sa Red Sangria kaya inubos ko. Hehehe! Overall, we were delighted with our unexpected Valentine’s Date at Tiger Leaf kahit hindi nakami nakapangdate outfit. Nakat-shirt and shorts nga lang si hubby. We enjoyed the ambiance, food and service. Ang bilis ng service nila, as in, walang matagal na waiting time, pagkaubos namin ng meal, naseserve na agad yung next. And because of our hearty meal, nakalimutan na namin maggrocery, umuwi na kami after kumain. Hehehe! Tiger Leaf Daang Hari Road, Almanza Dos, Las Piñas, Philippines
Wow, we’re already on Day 32 of community quarantine. How are you really doing in these crazy times? I hope you are coping and holding up well. I remember my mom asked me, how I am coping? I paused for a while and try reflecting if quarantine has a big effect on my life. Now I can say that I’m pretty okay even there is community quarantine. It is not easy to be okay in these trying times but it is better to embrace the situation and don’t fight it anymore. Stop blaming, start helping and change your mindset and attention. It took me a long time to process everything because at first, I was really disappointed. How I wish there is a fast forward button because I feel that year 2020 is not a good year. Why not a good year? I lost my father, we experienced Taal Volcano Ashfall, my first JUNK (Just Us No Kids) trip with my sister and friend in Taiwan was canceled and my family was supposed to go to Osaka, Japan this summer. I guess no travel trip this year. Huhuhu We’re still waiting for our Taiwan ticket refund and good thing that we got a Japan Multiple Visa so at least hindi nasayang. Hopefully, magamit pa rin after the suspension of Japan Visa. “Even when we can’t control the situation around us, we always can choose where we’re directing our attention” - Liz Stanley, PHD What helped me to cope? I stayed away from news and Facebook newsfeed so it won’t scare me. I even subscribed to Netflix because I thought I would be bored to death and I did not expect that I would be busy. I already canceled my subscription because I have no time to watch naman. Sayang yung bayad ko if I cannot maximize it. Back to VIU na lang ulit ako for my Korean Drama fix. I keep myself busy and enrolled in different online classes. Brit+Co offered free classes last March and I was able to finish 48 classes. Actually, ang dami pa free online classes kaso nagstick na lang ko sa Brit + Co. Information overload but I’m thankful for the new knowledge and skills that I’ve learned. I enrolled in TESDA course but I haven’t started yet, pinapahinga ko muna utak ko. I also accepted some part-time jobs last week, imagine I was working during Holy Week. If walang quarantine, for sure nasa layasan ako at hindi nagwowork. Hehehe! “Look for reasons to be grateful - even when you’re struggling. Taking time to give thanks for even the smallest blessings can help you appreciate the good things in life” - Amit Sood, M.D. There are so many things that I should be thankful for, small or big things. 1. I’m glad that I’m used to being at home. I’m an introvert and I’m a full-time mom so I can stay at home for a very long time. This helps me a lot because there is no big adjustment in my routine. 2. I’m happy that I have no problem even my husband is in charge of wet market and supermarket duties. Hehehe! 3. I’m thankful that my husband can work from home and for 14 years of marriage, ito na ang pinakamatagal namin na magkasama. We’ve been together 24/7 and no business trips. 4. I’m grateful that we can buy enough food supply so my husband doesn’t need to go out every week. We tried our best to stay at home and stretch our food supply for up to two weeks. 5. I’m thankful that I did not allow covid19 to take over my life. I’m praying that COVID19 will end soon and life would be normal again. Even I feel okay, I miss our food trip, I miss going to the grocery, I miss summer vacation trip and lastly, I need to go back to my doctors, ang dami ko nacancel na labtest and check-up.
My son and I renewed our passports before the pandemic happened and this year, his passport is nearing its expiration date na. Ang bilis lang talaga ng panahon, we were supposed to renew his passport last Christmas break pero nagkasakit nga kami so hindi natuloy. So this month, I searched about Passport Renewal for Minors kasi every time naman na nagrerenew kami, lagi may bago. Like this year, nasa Festival Mall na pala yung DFA NCR South, wala ng Saturday appointment and I can pay online na rin, before kasi nagBayad Center pa kami. I want to renew his passport as soon as possible because I know na mahirap makakuha ng appointment and ayaw ko naman maabutan pa ng expiration, what if need namin umalis. So I’ve been checking my son’s class schedule and DFA schedule so I can book an appointment. I checked the different DFA sites and I narrowed down my choices to these sites. DFA NCR South - Festival Mall, Muntinlupa City Dasmariňas - SM City Dasmariňas San Pedro Laguna - Temporary Off-Site Passport Service But after checking their calendars, San Pedro Laguna site ang marami available na dates. Yung DFA NCR South, February na ang earliest pero sa San Pedro Laguna, I can book for the second week of January. My son has two days offline classes kaso si hubby naman ang hindi pwede mag Vacation Leave. Good thing half day lang sila kapag exam so tinapat ko doon yung appointment niya. How to Schedule and Pay for Your DFA Passport Appointment Online 1. Go to DFA site https://www.passport.gov.ph/appointment 2. Check the box “I have read and understood the instructions and information on this page…” 3. Choose an Individual Appointment or Group Appointment 4. Choose your Preferred Site 5. I chose a debit/credit card and the amount I paid is PHP1,250. The passport processing fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Passport Fee is PHP950 PRF Fee is PHP250 Convenience Fee PHP50 11. Check email and print the attached application forms and email confirmations. (A4-size paper) Requirements Needed for Passport Renewal of Minor 1. Confirmed Online Appointment 2. Valid pa yung passport so we can still use it habang wala pa yung new passport. We can claim his passport after 2 weeks.
Eating in the hotel is expensive whether a la carte or buffet meals so we seldom eat at the hotel’s restaurant unless we have something to celebrate. Remembering my son’s childhood days, we used to have hotel staycations so we were able to experience the hotel’s breakfast buffet pero lagi na lang breakfast so several years ago, we started to eat lunch or dinner for the experience. Aside from travel we also invest in our food trips. Eating in an international buffet is a different experience so even if it is a splurge, you will enjoy trying and eating different cuisines. “My hobbies include eating and complaining that I’ve gained too much weight.” I was browsing my old blog posts and I realized every birthday ko and anniversary pala kami nagbubuffet sa hotel. My husband doesn’t crave for hotel buffet because he normally eats at the hotel if they have company events or business trips. Anyway, here are the hotel’s restaurants that we have tried for lunch and dinner buffets. Tides of Shangri-la Mactan Acaci of Acacia Hotel Cafe Eight of Crimson Alabang Hotel The Pantry of Dusit Thani Manila Hotel Yurakuen of Diamond Hotel Cafe Ilang-Ilang of The Manila Hotel Marriott Cafe of Marriott Hotel Table 88 of Sheraton Grand Da Nang And I still have a long list of restaurants that I love to try, budget na lang ang kulang. I mentioned in my Anniversary Celebration post that we celebrated our anniversary at Fresh -Solaire. My husband just called the hotel, the day before our food trip and we received our confirmation via email. Downpayment is not needed to reserve but make sure you arrive on time. “Please be advised that our 15-minute reservation/hold time is strictly implemented. If you arrive beyond the allowed period, your reservation is automatically void. ” Fresh Buffet Rates Daily Breakfast PHP 1,300+ 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM Monday to Friday Lunch PHP 1,999+ 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM Dinner PHP 2,999+ Unlimited Lobsters 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM Saturday, Sundays and Holidays Lunch Php 2,999+ Unlimited Lobsters 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM Dinner Php 2,999+ Unlimited Lobsters 5:30 PM to 10:30 PM * Free-flowing drinks all day! * All prices are inclusive of VAT and subject to a 10% service charge. The unlimited lobster is quite tempting but because of our Table 88 buffet experience, we know that we can’t eat a lot of lobsters so hindi rin namin masusulit yung rate so we chose the lunch buffet. Solaire Resort has been around for a decade but it was my first visit to the hotel so medyo nahirapan kami hanapin yung restaurant. Upon arrival, the staff asked us if it was our first time and we said yes, then she made an effort to make an introduction to the different buffet stations before she ushered us to our table. Wow, of all the hotels that we have tried siya pa lang yung nagtour sa amin, usually ihahatid ka lang nila sa table and sasabihan na pwede na magstart. Fresh buffet spread is not that big but they have several stations such as Japanese, Italian, Western Grill, Filipino BBQ, Seafood, Korean, Chinese, Dessert, Cheese and Cold Cuts, Salad, Fruits, and Bread stations. There are so many stations but the food choices are limited if I will compare it to other buffet restaurants that we have tried. I was a little bit disappointed because I was craving seafood pero ang lungkot ng seafood station nila. Fresh ang name and meron din sila unlimited lobsters for dinner so I was expecting na marami sila seafood but I was wrong, during our visit wala man lang shrimp. Huhuhu! I can’t help myself but compare it to our Marriott Cafe experience. According to their menu, Fresh Signature Dishes are Lobster Thermidor, Beef Bulalo, Sisig, Four Cheese Pizza with Truffle Oil. Create Your Own Salad, Roast Beef, Kani Salad, California Maki and Solaire Chocolate Cake. Among the choices, beef bulalo and roast beef lang ang natry ko, they are also generous sa beef slices nila, sa iba kasing hotel sobrang nipis magslice ng roast beef. Some of the buffet stations are managed so sila pa maglalagay ng food and need mo pa sabihin kung gaano karami. Most of the stations are covered with glass shields too so ang hirap magtake ng pictures and dahil diyan, konti lang maayos ko na picture. Also, when my husband made a reservation, the staff asked if there is any occasion and he said anniversary. It was also noted on our confirmation na anniversary namin so I thought, may pa-cake siguro sila so I brought my mini cake topper pero wala pala. Pinaasa lang ako. But if it is your birthday, they give cake and they even sing “Happy Birthday” so kapag anniversary, doon ka sa dessert station kumuha ng cake. Hehehe! Eating in a buffet restaurant is a hit and miss too, depende na lang kung natapat ka sa masarap na buffet offerings. So despite my disappointment, inenjoy ko na lang kung ano meron, sayang ang bayad noh. Masarap naman food, ang taas lang kasi ng expectations ko based on the blogs that I’ve read and vlogs that I’ve watched. In addition, ito yung nabasa ko sa website nila. “Continue enjoying our savory rotisserie carvings and lavish seafood selections prepared and cooked a la minute by our team of talented chefs.” Watch the video here Fresh- Solaire Resort & Casino Manila 1 Asean Avenue Entertainment City Tambo, Paranaque City 1701 Metro Manila, Philippines
Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve been seeing a lot of cooking and baking videos on social media. With the help of those videos, some of my friends learned how to bake and some even started their own pastry business. Well, sa case ko naman, nagbalik-loob din ako sa pagbebake lalo na nung wala kami mabiling tinapay. But of course, my passion for baking did not last, I ended up using instant mixes for cookies, cupcakes, and bread. I want to bake but what I don’t like is ang daming preparation, tamad ako magmeasure at maghugas ng marami. Hehehe! So instead of buying a lot of baking ingredients, I will just buy ready mixes or baked goodies. Anyway, one of the videos that I’ve been seeing is from Chef RV Manabat so out of curiosity, napaclick ako. I just watched one video and after that sold na ko and I started following his Facebook page. Since then I want to try his cakes kaso we have no reason naman to buy cakes at tapos na mga birthdays namin. Fast forward to December, my husband and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary. For your information, twice kasi kami kinasal ni hubby pero hindi naman namin cinecelebrate na yung pangalawa. But it became an excuse to buy cake and pasta so even though we don’t really celebrate our second wedding anniversary, napacelebrate kami. I checked their page and browsed their menu. According to their page, call daw for orders or inquiries so my husband called but ended up visiting the cafe para doon mag-order and bayad. It was so easy to locate kasi may Waze naman. Since we are still under community quarantine, they don’t accept dine-in customers, only take out orders. My husband waited for his turn, so may social distancing sa Cafe, one customer at a time. I already gave my list to my husband so he bought Sausage and Mushroom P260, Homestyle Meatsauce P250 and Classic Sampler P1360. All pasta orders have homemade Focaccia bread. Between the two pastas, mas prefer ko yung Sausage and Mushroom and because of this, nagluto ko niyan nung Christmas Eve. Unfortunately, hindi ko nakuha yung lasa nung pasta. Read: Holiday 2020 Since first-time namin matitikman cake nila, yung sampler na pinili ko and according to their page, ito yung flavors. Oreo Cheesecake, Wild Blueberry Cheesecake, Carrot Walnut Cheesecake, Chocolate Dulce De Leche Cake, Chocolate Blackout Cheesecake, Belgian Chocolate Cake, Pistachio Sansrival, Belgian Brownie Cheesecake, Real Ube Cheesecake, and Biñan Best Queso de Bola Cake But when I opened the box, hindi siya same sa nakalist, meron wala. So hindi ko natikman yung Pistachio Sansrival, nareplace siya ng Red velvet Cheesecake. Maybe it depends din kung available yung cake. Anyway, we enjoyed all the flavors of the cakes except for the Chocolate Blackout Cheesecake. Our personal favorite is Belgian Brownie Cheesecake. It took us 4 days to finish the cake, naumay na kami kahit sweet tooth kami. Pero present pa rin ito nung Pasko sa get-together namin, potluck ng brother-in-law ko. I’ve made some research, Chef RV Manabat Cafe started in the year 2017, OMG, ngayon ko lang nadiscover kung kailan pandemic. His cafe pala was inspired by Calea, kaya pala ang dami niya cheesecake na choices. If you’ve been following my blog since 2011, you know for sure that I love Calea kaso nga lang nasa Bacolod sila. So I’m glad that I discovered Chef RV Manabat Cafe. Though their price is not cheap pero worth it naman sa lasa. Alam mo na hindi tinipid sa ingredients. Read: Pasalubong from Bacolod Calea Blueberry Cheesecake Food Trip in Bacolod Update March 2021: 15th Wedding Anniversary Celebration We always celebrate our wedding anniversary with my son so as early as January, we were searching for a restaurant or resort that will allow kids. Unfortunately, all the restaurants that we have called are not accepting kids so my husband and I celebrated Valentine’s Day in advance without my son at Alba Restaurante Espaňol. But hubby was able to book a resort in Calatagan, Batangas that accepts kids but our plan did not push through, And because of that we just went to Chef RV Manabat Cafe to take out some meals and cakes to celebrate our wedding anniversary at home. You can read here the reason why our trip was canceled. We have already tried 10 cakes of Chef RV so I did not buy a whole cake anymore. I remember that we had a hard time finishing the cake sampler before. So I just order our favorites and I added Pistachio Sansrival. Wala kasi ito sa choices ng cake sampler. This sanrival was added to our favorite. Pistachio Sansrival P150 per slice Brownie Cheesecake P140 per slice Blueberry Cheesecake P140 per slice Carrot Cheesecake P150 per slice Belgian Chocolate Cake P140 per slice Chocolate Dulce de Leche P140 per slice We bought a pack of Ube Cheese Pandesal for PHP180 (9 Pieces), we immediately ate this bread on our way home. The bread is soft but we cannot taste the ube maybe color lang na ube. Hehehe! But we like this Cheese Pandesal, actually nakakabusog na nga yung isang piraso. Next time, I will buy more packs para hindi bitin. Since I did not cook, I also order hot meals so medyo matagal ang waiting time namin. I ordered Aligue Cream PHP250, Beef Tenderloin Steak Strips P310 and Pork BBQ with Peanut Sauce PHP280. The serving is good for 1 person pero in our case, nahirapan kami ubusin. It was our first time eating Aligue Cream Pasta, medyo maasim siya because of the lemon, kahit konti lang ng lemon. It was not a hit for us but I like my Beef Tenderloin Strips and my son enjoyed his Pork BBQ with Java Rice, pinatira pa talaga niya at breakfast daw niya yung leftover niya. Chef RV Manabat Baking Books Chef RV has recipe books too so I also bought his books online "Baking Secrets" and More Baking Secrets, I chose the bundle books so I can save money. I hope ganahan na ulit ako magbake or cook from scratch. Reminders • Take-out only.
