You will receive one large wood slice ornament freaturing the regal honey bee encircled by flowers and vines. This queen bee decor piece has a natural finish enhanced by a dusting of clear crushed glass glitter. It hangs from a jute twine with a natural wooden bead accent. These are substantial ornaments from a collection of quality pieces of wood, from which I've selected the very best. The wood has been sliced from tree limbs into pieces of about .25" thickness and about 4" in diameter - then kiln dried. I have decoupaged the image and sealed it for longevity. My wood slice ornaments have an organic charm that is fitting year round for a Farmhouse or Boho look, as well as Cottage and Rustic, Traditional and Modern... the options are endless. This is for a set of FIVE handmade, resin-filled Honeycomb Bee Coasters with Matching Coaster Holder. Each wood coaster is laser cut and engraved then filled with epoxy/resin that resembles real honey! IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a LIMITED quantity and made-to-order item. After the resin has fully cured, I hand polish and seal each and every coaster to ensure they are of great quality for you. Please remember that this is a handmade/handcrafted item and no two coasters will look exactly the same. Each coaster is 3.625” x 3.5” and 1/8” thick. This past summer while sitting in the backyard, I started remembering how when I was young, the clover flowers were always covered with bees. I can't tell you how many times I was stung on the feet or toes because I loved to go barefoot. As I sat there I started looking for bees. I only counted five as far as I could see surrounding me. I knew there was a problem because I have see the numbers decrease over the past few years, but it really disturbed and saddened me that I may be watching the extinction of a species. This is my tribute to the bee, and being a design blog, it will of course focus on how to decorate your interiors with them. Enjoy, and I hope you get some ideas!! L'abeille - The bee. This black lacquered sign was once posted on the door of a French store. Long a symbol of French royalty, the bee was the model for the fleur de lys. Napoleon chose the bee as his personal symbol.There are several theories of how this came about. One interesting theory is when he overthrew the French government and took up residence in the Royal Palace at Tuileries, he refused to spend money on new decor. However, he could not allow the curtains - with their embroidered fleur-de-lis, (the French Royal emblem), to continue to hang in the windows of the palace. His solution was to have the rich and elegant velvet drapes turned upside down. The inverted symbol of the overthrown monarchy looked like a bee. Interesting honeycomb patterned door.
