Who finds bees fascinating? 🙋🏻♀️ Here’s a sneak peak of the day we brought them home and put them in their new hive. The full video is over on IGTV. It’s titled “Bringing Bees Home.” Cool bee fact: honeybees have almost three million hairs on their tiny bodies. Each hair is strategically placed to carry pollen and also to brush it off.
It’s been a while since I posted a slow motion bee video. 😊 If you watch closely you’ll see a bee that flies in all imbalanced bc she is loaded down with pollen. 🐝 Here are some questions you guys asked in my stories a while back: 1️⃣ Why do you use smoke when doing inspections? Does it hurt them? Smoke masks alarm pheromones which are released by guard bees. The smoke creates an opportunity for the beekeeper to open the beehive and work without the bees being as defensive. 2️⃣ How much does it start to get bees? It depends on how you go about it. We invested in the @flowhive and are really happy with it! We also bought our bees from a local bee farm.
