The Hoy & Helmet 15th C though some parts date back to 11th C. Grade 2 Listed. Built on the site of the battle. Inglenook fireplace. Originally called The Hoy Inn. 'Hoy' being a type of a broad boat or barge. 'Helmet' was the foreshore it was drawn up to. The Hoy was used as coroners court room in the 19th C. Dick Turpin was a regular. Rumour has it that The Hoy was used for smuggling and the tunnels used under the car park are still there today and link to St Mary's Church and haunted.
