The only thing that makes a retirement/birthday party filled with cured meat, cheese, and an open bar better is surprising the guest of honor with a cake. A cake which was carried across town on my lap, in an Uber, over bumps, in the middle of winter in Minnesota and delivered intact on a simple mar
“Tacy got to be ten first because her birthday came in January. They didn’t have many birthday parties at Tacy’s house. There were too many children in the family. Mrs. Kelly would have been giving…
Betsy and Tacy are best friends. Then Tib moves into the neighborhood and the three of them start to play together. The grown-ups think they will quarrel, but they don't. Sometimes they quarrel with Betsy's and Tacy's bossy big sisters, but they never quarrel among themselves. They are not as good as they might be. They cook up awful messes in the kitchen, throw mud on each other and pretend to be beggars, and cut off each other's hair. But Betsy, Tacy, and Tib always manage to have a good time. Recommended for ages 8 and up.

It's time for another Paper Smooches Saturday. Today I have a card using the new Birthday Words dies... I combined the diecut "happy birthday" from the dies set with the Digits stamps and dies. These little diecut words are adorable...
Turning 40 is a milestone that definitely deserves its moment in the spotlight. But it’s one of those life events that’s very personal, and exactly how we want to mark the occasion is a very individual choice, too. The party animals among us might want to go big with an all-out 40th birthday shindig, while others will prefer a more low-key gathering, or will even forgo a formal celebration altogether in favour of a simple day out or unique memento. That’s why we’ve pulled together this selection of ideas (40, in fact!) for celebrating, marking or simply acknowledging a 40th birthday.
Lots of love from Susan

Really, I haven't neglected it on purpose but have been very busy with more deadlines that I had to get out of the way. Anyway, all's done so I feel I can relax a bit before I get the next round of collections. Today I have been busy getting all the orders done for my friends, so am at last caught up. Well, ladies what an exciting week it has been with the announcement of the new Design Team at Artfull Crafts. We can expect amazing things from our new members as they are all so talented. ( and I haven't been made redundant yet!) To top of the excitement re. the Design Team , the Dinner is on Friday night and it will be announced who has won the Top Shop - our fingers and toes are crossed! Now must share some cards I have made for orders. Our friend Marie absolutely loves green and purple, hence this card. I have used a Stampin' up stamp which I have coloured with my copics. Kaisercraft Lilac Avenue collection ( you can perhaps guess that I love Kaisercraft !) Authentique papers was used for this anniversary card but I can't remember which collection. I used Martha Stewart optic border punch. Now, this is a different card and I have used Kaisercraft's Attitude collection. It is very masculine, I have made a pocket card and have covered the front of the card with acetate which is part of the collection. Well, all from me tonight, just about my bedtime. Thank you all for checking out my blog - it is so nice knowing that it appreciated and it makes blogging all worth while. Happy crafting and God bless, Betsy xxx

Well ladies, what a day it is here in Geraldine, New Zealand! RAIN, RAIN, RAIN - it really is time it stopped now. Christina, at Cardmaking Paradise in the UK, was saying they are enjoying some sun, at last.We have just about forgotten what the sun looks like - anyway better stop complaining and count all the positives, that abound round us. A nice warm workroom being one and being able to spend some quality time with my husband. He can't mow lawns today!! Today I thought I would show you the cards that I made for the Kaisercraft's April Workshop Magazine, using the lovely Kaleidoscope collection. It really is a bright happy range, with lots of colour. In some ways it reminds me of their Secret Admirer collection, which was ever so popular. This card is called a diorama card and there are plenty of tutorials on the web, if you would like to make it. I have made it a 5 1/4" square card as I am rather fond of this size lately. Quite a fun one to make, ladies. For this card I used my 1 1/4" and my 1 1/2" circle punches, punching out various sizes and paper then attaching them to a piece of acetate, putting a frame round then mounting it all onto a basic card. I was thrilled with the effect- agree ladies! Again, another 5 1/4" square card. You will notice I have used a Spellbinders Label Die but have placed it the other way. Tim Holtz rosette die was also used. As I love chevron patterns, as well as stripes and spots, I just had to use this gorgeous paper! Loved putting it with the circles etc. Simple but effective, I think. Must go and climb back into MY CAVE, as my neighbour calls it, and hibernate 'til the rain stops! Do hope you are all keeping warm and dry where ever you are and doing. Thanks for taking the time to check my ramblings and hope my cards give you some inspiration. Blessings and happy crafting, Betsy xxx
Betsy-Tacy by Maud Hart Lovelace Illustrated by Lois Lenski Classic Children's Literature Paperback Reprint Betsy Tacy Book Paperback. There was a tear on the top where I removed a price sticker (why do thrift stores put a sticker on the front cover!!?) I have covered it with some clear tape. Inside pages are in great shape.
