The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe "And the Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door; And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming, And the lamp-light o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor; And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor Shall be lifted- nevermore!" * Infinity/loop scarf * Black * Cotton-poly-rayon blend jersey * Finished edges (fabric folded in half lengthwise and sewn down and in the middle to create a long tube). * Measures: 60" (150-153 cm) inches around and 14"-15" (36-38 cm) inches wide * Hand wash (cold water), dry flat * Warm iron if needed. Charles by Shirley Jackson Making Inferences Chart and Writing Response. Digital and Print: Includes an Easel Activity ready for learning with digital tools. Assign it in Google Classroom or use a link in any LMS. Select the pages to use and add your own notes. Helpful for remote teaching. Has a chart for students to use to record page numbers and clues to the inference that Laurie and Charles are the same person. After students complete the chart and have had practice going back to the text to find details, they answer three questions about the story which require them to find evidence from the text to support their conclusions. Then they use the clues in the chart to write an essay about how the author implies Laurie and Charles are the same person. Also has an extension writing activity - students write their own paragraph and provide clues for a reader to make inferences about a character. 6 total pages, including 3 digital Easel pages. I hope that you had a good weekend. The Mister and I did some errands and then had lunch at the Cheesecake Factory on Saturday. Boy has that place ever gone downhill. It used to be one of my favorites because it has a delicious Skinny menu. My salad was 95% lettuce. And the place is dirty. Now that I got that off my chest, on Sunday, we had lunch with our #2. We went to one of my favorite restaurants, Honor Bar. I had the usual Macho Salad, which was music to my tastebuds. My #2 had the Ahi Tuna salad. The Mister opted for the roasted chicken and fries. We then zipped over to #2's pad to pick up Chowdah because our girl has been commuting to DC. Not too much new except I am still glued to the Murdaugh trial. If you're interested in the latest scoop, you can find it here. Today, I'm giving you a roundup of what I have been reading and listening to lately. Amazon I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. A happily-married woman's husband flies charters for wealthy clients. He is called last minute to fly a big celebrity to the destination, and on his way back, the plane disappears over the Bermuda Triangle. Amazon Gone Tonight, is written by a favorite author of mine. I thoroughly enjoyed this delicious slow-burn of a novel. It is a story about a mother on the run with her daughter. One problem - the adult daughter never knew that they were on the run. While the mother is showing signs of Alzheimer's, her daughter is digging into her dark past. It is fast-paced and suspenseful. This one comes out in August. Amazon Oh, Jojo Moyes, you did not let me down with this delightful page-turner centering around a pair of Christian Louboutin stilettos. A light, fun read. Amazon The dream team behind the pen name of Liv Constantine did it again. This political thriller revolves around Sloane, a widow of a US Senator. A year after her husband was murdered, she marries another US Senator who was her hubby's best friend! Her ex's mother-in-law does not trust Sloane's new hubby one bit. Aside from her love life, Sloane is battling a chronic disease that is progressively getting worse. New hubby hires a very attractive caretaker, and sparks fly. I spent most of my time trying to figure out whether the new hubs was a good guy or a bad guy. In any case, I loved this book. The twists were well-placed, and the characters are richly drawn. The authors never let me down. Amazon The Doctor's Wife begins with a bang. Almost instantly, the Doctor lays his cards on the table, and his hand is a whopper. I knew from that point on that I would love this twisty domestic thriller. In another couple of chapters, the wife shows her hand, and hers is a doozy. This thriller had me glued with every twist and turn. I was a big fan of Daniel Hurst and an even bigger one now. Amazon One twist after another in this whiplash of a thriller. Throughout the book, I found myself continuously changing my mind as to figuring out who the villain was. Plenty of clues were dealt, and yet it still took me by surprise. I highly recommend this one to someone who wants the time to fly while traveling. Amazon Sam and Alexis move into their dream house on the outskirts of Washington DC. Within several days, their neighbor is discovered floating in the Potomac. Alexis becomes fast friends with the widow. She slowly finds out that a lot of their neighbors are not the people that they appear to be. This was a well-written debut novel. This is coming out this Summer. Amazon I'm a big fan of Samantha Downing. This book can be summed up in two words: toxic love. I did not care for either one of the main characters, Wes and Ivy. The writing and suspense kept me turning the pages, but I found the story exhausting. This was definitely not one of Downing's best books. This comes out this Summer. Amazon A child is kidnapped from a playground while the mother was distracted. The child is eventually recovered, and that sets the wheels in motion for a story full of suspense at a fast pace. I took a star off because I wasn't crazy about the ending. Amazon Hotel Laguna is a wonderful story that has it all. A beautiful setting and some lovable, quirky characters. This one comes out in June. Amazon A perfect beach read! I appreciate an original storyline. This is about a young woman who is a portrait artist. She passes out and needs brain surgery. When she wakes up, she discovers that she has facial blindness. Yup, just like Brad Pitt. Before the surgery, she was chosen to compete in a prestigious art competition. She then has to figure out how to create the portrait without seeing the face. It's a light read written with humor and heart. This comes out in July. Amazon Joe Goldberg goes to Harvard! My favorite murderer is invited to join an elite writing fellowship. Joe is again hoping for a new beginning. He then meets a lovely girl named Wonder. Before we know it, Joe's stalking tendencies have come back with a vengeance. This one comes out in April. Amazon A dark and twisty tale centering around two friends and two murders. It is well-written; however, the protagonist was a bit-wishy-washy for my taste. All in all, it is a solid suspenseful thriller. Amazon I highly recommend the audio version read by the author if you are interested in this tell-all. I came away having more sympathy for Harry. A lot of the comments quoted in the press were taken out of context. I think there are three people driving the royal bus: Camilla, Kate, and Meghan. Amazon I am reading this right now and enjoying it. It made me realize how much I enjoy family sagas. This centers around three generations of strong, likable women. All three of these books are coming out in March. Amazon One of my favorite authors. A private eye starts to follow a possibly adulterous husband, but little does he know that the twisted trail will lead back to the woman who hired him. Amazon Only Murders in the Building meets The Maid in this darkly beguiling locked-room mystery where someone turns up dead on the set of TV’s hottest baking competition. Amazon The author wrote one of my favorite books, Defending Jacob. A mother vanished. A father presumed guilty. There is no proof. Linking up with: Inspire Me Tuesday The Happy Now Blog Lou Lou Girls

Its monoline strokes evoke classic 20th-century penmanship achieved with a ballpoint or rounded nib. Whereas many digital script typefaces impose simple "on or off" rules about character connections, Beloved Script embodies a more casual and natural state of handwriting — the semi-connected script. These disconnections are apparent in the lower case t, and between rounded characters such as o and v, enabled by more than 40 ligatures. Out of the box, Beloved Script is lively but casual. But with over 1000 swashes and alternates to choose from, including capitals, beginning, and ending forms, it can become a beautifully decorative spectacle, powerful for custom headlines and wordmarks. Includes regular and bold weights. Explore what Beloved Script can do for you. **Beloved Sans** *A simple sans that likes to get swashy!* This monoline sans-serif subtly evokes early 20th-century hand lettering made with a ballpoint pen or rounded nib. It's an all-capitals face with corresponding small capitals scaled to about 85% of the original letters — just enough differentiation to be distinctive in the display settings for which it's designed. Beloved Sans includes over 800 swash and alternate forms, making it incredibly useful and versatile for wordmarks and distinctive headlines. The titling variant adds an extra stroke to the verticals for a hint of Art Deco style, while the swashed capitals add calligraphic flair to an otherwise understated sans. Includes regular and bold weights, and lining and old style numerals. Mix and match characters for package designs, menus, and invitations.
Lente is a cardigan for those in between days. Not that hot, but not cold and wintry either. A somewhat rustic silk-cotton mix yarn is used to knit this pattern. The cardigan is knitted flat, in pieces (back, two fronts and sleeves) and then seamed together. The button and neck bands are picked up and knitted on at the end. Lace panels decorate the fonts. The rest is knitted in stockinette, decreases and increases are used for the waist-shaping which is placed not at the edge but more at the princess lines. "Dream Weavers" and "Soul of the Land" are two sides of a double-sided lithograph by Alphonse Mucha. These illustrations were created for "Ilsee, Princess of Tripoli" and are the rare proofs before the text. These artworks were for pages 31 and 32. 8" x 6 1/4" art 19 1/4" x 17 1/8" frame Alphonse Mucha was born in 1860 in the small town of Ivancice, Monrovia. Though it is rumored that Mucha was drawing before he was walking, his early years were spent as a choirboy and amateur musician. It wasn’t until after he finished high school that he came to realize that living people were responsible for the art that he admired in the local churches. That epiphany made him determined to become a painter. He was soon sent off to Paris, where he studied at the Academie Julian. On January 1, 1985, he presented his own new style to the citizens of Paris. Spurning the bright colors and the more square-like shape of the more popular poster artists, the design was a sensation. Art Nouveau can trace its beginnings to about this time, which was the attempt to eradicate the dividing line between art and audience. Mucha’s way was based on a strong composition, sensuous curves derived from nature, refined decorative elements, and natural colors. Art Nouveau percepts were used also, but never at the expense of his own vision. Mucha was always a patriot of his Czech homeland and considered his success a triumph for the Czech people as much as for himself. He began to plan out "The Slav Epic," a series of great paintings chronicling major events in the Slav nation. Mucha’s bequest to his country was received with could shoulders. The geopolitical world ten years after WW1 was very different from the one in which Mucha had begun his project. The rest of Mucha’s life was spent almost as an anachronism. His work was still beautiful and popular, just no longer "new" - a heinous crime in the eyes of the critics. When the Germans invaded Czechoslovakia, he was still influential enough to be one of the first people arrested. He returned home after a Gestapo questioning session and died shortly thereafter on July 14, 1939.

Since their first appearance as Italians on the pages of the 1821 William Caslon type specimens, reverse contrast typefaces have been typography's best loved quirky outcasts. Subverting the traditional relationship between thick verticals and thin horizontals made them perfect for eye-catching advertisements. The unexpected contrasts and the thick slabs produced by reverse-contrast serifs became ubiquitous in period posters, and synonymous with wild west and circus iconography. In designing Stinger, the Zetafonts design team composed by Maria Chiara Fantini, Andrea Tartarelli and Francesco Canovaro and orchestrated by Cosimo Lorenzo Pancini decided to marry this subversive tradition with the workhorse approach of modernist sans serif typefaces like Univers, developing a super-family with four widths, each in five different weights, from thin to heavy. This gives the designer a full range of options for type setting, with the Normal and Fit widths providing two different text-sized alternatives, the wide width adding display and titling options and the Slim ready to deal with the space-saving necessities of extremely long texts. True italics have been added developed for all weights and variants, bringing the Stinger family to a total of 40 fonts, with a latin extended + Russian Cyrillic character set covering over 200 languages, and open type features including positional numbers, stylistic sets and alternate forms. In the crowded panorama of contemporary grotesque typefaces, all aiming to stark geometric perfection, Stinger stands out with its bold choices and strong personality. From the calligraphy-inspired terminals in the thin weights to the logo-ready sculptural approach in the heavy weights, each variant manages to look striking without forgetting the readability and flexibility lessons of modern reverse-contrast classics like those designed by Excoffon or Novarese. A variable version is included with the full family, allowing maximum flexibility and control for the designer over the wide range of expression capabilities of the Stinger super family.
