Paul teaches Lydia about Jesus. We learned about the purple fabric that Lydia made and why it was so important and expensive. Click here to download these updated posters. Review: We learned last week that Barnabas decided to take Mark and go a different direction to preach about Jesus. Paul took Silas and Timothy to travel to other churches and preach about Jesus. Remember, Timothy was younger, about 15 or 16 and his mother and Grandma taught him the Old Testament. Paul taught him about Jesus. Paul had a vision one night. The man in the vision begged Paul to come to help them in Macedonia, so they left for Macedonia the next day. Click here to download Luke Poster. Then, Luke started traveling with Paul also. Read Acts 16:8 & 10. So, we also learned last week that when Luke is traveling with Paul, the Bible says we and us, but when Luke is not with Paul, Luke says them. Remember, we are studying from Acts and Luke wrote it. There are several photos of today's view of Neapolis and Philippi. These photos, and more are @ http://www.padfield.com/photoindex.html and are used with permission by David Padfield. Philippi felt banner change for the tent and prison for next week Lesson: Scripture is Acts 16:12-15. Now, Paul has Silas, Timothy & Luke traveling with him. They traveled 10 miles to Philippi. The Roman roads were paved here, and there are still parts of them there now! They had been in Philippi, which is in Macedonia, for some days. On the Sabbath day, they went out of the city gate to the riverside. People gathered together there to pray. The city of Philippi didn't have enough Jewish men to have a synagogue, so the people went to the river to worship. It was mostly women worshipping there. They would pray, study the Old Testament laws from scrolls and talk about what they had read. This would have been a great privilege to have a man there to teach them. After they had sat down, they talked to a woman they had met there. One of the women that was there worshipping was named Lydia. She already believed in God and didn't worship idols. She sold purple fabric. Let's talk a little bit about how she made the purple fabric, and why it was so expensive. I have cut pieces of purple cloth and shells on the front table for the kids to pick up when they come in to class. They do their passports and pick up whatever I have for them so there is not time wasted handing out things. And, if there are choices, like the shells, they can pick before class. And, first come, first picking! Purple cloth was very expensive. The reason it was so costly was that it was difficult to make. The dye for the cloth came from a shellfish. Purple dye had to be gathered drop by drop from the veins of certain shellfish found only in this area of the Mediterranean. The little bit of juice was white while it was in the veins of the fish, but when it was exposed to the sun, the liquid changed into bright purple and red colors. It took thousands of seashells to make a yard or two of purple cloth. It took a lot of work to catch enough shellfish to dye even one garment. It was a statement of status, power, and wealth in Roman times. The beautiful cloth was mainly used by members of the royal families and Roman senators who were required to have a purple band around the edge of their togas, or robes. (This info gathered over years of research, and I do not know exact origins.) Lydia listened to Paul. Lydia and her household were baptized, immediately, and then she begged Paul, Silas, Timothy and Luke to go to her house to stay. This worksheet is a concept chart. As you are reading through Acts 16:11-15 with the students, they can fill in the facts that are stated. This includes the color (w/o logos), black & white and a teacher's answer sheet. Click here to download. When I make these, I use the Accucut diecut machine to cut the (large) shells for the outside. But, I have included the outside, as you can see, and the inside. Once I glued the outside on, I trimmed a little of the inside so it would look nicer, but that is just me. Because, actually, the kids will be cutting and gluing these, so I won't be trimming theirs. Here is the color printable. Here is the black and white printable. Please note, though, that I used the same cream shell for the inside because I couldn't find a plain outline of a shell to use, and you couldn't see anything if I used what is available. You can print in grayscale if you want to. Click here to download. Click here to download the lesson. Bible Verse: Acts 16:14 Click here to download these visuals. Not all are shown. VERSES: Joel 1:1-3:21 MEMORY VERSE: Joel 2:13 "...rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD you God..." BOOK TO REMEMBER: Hebrews. Write "Hebrews" on small slips of paper and hand out at the end of Bible class, so the students may take it home to memorize. PRAYER: Thank God for the wonderful food that He gives us. Thank Him for being a good, kind, and merciful God that loves us so very much. SPECIAL SONG: Jesus Loves Me (see February - Songs We Sing In Bible Class #2 on this blog) VISUAL AID: Large Activity (see below) LESSON POINTS: What do we know about Joel? Joel, like Hosea, was one of the minor prophets, which meant that he only wrote a little bit compared to other prophets, writing only three chapters in his book. We do not know much about Joel as a person, only what he wrote. His name means "Jehovah Is God." Sometimes Joel is called the "Prophet of Pentecost" because some his prophecies (Joel 2:28-32) were fulfilled in the book of Acts in the New Testament on the day of Pentecost. (Acts 2:16-47). He pleaded with the people to repent from their wickedness and return to God, like all of the prophets did before him and after him. What made Joel a little different than some of the other prophets is that, during, his warnings and pleadings with the people, there was a great pestilence. A 'pestilence' is like a plague. Remember our lessons on the Plagues of Egypt (see the lessons in April and May on the Plagues 1-10 on this blog)? A pestilence was a tremendous amount of insects that would infect the land and do much damage to the crops, so there would be a famine or no food to eat. Here, in Joel's time, the beginning of the pestilence that ravaged the land were thousands and thousands of locusts. They ate and ate and eventually they went away. Then when the locusts had eaten all they could, there was still a little bit of stalks on the plants; not much, but there was a little bit left. Next, the palmerworms , which was a type of caterpillar, came after the locusts and ate all they could, but there was little bit left. After the palmerworms, the cankerworms, which were certain types of moths and their larvae, came and ate a little bit more. And, finally, the caterpillars came and ate what the cankerworms left. Then...there was no food at all for the people. There were no grapes, no figs, no corn, no oil, no wheat, no barley, no pomegranates, no fruit of the palm trees, no apples, no seeds, no food at all for the animals or the people. The people suffered. Joel said that the reason for their suffering and the pestilence was because God wanted the people to be sorry for the wrongs that they had been doing, and to weep, fast, mourn, and tear their hearts, not their clothes, and to turn to Him again. Joel said that God was good, gracious and kind, that He was slow to get angry and was merciful to those who returned to Him. Joel pleaded with the people to do good, but they would not listen. God was ready to give the people all the things back if they would only return to Him, but they would not repent or be sorry for their wicked deeds, "Older Student" Tips: The book of Joel is written in two main parts. The first part is Joel speaking (Joel 1:1-2:17) and the second part is God speaking (Joel 2:18-3:21). ACTIVITY: What Happened In The Book Of JOEL Materials needed: 9" x 12" light blue construction paper, five pieces of white bond paper, crayons, marker, stapler, staples, scissors. Because there is a lot of writing with pictures, it might a good idea for the Bible teacher to cut both the blue and the white papers in half, lengthwise. Or, the books could even be stapled together in advance. See what is best for your size of class. Hand out two pieces of 4.5" light blue paper. Hand out ten pieces of 4.25" x 11" white paper. Place the ten white papers inside the two blue papers. Line papers up on one side. Staple on the left side of the papers. NUMBER THE WHITE PAGES ONLY ON THE RIGHT SIDE. FRONT COVER: Write "What Happened In The Book Of JOEL.'. INSIDE BLUE COVER: Draw Joel preaching. Write the word REPENT in a speech bubble. PAGE 1: Write "Joel was a prophet of God." PAGE 2: Write "Because the people turned away from God, bad things happened." Write the word, "away" in red. BACK OF PAGE 2: Blank. PAGE 3: Draw a healthy looking green plant with a few locusts eating the leaves. Idea: The Students can trace their thumbs for the bodies of the locusts, adding eyes, wings, and legs. BACK OF PAGE 3: Blank. PAGE 4: Write: "But there was a little bit left." BACK OF PAGE 4: Write "Next, the palmerworms came and ate all they could." PAGE 5: Draw an unhealthy looking greenish plant with brown wiggles for palmerworms on the plant. BACK OF PAGE 5: Blank. PAGE 6: Write "But there was a little bit left." BACK OF PAGE 6: Write "Then the cankerworms came and ate all they could." PAGE 7: Draw a stem of a plant with brown circles with a line through the, (like the "NO" sign) and brown lines for the cankerworms and larvae. The cankerworm is supposed to look like a small moth. BACK OF PAGE 7: Blank. PAGE 8: Write "But there was a little bit left." BACK OF PAGE 8: Write "Finally, the caterpillars came and ate all they could." PAGE 9: Draw a picture of hardly any green stem at all with orange caterpillars on it. BACK OF PAGE 9: Blank. PAGE 10: Write "There was nothing left." BACK OF PAGE 10: Write "No grapes. No figs. This is a great lesson for kids! The obvious application is do not lie! I have updated the lesson, application printable, added visuals and pictures to color. This also includes an introduction to the book of Acts that can be used for any lesson in Acts or review. We are going to be studying the book of Acts. That is in the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, John and then Acts. Luke was a doctor and he is the one who wrote this book. And the book of Luke. Click here to download. Open your Bibles to Acts 1:1. Look at the title. It says The ACTS of the Apostles. What does this mean? What does it mean when you act on something? That means that you do something. So, Acts tells us about what the Apostles did after Jesus returned to heaven. The first chapter tells us about Jesus going back to heaven. Click here to download. The title states it is the ACTS of the Apostles. Jesus picked 12 men to follow Him. What were they called? Disciples means followers of Jesus. After Jesus went back to heaven, those 11 disciples (not Judas, but Matthias was selected to be a disciple) were called Apostles because Jesus sent them out. We will look at some of the early Christians and what they had to suffer for Jesus. These will lead to our lessons about Paul. Acts has 30 years of information for us to study. The Christians had been teaching as many people as they could, and there were a lot of baptisms. They were doing miracles and healing people. The people that had land or houses, sold them and brought the money from the sale to the Apostles and they gave to the poor and needy. (Acts 4:34-37) Our Bible scripture for today's lesson is Acts 5:1-11. Today we are learning about a married couple named Ananias and Sapphira. Ananias and Sapphira had some land they could sell. (Acts 5:3) They saw that the Christians were giving money to Peter and he was a follower of Jesus. Ananias and Sapphira thought they could impress Peter by giving money too. They sold some land and they both decided to keep SOME of the money for themselves and give the rest to Peter to help the poor. Ananias took the other part and took it to the disciples and laid it at their feet. “Look!” said Ananias, “I sold some of my land and here is all the money I made!” Peter said to Ananias: Why have you kept part of the money from the sale? It was your money, under your own control, so why have you come up with this lie in your heart? You haven’t lied to men, but to God! How does God feel about lying? Ananias instantly fell down dead when he heard the words Peter spoke! Some men came and carried the body of Ananias out of the temple. They were amazed, and a little scared by what had happened. About 3 hours later (Acts 5:7), Sapphira, went to see Peter. She hadn’t heard what happened to her husband yet. Peter asked her, "Did you sell the land for the amount that Ananias donated?" She answered: “Yes, that is how much we sold the land for.” Peter asked her why they agreed together to test God? Peter told her to look at the feet of the men that buried her husband because they would carry her out too! IMMEDIATELY, Sapphira died and the men came to carry her out and they buried her by her husband. People heard about Ananias & Sapphira from far, far away! They heard about how they had lied to Peter, and most importantly they lied to God. And, they both died instantly because of their lies! People were afraid when they heard these things. (Acts 5: 11) And many Christians learned that day that God sees and hears everything that we do. The land deed that we signed and tied with a ribbon is written with the Old English Text font. To save ink, I print the plain deed onto granite paper. Click the picture to print. Click here to print in Color Click here to print in B/W. I typically like the project for the lesson to be a review or a main point to talk about and apply to the students. They have something to take home and maybe the parents will question them and help them remember the lesson better. This printable can be printed in color or black & white. I printed the black & white onto construction paper. It has more texture than cardstock or paper. I cut the paper to 8.5x11 to print. I put the bags in order, then I tied a ribbon around them to hold them together. Cute bow and all! Click here to download both. (BTW, the kids really loved these!) The kids do love the bags, but this is a worksheet with the same questions for easy printing and no assembly needed. This includes the color and black & white worksheet and a scripture poster about telling lies. Click here to download (without logos). Click here to download the worksheet. Extra project: Give each student a 3x5 white index card. We are transparent to God. Have them draw a heart and write their names on the card with white crayon. Discuss how we can’t see what is on the card. But God can. Take a marker and color over the cards. Explain that God can see what we cannot. We can’t see each other’s hearts, but God can. I had the students make a heart with sin, lies, and/or love on each. Original idea found here. Bible Verse: Acts 5:4 Scripture taken from the New King James Version®. This lesson combines both Peter's Vision he had on the rooftop and continues with Peter traveling to see Cornelius and teaching him about Jesus. Today we are studying about Cornelius found in Acts 10:1-48. He lived in Caesarea and was a centurion (captain of 100 men) of the Italian Regiment (military). He was faithful and feared God. He gladly gave gifts to the poor and he prayed a lot. About three in the afternoon an angel of God came to him and said, “Cornelius.” He was scared when he saw the angel! The angel told him that God has heard his prayers. The angel told him to "Send for Simon Peter, and he will tell you what to do." The angel left and Cornelius told two servants and a soldier to go to Joppa to get Simon Peter. It was a 10-hour trip. The next day, at about noon, Peter went to the housetop to pray. He was very hungry, and he fell into a trance. He saw the heavens open up and something like a huge sheet tied by its four corners come to earth. It had all different kinds of animals, reptiles and birds on it. Peter wondered what that meant. This happened three times, and then went back up into heaven. (Acts 10:16) While he was thinking about it, the three men sent by Cornelius asked if Peter was there. Peter went down and told them that he was the Peter they were looking for. After they explained why Cornelius sent them, Peter invited them into his house. Peter got up in the morning and prepared to travel with Cornelius’ men. Peter took six Jewish believers along with him (Acts 11:12) on this journey. They split the traveling into a two-day journey from Joppa to Caesarea. When they went into the house, all the people that Cornelius had invited were there to greet Peter. (Acts 10:34) God sent Peter to teach Cornelius and his family. Peter told them that God doesn’t show favoritism. Everyone is treated the same in every nation that fears Him and is faithful to Him. He told them about Jesus and how He died. He said that we are commanded to preach to all people so all can go to Heaven. The thing was that at any other time, Peter and Cornelius wouldn’t be seen together, especially talking to each other because it was unlawful for a Jewish man to associate with someone from another country. (Acts 10:28) But when the people that were at the house of Cornelius heard what Peter had to say, they believed. The last verse (Acts 10:48) says that Peter told them to be baptized in the name of the Lord and then they asked Peter to stay for a few days with them. These updated Roman Centurion posters can be used for any lesson with a centurion. The last poster is Cornelius. These are in color only. Click here to download. This is my visual for this week. The 'sheet tied by the 4 corners' is hanging from the ceiling. I used fishing line to hang it. There are 2 dowel rods that the sheet is tied to keep it from sagging, and the fishing line is tied around the dowel rods. Peter's housetop is a piece of plywood on dowel rod legs. White fabric (that won't fray) cut into 12" large squares. This is about what I cut them. It depends on the fabric, and I just cut them to get the least amount of waste. In the picture, you see I used a white felt, and cut the squares into 18-inch pieces. (Picture 1) Cut two 40" lengths of fishing line, and tie to the opposite corners of the 'sheet'. (Picture 2) I pulled the fishing line up in the center of both pieces and made a loop to gather them. You can give the kids a dowel rod to hang it on to make it go up and down easier. The students will add any animals you hand out and take home their animals they brought. (I sent a note home with them last week and sent email reminders during the week) They can raise and lower the sheet like the vision. Click here to print the note from last week. You can print the left clean vs. unclean worksheet by clicking here. The chart on the right is an updated chart of clean and unclean animals. It is a very basic list with animals that are in the Bible or easily recognized animals. It is not intended to be an in-depth list. This includes the color and black & white. Click here to download. These posters are more of a teacher's visual when discussing clean and unclean and were used with the above student handout chart of clean and unclean animals. Remember, this is intended for early elementary and is not an in-depth adult study on the laws God made for clean and unclean. There is a very basic outline that can be used with the posters and this lesson. Click here to download. This Bible lesson has so many good points that can be discussed. One point that Luke keeps making in Acts is that when people hear the Gospel, they believe in Jesus and immediately are baptized. Another is that Jesus loves everyone and salvation is for everyone. Since those points are made repeatedly in the following lessons, I took this time to talk about some of the old laws from the Old Testament, and some of the new laws that came into effect when Jesus died on the cross. We discussed the old law of sacrificing animals, and we are very thankful we don't have to do that! But, the new law includes baptism. We still worship, but the old law was on the Sabbath, being Saturday. Exodus 31:16 And, the new law on the first day of the week, being Sunday. (Acts 20:7) We mostly talked about clean and unclean food. The food choices were part of the new laws. I had a bigger table and more animals, but this will give you an idea of what I did. I gathered up animals, even my granddaughters Fisher Price ones, and the kids looked at their charts and we put the animal with the correct tag. You can print the clean and unclean tags here. These hanging monkeys and the snakes are from Dollar Tree. They LOVE the monkeys! I hang them on my arms and let them pick their color. But, the object is to discuss the clean vs. unclean according to God. These rats and bats are only sold around October. The first packs are at Wal Mart, the second ones in the mesh bags are at Dollar Tree. They love those, because they glow in the dark! You can also use the black birds (ravens for Elijah) from Dollar Tree for several Bible lessons, and this is one of the lessons! Click here to download. You can find all the Acts worksheets here. Click here to print the lesson. Click here to download the updated visuals as shown above. The visuals are for Acts 10-11. Not all are shown. Click here to download the pictures to color. " Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people. Do you know something about GOD? Well look at the picture and you will know some things about the ARMOR OF GOD. Do you want to know what the ARMOR OF GOD is? Wait until the end and then find out about the ARMOR OF GOD." Ephesians 6:10-18 (TNIV) Do you know about the armor of God? A knight is dressed in armor. This is the end of this blog but it is not the very end. Read on and I will show you what is in store. THE ARMOR OF GOD is: THE HELMET OF SALVATION THE SHIELD OF FAITH THE BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS THE BELT OF TRUTH THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT (WORD OF GOD) THE SHOES OF PEACE If we dress ourselves in THE ARMOR OF GOD in everything we do we will be safe from satan and his lies.
We are moving forward with our EXPLORING BIBLE HISTORY. Are next lesson is about Joel prophesying in the land of Judah. I am sure you know the history to this lesson. There was a terrible PLAGUE of LOCUST in the Land of Judah. Joel told the people of JUDAH that the PLAGUE was NO ACCIDENT. They had NOT been obeying GOD and they were suffering for their disobedience. So much for the KIDDOS to learn...both the HISTORY and the APPLICATION. We MUST obey GOD!!! The KIDDOS will have three new WORDS for the WORD WALL. I want to make sure they UNDERSTAND what all three of these words mean.....So, I will explain the words and then have them HELP me use them in a sentence. We have a NEW CARD to add to our "GOD'S AWESOME PLAN FOR MAN" timeline. This is our MEMORY VERSE for this week. This verse comes directly from the text our lesson comes from. We will 'sing' this memory verse several times before class time is over. (BELOW is a video highlighting our TAKE HOME project. The MEMORY VERSE is being sung in the video.) I decided the best VISUAL would be to have a "SWARM of LOCUST" in our classroom. I printed SEVERAL clip art Locust/Grasshoppers and cut them out. Then set them up all over the floor of the classroom. (Leaving enough room for the KIDDOS to be able to carefully navigate through the locust...when they come into the classroom.) The KIDDOS have a new song to learn!!! I was blessed to write this song during our trip to Florida this past February. I sang it SEVERAL times in the car. Matter-Of-Fact, I sang it so many times, my husband was able to sing it. :-) If you follow this LINK you will be able to hear how this song goes. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10201402483249792&set=vb.315861918469916&type=2&theater I decided that the KIDDOS would make a "LOCUST" for their TAKE HOME project. I printed the MEMORY VERSE on the wing. That way not only is a Locust, but a Locust with a purpose. I think it turned out cute. I have them all "put together"---except the heads and eyes. The KIDDOS will glue the head and eyes on during class time. If time permits the KIDDOS will be allowed to color their Locust, too. Then the KIDDOS will glue their "LOCUST" to a PAINT PADDLE. Adding it to the paint paddle turns it into a type of PUPPET. ---I will have the KIDDOS sing their Memory Verse while moving their "LOCUST" around!! Below is a video of the LOCUST moving about as I sang the Memory Verse. Our REVIEW GAME is called "LEAPING LOCUST!!" This game will be played by the KIDDOS rolling a die, pulling a question card, if they answer the question correctly they get to MOVE their "LOCUST" ahead the number of spaces that they rolled. If the LOCUST lands on a plant...they miss a turn. After all the LOCUST love to eat plants. The object of the game is to move the LOCUST from the start line down to the growing CROPS!!! (BTW, I made the LOCUST GAME pieces from CLIP ART, Binder Clips --with the silver parts removed and Avery Color Dot Stickers.) EASY to assemble. Next week we will review this lesson. The KIDDOS will add this project to their EXPLORER JOURNAL. The KIDDOS will COLOR the "CROPS" and then add LOCUST. I bought the Stickers and LOCUST at the DOLLAR TREE. The stickers were found in the School Supply area. The 3D Locust/Grasshopper came in a package of BUGS. I found them in the toys. I think this is going to be an exciting lesson. I know I am excited about teaching it this Sunday. Blessings, Ronda
We are finishing up with the judges today with Samuel and he leads us to David. We have a couple of lessons for David and his son Solomon to finish this 13-week quarter of the Old Testament Bible People. We will begin the next quarter with Elijah and Elisha. Today we are going to talk about David. We can find this lesson in the Old Testament in 1 Samuel 16 and Psalm 23. What can anyone tell me about David? David was a shepherd for his father, Jesse. Shepherds take care of sheep. Shepherds were very careful to protect their sheep from dangers. David had fought a bear and a lion to protect his sheep! Next week we will study David when he fights Goliath! We talked about Samuel last week and he was a judge. But, he has gotten older and his two sons are the judges now. The people start begging Samuel for a king. Samuel asks God to tell him what to do. God tells Samuel to remind the people about all the things that would happen and be required of them if they have a king. But, they demand a king. They wanted to be like everyone else all around them. There was a man named Saul and he was very handsome. God told Samuel that He would send the chosen man to be king to Samuel. Samuel poured oil on Saul's head to anoint him. When Samuel brought Saul before the people, Saul stood taller than anyone! Samuel told the people that God had chosen Saul to be the king and there wasn't anyone like him! Eventually, King Saul turned away from God, and God was sorry He chose Saul to be the king. God told Samuel to go to Bethlehem to sacrifice to the Lord. God told Samuel to invite Jesse and his sons because God would show Samuel who would be the new king. God told Samuel that He looks at a person's heart, not how a person looks on the outside. God didn't want Samuel to judge God's decision on who God decided was the next king because of how they physically looked. (1 Samuel 16:7) Jesse had eight sons and seven of the sons walked past Samuel for him to see. When they were not the chosen one, Samuel asked Jesse "Is this all of your sons?" Jesse told Samuel that his youngest son was taking care of the sheep. Samuel said to bring him, and they wouldn't sit down until he came before Samuel. They brought David to Samuel and God told Samuel “He is the one.” Samuel anointed David with the horn of oil while his brothers were there with them. King Saul was feeling depressed, so his servants sent for David. The Bible tells us David could play the harp. David was strong and a good soldier, intelligent and good looking. And, God is with him. When King Saul wasn’t feeling good, David would play the harp for him and make King Saul feel better. King Saul loved David greatly and David became his armor bearer. I originally made this file folder game for this lesson. There are several choices for how to use it. Click on the picture to see the post. I used 12x12 grass scrapbook paper and the kids glue the scripture in order onto the paper. This is the visual I set up for this lesson. David is off to the side protecting his sheep from the lion and the bear. I also use the sheep, rocks and bushes for The Parable of the Lost Sheep. Click here to download the worksheet. You need four strips of card and three brass paper fasteners: I was planning on doing this on Sunday anyway, but it seemed particularly appropriate since today was Tom's funeral, who told it (more or less) this way at a holiday club when I was a wee girl.

Today I had a ton of fun making a Books of the Bible Lapbook. Print out all your pieces. Assemble the accordion books. Attach the cover to the front of the lapbook. How it looks when you first open it up. Bible notes on the left hand flap. Bible vocabulary on the right hand flap. The beginning part of the Old Testament books on the first insert. Under the Bible notes tabs. Just a close up of the first set of pockets. The accordion books are folded up. The match book vocabulary can be either written in or pasted in. Turn the first insert page over and here are the remaining pockets etc... for the OT. Then we have a 400 years separation note stuck to the bottom part of the page. Turning to the middle we start the NT pockets. And continue over for the remainder. How it looks when both inserts are open. On the back of the right hand insert. A full listing of the books of the Bible. Yes, so that's it. It is quite a project, and I suggest doing it in small parts as a child learns the Books of the Bible by rote memory. So, if you're interested in this lapbook feel free to download a FREE copy here. Thanks so much for visiting.
