I have two friends who had homebirths last summer. One had an unassisted water birth, and the other had a midwife-assisted homebirth. When my husband Carlos and I got pregnant last fall, I knew that I wanted a homebirth. I had birthed four babies previously, all with OB/GYNs in a hospital (with induction and pain relief), and I wasn’t happy with those experiences. I spoke with Carlos and he said that he would support me having our baby at home. I called Jen & Jill, the midwives that had attended my friend’s homebirth, and we began my prenatal care. For

About: ‘Birth’ Note from the Artist: - this piece is about connecting to the divine feminine through birth and rebirth. We have endless opportunities to renew, ever evolving and growing. Opening. Blossoming. Unfolding like a flower in the light. Sometimes wilting, only to bloom again. Let go of the old, dead parts of you. Allow your soul to rebirth. Whenever it needs to. As often as you feel. A change of course, a shift in energy; we are constantly evolving and growing. ✨ Size: A4 8.27 X 11.69 inches 21 X 29.7 cm A3 11.69 X 16.53 inches 29.7 X 42 cm A2 16.5 X 23.4 inches 42 X 59.4 cm 🌸Paper: Luster fine art photo paper 300gsm 🌸Comes unframed. The sizes are standard ‘A’ sizes - frames can easily be found online by searching ‘A4’ or ‘A3’ frame. I personally recommend buying a larger size frame with a border. For example, if you are purchasing an A4 print, search ‘A3 frame with A4 mount’ - this will give you a frame with a large white border around your artwork to make it look even more beautiful in your home. If you are purchasing an A3 frame you can search ‘A2 frame with A3 mount’. 🌸Packaging: Items come in cardboard hardbackee envelopes or boxes. A3 prints come rolled in tubes to prevent damage during shipping. Useage of plastic is limited to the bare minimum and all efforts are made to prevent negative impact on the planet. 🌸Printed in small quantities to prevent wastage.

Those early postpartum days can be foggy, messy, beautiful, tiresome, we are over the moon in love, meeting all our baby’s needs… so much so that we often forget the incredible marathon our body has just endured. Pregnancy and birth require all our strength and energy. And so, to acknowledge and honour that we must be gentle with ourselves and embrace a slow postpartum - an opportunity of healing, rest, rejuvenation. I briefly met Lily at a Housewife to Hostess dance party a little while back and ever since then have absolutely LOVE following her on Instagram! Her stories are my favorite because she has fabulous style, the cutest, funniest kids, and is so real and genuine, while keeping it light and mom-tastically humorous throughout! So, I was pretty excited when I got to go shoot her birth, and let me tell ya, other than the obvious reasons, and photographically-speaking, Epidural births are A LOT different than non-medicated births! I actually got to pose her for a few and get some really beautiful posed photos as well as beautiful non-posed photos. But no matter how they do it, once that baby arrives, it's the same look of absolutely unconditional love in their eyes that I LIVE for (photographically-speaking). Oh, how I love what I do! I still have some slots open for the summer, so if you're due or know anyone who is, point them my way and let's make sure that you never, ever forget that day and that feeling, no matter how quickly they grow up! _______________________________________________________ Susan is a birth photographer and videographer serving Mesa, Arizona and surrounding cities in the East Valley including Chandler, Gilbert, Queen Creek, Scottsdale, and Tempe.
