This is a very fun, and quick game.. usually wrapped up in 20 minutes. It's an old Scandinavian game, played in certain parts of Denmark and Norway. Two players take turns rolling the four sided dice to try and free their tokens for movement, then try to capture the opponents token before they can ambush your starting pieces or return to your opponents starting side. The board consists of three paths, the middle one being the field of play. The two side are filled with each player's tokens. In this variation, I have used shields and axes to designate players 1 and 2. The number of tokens vary according to local tradition, typically 16 in Denmark and 12 in Norway. The game uses a pair of special four sided dice marked A, II, III and IV. You need to roll an A to free one of your pieces, the other rolls are used to move the pegs once freed. All tokens start face down and are freed - flipped over based upon the previous rule (rolling an A). A token may never overtake your other tokens, but must keep their place in the line. Once freed the pieces move down the middle aisle and if they manage to avoid being captured they move into the opponent's starting line, capturing their tokens. The origins of the game are unknown but it is believed to be inspired by certain Middle-Eastern and north African games, brought back by either vikings. The ship / board you play on is 14.5 inches long and 4.5 inches wide. The board has two runic sayings on the top deck "not all who wander are lost" and "death before dishonor". I can modify those if request. The back has an awesome viking seafaring scene. I can also personalize the back. The board is made of 1/4 inch wood and is secured along the bottom with a large (engraved) set of base stands. This makes for a sturdy board game while providing a unique playing experience. You get: - The long-boat board (fully assembled and personalized as you request) - 18 of each sides tokens (I toss in two extra tokens per side) - Burlap bag to hold the tokens - Two four sided long dice - Instructions, printed on rustic paper to add to that ancient theme Please send me any questions you may have. As always thanks for exploring another ancient game from my workshop :)
Sometimes empathy helps us and sometimes it hurts us. When it comes to making decisions, our reasoning rather than our ability to empathize matters most.
A delicious combination of protein-packed ingredients, this weeknight meal is straightforward and quick to create. Ground sausage and pasta serve as an anchor for the dish, providing heartiness. Spinach adds great flavor, while beans add a creamy texture. Topping it off, lemon zest and Parmesan cheese add the final finishing flavors. Allowing for ingredient flexibility, this recipe is the perfect addition to your cooking arsenal.

More than 4 billion people live in urban areas globally. It’s now projected that by 2050, more than two-thirds of the world population will live in urban areas. So no wonder we pay more importance to the buildings and structures around us.

Precalculus will be moving beyond their introduction to functions and function notation from Algebra II and into a in-depth development of transformations. We will be applying transformations (translations, reflections, dilations, etc.) to many of the parent functions included in the image above (we will save trigonometry for the Spring!). Understanding transformations is a crucial link between the algebraic form of a function and its graphical behavior. We will spend a considerable amount of time exploring this topic and working toward mastery. You all will continue to complete the lengthy linear programming problem set and for that reason I have a great deal of information to post--I will post the homework, reference materials, and a YouTube video that goes over the basics of linear programming from the previous week on linear programming as well as the upcoming information on transformations! Enjoy. Text Examplars: Homework Reference Material Wolfram Demonstration Upcoming Material for the next two weeks. Below is a student work example of some of the resources I will be using and what we will be exploring. The purpose is for students to have a concrete link between their algebraic worlds and geometric worlds as well as to ground the solving of systems in the graphical world and slowly move to more abstract manipulation. Check out this 3D Lathe that will help you visualize the creation of 3D geometric figures from the two-dimensions of the coordinate plane. http://www.fi.uu.nl/toepassingen/00182/toepassing_wisweb.en.html Homework (from the University of Houston) Reference Material Reference Sheet 1 Reference Sheet 2 Brightstorm Videos: These videos are aligned to the sections from your textbook, so as you are completing homework from your textbook you can easily locate the most relevant videos for you!
