The challenge at CAS-ual Fridays this week is to make a card using flowers or trees! I just couldn't resist using a couple dies from Memory Box...and made a couple cards!!... I used these two dies from Memory Box. I only used the top three petals from the tulip die and used the leaf die for the stems and leaves for the tulips. The sentiment is Hero Arts THEN...wanting to do another card a bit simpler, I opted for just 2 tulips on a kraft card... Another Hero Arts sentiment and used Papertrey button and impression plate(Linen/Canvas) for some added dimension and texture. Flowers are fun... what a fun challenge!! Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

Wonderland, one of the new Level 2 Paper Packs, is not just for winter-themed projects! Here's a cute and very simple box, ready to be filled with treats, or something fun. Now that I have the Cricut Expressions and after playing with some of the box shapes included in the Art Philosophy cartridge, it has got me wanting to do more, more, more. Last week I found a used Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartridge (that I've been eyeing for a very long time) through a local online classifieds and made this box with my newly loved, hard-to-find cartridge. Though I have to say, I'm having a hard time with how little is included in the regular cartridges, as opposed to the CTMH Art Philosophy cartridge, which is truly loaded with so many great options. I really hope that CTMH comes out with another new one in the next Idea Book! To make the box shown, I used a 12x12 mat and clicked the Fit To Page option on my Cricut. It's finished size is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" x 4 3/4". To cut the little 3/4" pennants, I used the Art Philosophy cartridge. Super cute box and so quick to make! Love that... Happy creating! :) Supplies used (all CTMH unless otherwise noted): Paper: Wonderland B&T; Colonial White, Lagoon CS Stamps: Trinity Alphabet, Art Philosophy Celebration Inks: Chocolate, Lagoon Embellishments: Chocolate waxy flax, Mocha Opaques adhesive gems, Lagoon button Other: Tags, Bags, Boxes & More cartidge (Provo Craft), Art Philosophy cartridge, 3D foam tape, Micro-tip scissors, Liquid Glass
Hello Ai fans! It's time for a brand new challenge here on the Art Impressions blog. Although we still have possibly quite a bit of winter where I am, we know it's beginning to warm up where some of you are. The rest of us will just have to live vicariously through your photos. For now we'll have to settle for a spring themed challenge. Bloom Where You're Planted We want to see your cards or handmade crafty projects using flowers, plants and trees! No particular theme. Just feature flowers and foliage. Before we look at our featured artist Nina's project let's announce the winner of our last challenge. The Top Spot for our You're My Everything challenge went to... Now let's take a look at the amazing projectS Nina created for our challenge! Hello Ai fans, Nina here and I am excited to be with you today to share my creations for our new challenege Bloom Where You're Planted. For my first card I used my favorite set Llama Set. I stamped the Llama and the little cacti cluster four times using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and my Mini Mist. I colored them using my Copic Markers. Copic Shades: Yellow: Y08 Y06 Red: R29 Brown: E99 YR24 Greens: G09 G14 YG67 YG25 YG23 I then used my scissors to cut around all the images and backed them with different thicknesses of foam tape to give this variety of dimension. I cut a white panel and die cut a circle in the middle and used foam tape to attach it to a very dark green panel. I then started attaching my Llama and other cactus clusters. I placed the whole panel on a light olive green panel. I then decorated with enamel dots. I also created another card using the beautiful Friends forever Set. I again stamped the lovely image of the girls on a Bristol smooth white paper using my Memento Tuxedo Black and my Mini Misti. I also stamped my sentiment from the same set and die cut the panel with square stitched does. I colored them with Copic markers as well as Spectrum Noir Markers. My color palette came from the floral pattern of a paper from the new Valentine's paper pack. I will create my background from that paper by the end. Copic Shades: Browns: E29 E27 E25 Greys: C2 C1 Red Brown: E19 E07 Yellow Brown: E99 YR24 Spectrum Noir Shades: Greens: VB2 VB5 Pink: AP1 AP3 Skin: FS4 FS5 I layered underneath the white panel, pinks and the pattern paper from the Valentine's paper pack release. I hope you enjoyed my projects and can't wait to see your creations for this challenges. Thank you Nina for your wonderful inspiration! Adorable cards.

Maestra Valentina

Here is a cute little birdhouse mini that I made following Kit's tutorial. I love her videos, she's so much fun! This one uses images from Abby at Little Birdie Blessings and The Graphic's Fairy. Since it's a birdhouse, I decided to use scripture verses about birds. The verse on the third page is the one from Matthew 6:26. Look at the birds of the air, they neither sow, nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value then they? How many times have I had to remind myself of this truth?! There are 14 pages to add pictures or journaling. I decided I wanted to stamp this flower flourish from Heartfelt Creations on the inside of the front after I had already decorated the front. To solve my little problem, I stamped the image on tissue paper, colored it with Creative Inspirations Paint, (which gives such a beautiful shimmer and sparkle) and then adhered it with gel medium. The gel medium makes the tissue paper translucent, so now you can't see the tissue paper and it looks as if it was stamped on the card stock. I stamped the bird, cut it out, covered it in UTEE, and added it with pop dots. I sewed beads around the first page. After I uploaded my pics, I realized that I misspelled 'Solomon'! Now that's going to bug me until I fix it, LOL. Last week, Abby posted the sheet music for Joyful, Joyful we adore thee. I thought that was such an appropriate song for this mini. Birds always sound so joyful. So I added that to the reverse side of the pages. The front of the birdhouse. I loved making this book. I'll be making some more; I think these would be a wonderful place to keep inspirational quotes, sayings, and verses . I'm not sure if this meets the requirements at Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenges to 'make me smile, create a happy card'. If not, feel free to ignore, LOL. Thanks so much for visiting and have a blessed day!
My friend, Nikki, pinned a pic of a gorgeous picnic basket from Randi Thorsen's Norwegian blog. I was very taken with it so decided to have a go at making my own, converting all the metric measurements into inches. I made one of these baskets for the MI Mingle and have just made another one and made a photo tutorial to show you how to make one. The tutorial is in the right hand side bar of my blog under "Picnic Basket Tutorial". Here's what I came up with : If you make one, make sure you leave me a comment so I can come and see it :) Happy Stamping!
How about a lovely spring bonnet to cheer things up? This is obviously a vintage bonnet...it reminds me of Bonnie (the singing) Bonnet from the Rankin and Bass show Here Comes Peter Cottontail. This bonnet was made just like my Top Note Turtle box. I know I said I'd give you directions for the Top Note Turtle box yesterday, but (among two other urgent things) I ended up having to take my son to the ER after he slipped on the ice and landed on his hip! It was a LONG day and I was just too exhausted by the time I could get back to it. This morning I spent quite some time digging us out of the snow that dumped on us last night, so I'm just finally getting to my blog. I hope to get the tutorial posted by the end of the day today, though. Stampin' Supplies: Vintage Labels (Sale-A-Bration FREE product), Eggcellent Eggs Kit (rub-ons), Sahara Sand card stock (to make the BOX), Apricot Appeal card stock & ink, Only Orange card stock & ink, Stampin' Sponge, Brocade Blue card stock & ink, Whisper White card stock, Brocade Blue 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Big Shot, Top Note die, SU! Oh my goodness so many gorgeous things to get from this catalogue... I went all out and ended up with quite a bit of lovely stuff to play with. I just did another smallish order (with hostess benefits) yesterday and I can not wait to get it. Here is another card in a box that i made with the blendabilities and the new blended bloom stamp. (I am a little obsessed with making these and love it to bits :-) Here is another card with the blendabilities - I am still a bit of a beginner but getting there.
