Teen boy cards can be a bit hard especially if you don't have a stamp set that goes along with some of their interests. Or you have that stamp set but have used for more than one card for them already! Sometimes I just go with bright colors and some fun shapes and a bold sentiment. For my teen boy birthday card today I used the Global Design Project sketch for inspiration on the layout. The card starts with a Whisper White thick base, then has a narrow strip of Whisper White embossed with the Subtle embossing folder for a little detail for the sketch element. I cut various sized triangles with the Stitched Triangle dies in Granny Apple Green, Pumpkin Pie and Bermuda Bay and then stamped some with The Right Triangle stamp set. I layered them in a cluster for a nice grouping to put the big sentiment onto following along with the sketch. I used some retired Black Glimmer paper, adhesive foam sheets and the Playful Alphabet dies to make a nice sparkly happy birthday hashtag. Hashtags are probably not cool anymore but I've never claimed to be 'in' so I'm staying on brand! For the celebrate flag I used Basic Black cardstock and the Many Mates set. It looks a bit of a hot mess but it's embossed with white shimmer embossing powder so the parts that look funny are the bits of the glitter which don't photograph well. I promise it looks cooler in person. I popped the flag on dimensionals and then added a retired Bermuda Bay enamel star along with 2 more in the triangles. Thanks for looking! Did you stamp today? Stamps: The Right Triangle, Many Mates Ink: Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Versamark Paper: Whisper White thick, Whisper White, Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Pumpkin Pie, Black Glimmer (retired), Basic Black Accessories: Stitched Triangle dies, Playful Alphabet dies, foam adhesive sheets, Subtle embossing folder, white shimmer embossing powder, dimensionals, enamel shapes (retired)
A co-worker's daughter, Natalie, wanted to have a Spider-Man birthday party and asked me to make invitations. This is what I came up with. ...
Hello Everyone! My daughter had a birthday party recently and imagine my shock when I realised I had NO BOY CARDS in my stash! Seriously, how did I let that happen? Anyway, thank goodness for these Large Number Dies by ODBD because they make it really easy to make a super quick card. They also make it sooooo easy to create the dreaded Man Card!! :) I've used a white base and layered with Marina Mist and topped with some fabby Maja Designs Denim and Friends paper. I've added a piece of grosgrain ribbon down the middle. I've added another strip of Marina Mist across the top and then cut a piece of River Rock with a stitched flag die and popped it up on X-press It Foam Tape. I've then used some Star Spellbinders dies to create the white and yellow stars. Finally I've used Large Number Dies to cut the '10' and airbrushed it with some B95 Copic while still in the die. Stamps - None Ink - None Paper - White, Marina Mist, River Rock, So Saffron, Maja Designs Denim and Friends DP Accessories - ODBD Large Number Dies, Just Rite A2 Stitched Banners and Rectangles Die, Spellbinders Stars Dies, River Rock Grosgrain Ribbon, X-press It Foam Tape That's all from me today, thanks for popping by and hope you are inspired to stamp! :)

Happy Friday folks ...... Summer is officially over ...... it's blowing a hooley out there!! I'm still refusing to accept it though ....... we haven't been on our holiday yet! Only 2 more sleeps to go then hubby and I are off. We're going to Croatia for a week, for a little rest and relaxation. It's our first time visiting that part of the world so not sure what to expect. I just hope there's still a little bit of sunshine left. I'm NOT taking the laptop with me so there'll be no blogging I'm afraid. Well ...... there might be, the MacBook is going with us so you never know ..... there won't be any craft though! (I'm looking forward to the break after this last week!) It's been non stop in the old craft room, getting everything prepped ready for when I get back. Yes it's going to be October when we get home ..... how scary is that! I had one very important card to make this week ..... it this little munchkin's 7th birthday (where has that time gone!) Hubby and I took him for a midweek birthday pizza, as we're going to be away for his big birthday bash with his friends at the weekend. We couldn't leave the restaurant until he'd had a yummy birthday surprise from the waiters. I did find time to make him a card ....... Neat & Tangled's Ink Splat ......... stamped using various colours of Distress Oxides Lots of sparkly 7's die cut from glitter card ..... some were coloured using Copic markers as the only coloured card I had was red! A die cut sentiment, coloured and heat embossed with clear powder, and a few dots of white enamel accents to finish He loved it! (Thank goodness) Oh well ... must dash. I haven't started on the packing yet ....... still washing and ironing in between finishing projects in the craft room. I've still got all day tomorrow though ...... no need to panic just yet. Thanks for popping by .... .enjoy your weekend and I'll see you when I get back .... in October!!! Cheerio until next time .....

Hello! I hope you're having a super Saturday. My most recent card was made for my brother. His birthday is next week and he likes classic cars. It was perfect timing because I just received this classic car image by Doodle Pantry. It comes pre-colored or you can color it yourself. I used the pre-colored image and digital patterned paper that comes with the set. The Happy Birthday sentiment is from TPC Studios and I used StazOn Jet Black ink. I die cut a couple of stars and used a large circle for the focal backdrop. Well, I hope you enjoy the rest of your day and thanks for stopping by! My Classic Car Birthday Card is entered into the following challenges: Craftitude: Anything Goes/Die Cuts Sister Act: Anything Goes Paper Crafting Journey: For that Special Man Left of Center: Card for a Male A Creative Romance: One for the Boys
I always get kind of sad at the end of May..... There are so many great products from our Annual and Occasions Catalogs that are retiring!! So....... I try my best to "play" with as many of them as I can before they go!! Here are a couple of great examples of Designer Series Paper that I'm really going to miss!! This first card features a Pineapple Punch card base, a layer of Night of Navy card stock and the star of the show..... that gorgeous Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper (DS). As of this blog post, this DSP is still available, so order it will you still can!! There is just something about this paper that I can't get enough of!! And.... I love those "pops" of color provided by the Pineapple Punch accents (like that great Pineapple Punch 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon). You can click on any of the images below to take you directly to my online store. Happiness Blooms Designer Series Paper (RETIRING) 148795 Pineapple Punch 1/8" Grosgrain Ribbon 146953 To finish off this simple card, we stamped "Thanks For That Thing You Did" in Calypso Coral ink on Whisper White card stock. This sentiment is from the All Things Thanks Stamp Set that we featured as our Product of the Week a few weeks ago. We die-cut the sentiment using the Stitched Shapes Framelits, then layered it on top of a 2 1/4" x 2 1/4" Night of Navy square and then a Pineapple Punch scallop square die-cut with the Layering Square Framelits. Finally, we added a couple of the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots to our sentiment. These fun, liitle dots are carrying over to our next Annual Catalog - yay!! All Things Thanks Stamp Set (RETIRING) 143089/143097 Stitched Shapes Framelits 145372 Layering Square Framelits 141708 Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots 148805 And..... here's another great example of a simple way to use your Designer Series Paper on a card.... For this card, we started with a Call Me Clover card base, then added two pieces of Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper (DSP) to our card. Again, as of this blog post, this DSP is still available to order (but it will retire on June 3). We also added a strip of the Crumb Cake Classic Weave Ribbon to the card and adhered it at the front of the card behind the sentiment. Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper 146902 Crumb Cake 3/8" Classic Weave Ribbon This time, we stamped "Happy Birthday" from the Better Together Stamp Set in Call Me Clover ink. This stamp set is also retiring, so order it will you still can. It has some very versatile sentiments - and.... I love that there is an "outside" sentiment, as well as an "inside" sentiment, for many of these greetings :). We die-cut this oval, along with the Call Me Clover Scallop Oval behind it, using the Layering Oval Framelits. And, again... for that final, finishing touch, we added a couple of Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots to our sentiment. So cute and simple!! As you can see...... just by adding some DSP and a sentiment, you can make a quick, simple cards, too!! Better Together Stamp Set (RETIRING) 141733/141736 Layering Oval Framelits 141706 We made both of these cards at our Simple, Beautiful Card Class this month. Hello Everyone, How is 2019 going for you? I've been MIA here on the blog for lack of time, but I often post on my Facebook page when I don't have time to do a full blog post. If you'd like to see what I'm up to on a regular basis, check me out there. Here are a few of the things I've been working on lately. (If you follow my FB page, you may have seen a few of these already, but there will be a couple of new cards). I'll post the cards first. This one was for my oldest grandson. He just turned 16. I just love this kid! He's funny, sweet and talented at beatboxing. Just a nice kid! I saw a card like this one on Pinterest and decided to try something similar. The blog was no longer in existence and so I can't give credit, but what a cute idea! I liked the black and white contrast, so stuck with that. The rest I just kind of put together by gosh and by golly, but it turned out okay. I just used a piece of yarn for the shoe lace as I had nothing else suitable. I thought this little metal 'Destiny' accent went well with the saying. My other grandson's birthday is coming up in February and he's right into Lego. So here is his card. I bought the Lego paper quite some time ago but it sure came in handy. It has a bit of a shiny texture to it and so I didn't need to do any additional work on it. I found a little saying that I thought was cute and put it on the inside. My kids sometimes roll their eyes at my sense of humor. Oh well, I've got to be who I am. His daddy's birthday is also coming up in February, so I made a very simple card for him. I scarfed the saying off the internet. It was a free sentiment that led back to Pinterest and a broken link. Sigh. I had such a hard time getting good photos. It was full-on sun in the middle of the day, but they're still kind of dark. I wasn't going outside to take them. Too cold here, plus I'm just getting over being sick. Speaking of which, that is why I made easy cards. My goodnesss I was sick. I mean sleep all day sick, and stare into stunned oblivion when awake. Oh, it was bad. Happily I am on the mend. Still coughing lots and still a bit stuffy at times, but waaaaayyy better!!! Now onto some things you may or may not have seen. I made some little Tiger Pouches for three of my granddaughters. After seeing them my 10 yr old grandson came and asked me to make him something, so I made some Shark Pencil Pouches for 2 of my grandsons. The others are either too young or too old. The Tiger Pouch was a paid pattern from Stubbornly Crafty on Etsy. This one was super easy to follow and fun to make. I used wool felt for the glasses. I actually made 3 of these. The smallest one is the first one I made and is true to the pattern. I decided I wanted them a bit larger, so the other three were made with the adjusted pattern. The pattern for the Shark Pencil Pouches was a free pattern from Patchwork Posse. You will have to join her newsletter to get the pattern. I found it difficult to work the zipper in this one but it's great for using up scraps of fabric. I'd like to try one with Denim scraps. If you're not experienced with zippers, I wouldn't recommend this one for you. Okay, so last but not least. I always enjoy crocheting and have been working on some little runners and hats for newborns up to 3 months. I'll just share this photo instead of take an up to date one. These are going to the pregnancy center in town. I may make more. I'm really kind of a do-as- the-mood-hits-me girl. Some might say spoiled, but that's not nice. Be nice. Anyway, that's about all I'll post for today. My computer is blinking on and off and being difficult, but it still works. Lol. Be thankful, take nothing for granted and have a great day! Blessings, Carmen
Hi everyone and happy Monday! I have a special card to share with you today. I created this for my husband's birthday. I love Graphic 45's Kraft Reflections paper collection. It's the perfect set to pull-off some masculine projects and I love the look of black and Kraft. The paper collection also includes cut-outs that you can use to accent your projects. I cut out a number of elements from the paper collection and layered them on this card. Behind the elements is a black doily I purchased on Etsy, giving the card the perfect touch of black, but keeping it very masculine. Here are some photos... I incorporated some May Arts ribbon and Want 2 Scrap bling... You will also notice some of the Graphic 45 Staples: Metal Tag and Metal Hinges. I always finish off the inside of my cards. This one was no exception! I cut out the playing cards from the Quote... Unquote paper and popped them up on dimensionals. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment was taken from an MFT stamp set. "You're the King" is taken from another MFT stamp set. I popped the sentiment up on dimenationals and adhered it to the small metal tag. Then I chose to hang it like a charm on the ribbon using a garment pin. Perfect little accent! Here's a look at the card at a different angle... For additional details about this card, as well as a product list, please visit the Graphic 45 blog where this project will be featured today! Thanks for stopping by and have an AMAZING week! xoxo ♥,
There is something so special between a mother and son, and these baby boy quotes will have boy moms everywhere reaching for the Kleenex.
This past week I took part in a colour challenge, in a Facebook group for Stampin' Up! demonstrators. These are the colours we were set, to use on a creation: Perfect for a masculine card, don't you think? I had a heap of fun making this card. I started off cutting two small panels of Crumb Cake, and two of Pool Party, card. I stamped on them, in the same coloured ink as the card, using Crackle Paint, Artisan Textures and Gallery Grunge stamp sets. Some of the images were "stamped off", so are pretty faint ... I was going for a variation in the depth of colour. After stamping each piece, and sponging ink around the edges, I attached the rectangles to an Early Espresso mat, and embossed the whole panel with the Coastal Weave 3D embossing folder. The ribbon on the card is Whisper White Flax ribbon, coloured with the Dark Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends marker. .... and a closer view, of the stamping and embossing: I've listed below all the Stampin' Up! products I used to make this card. If you'd like to buy them for yourself, and you live in Australia, I would love for you to shop with me (if you don't already have a Stampin' Up! demonstrator). You can get to my online store by clicking on any of the thumbnail images below. I loved this colour combo so much, I created a second card, which I will share with you tomorrow!
