NOTE: All brooms are made to order. Brooms must be ordered no later than November 20 for delivery before Christmas. Brooms ordered before that date will be shipped in time for Christmas delivery, but we cannot guarantee delivery... that is up to the USPS. We highly recommend USPS Priority Mail. This is an updated classic style of broom that predates the flat broom which wasn't introduced until around 1865. Although perfectly functional as a sweeper for smaller areas, it's also popular for decoration and ceremonies. Each broom is approximately 57" long, and 4" in diameter. The circumference as it touches the floor is about 16". It weighs about 3 1/2 pounds. We make every broom by hand using only the best available broomcorn (which is hand-dyed by us), and hand-split broomcorn stalk or rattan reed splits. It is bound first with wire, then with stout twine, and finished off with a pair of matching rows of hand-stitching to help it keep its shape. We call it a lodge broom because its bigger than a cabin broom, and smaller than our traditional besom.

Besom, Broomstick, Witch's Broom IN YOUR CHOICE OF NATURAL, RUST, BLACK OR MIXED The besom is the old world term for a broom to be used for more than just sweeping. This broom is a favorite for many rituals including weddings, handfastings and housewarmings. This broom is approx. 52" tall. Our brooms are made of 100% organic materials. We do every step of the work, from harvesting and preparing the raw materials to the finished piece. Before the arrival of the commercial broom company, with a very practical flat (Shaker) broom, brooms were sown round and usually left untrimmed, as it required no special equipment to do this. Local craftsmen might make an annual batch of besoms, made of the local materials, which were indigenous to the area and sell or trade them in the local village. This is the “old world” style of broom. As in all our brooms, the brush fiber is made of only the highest quality 100% broomcorn. The handles are kiln-dried hardwoods from a local sustainable reforestation project right here in Oregon. . The raw materials, tools and techniques used date back hundreds of years. We do every aspect of the work, from harvesting the raw materials out of nature to the finished piece. A balance between function, décor and the sacred is our purpose. When ordering you have a choice of natural (summer), black (winter), rust (spring), or mixed (fall) colors of broomcorn. Many people that collect our work have one for each season and purpose. Each broom and besom comes with a leather tong attached to the handle and we recommend that you always hang your broom when not using it. Because of the handcrafted nature of our products, there will be some variance in your delivered item from the representative photo images. ALL COLORED BROOMS COME WITH A NATURAL BROOM CORN FILLER. PLEASE TAKE A MOMENT TO READ MY SHOP ANNOUNCEMENT BEFORE ORDERING, I WILL KEEP PRODUCT UPDATES AND SHIPPING UPDATES IN THAT AREA.
